Scouting Report: Terrance Davis
Since Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha offensive guard Terrance Davis has been sending some strong Michigan signals lately, I went ahead and put together an evaluation. It seems like he's the lineman most likely to drop for Michigan right now.

You can be such a buzzkill Magnus, but I do enjoy your scouting reports. Interesting that Drevno is going after a kid who is on the overrated side, but he must think he can fix the technique issues.
Based on his offer list Saban & Urban think they can fix his technique issues, too...
for posting. i am curious what read you have on his character. the reason i mention that is in my experience kids with high character have a better chance of working past the weaknesses in their game, and you obviously noted a number of them.
I have heard of no red flags in regard to Davis when it comes to character. However, since I know he's not being coached to do some of the things he does (in regard to footwork, technique, etc.), I think that's a bit of a cause for concern.
his film.
I'm sure offers are a big part, but he also "looks like" a college lineman. If I saw him walking down the street, I would know he's a football player even if I didn't recognize him.

Or yet another thread about Jameis Winston!
...especially now that Kate Upton pictures are kaput.

it is difficult to develop good technique this early. I'd imagine he has had some pretty good growth spurts and has gone through or is going through coordination issues due to it (can really impact ability to play low with power and athleticism). Also, when you are bigger than everyone else, you are not really forced to learn/use technique because you can outsize every one.

I don't really buy that excuse about technique. It's easier to learn good technique when you're young because you don't have bad habits to break. But some of the things he does (regarding footwork) really have nothing to do with coordination. I mean, if you're supposed to step with your left foot and you step with your right, that's not really a coordination thing - that's just not doing what you're supposed to do.
As far as staying low, I think some guys have it and some guys don't. I think it's very difficult to teach someone who plays high to suddenly play low. You can have some impact there, but a guy who stands straight up is never going to be a Taylor Lewan, in my opinion, who had great body lean in the run game.
