Scouting Report: Minkah Fitzpatrick
This week's scouting report is on Jersey City (NJ) St. Peter's Prep cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick, a 247 Composite 5-star and the #4 cornerback in the 2015 class. He could play a variety of positions at the next level.

I think this is one fo the reasons he doesn't have the greatest short area quickness. It actually reminds me of Jarrod Wilson quite a bit: long, low steps. Still would be a player that I think most of us would be very excited to have on board.

It looks like you were implying that he was no where to be seen on Scout. It looks like they just updated everything over for 2015 recruiting and he is a 4*, #9 CB and #69 overall. He's right after Shaun Crawford. I'm sure he will be moving up there soon.
He looks pretty impressive. I can't imagine a backfield with Peppers, Crawford, Kimmel and Fitzpatrick back there along with some of the others. we will be on our way to a dominate defense. I hope it happens, but we will see.

The "m" in maybe should be capitalized.

So should the "d" in douchebag.

However, only one of us has made a positive contribution to the topic so far.

grammar nitpicking the tiniest details is your idea of a positive contribution? Are you an 85 year old librarian?

BlueCube started out the thread by being helpful.

Re-read the thread, I see that the other guy started it. My bad, Blue cube.

I assumed that was the case. No apology necessary, but appreciated.

As well as the "AYBE."

Thanks! I was actually having technical difficulties with Scout (the site wouldn't load), so I put the ??? in there as a reminder to check again later. Then I forgot to check before I posted. Gracias.

Nice write-up Magnus. It is a bit frustrating that the coaches waited so long to offer him. It doesn't seem like it detered him at all though.

Follow Peppers, Fitzpatrick!

The numbers don't seem bad at all really, if 247Sports is current. In 2013, he had 62 total tackles, 4 interceptions and 21 pass breakups. Based on the film provided, I would think that he'd make a nice addition to the backfield - he seems to be able to get to the ball quickly and he seems pretty good in space too.
Thanks for sharing, Magnus.

Great height for a corner. Do you think he'd be a boundary or field corner? Do we still use those terms?
I wish he would be a bit more physical, but maybe that will come with a little more time in the weight room and some college coaching. He definitely looks like a kid that would have an offer list like that. Thanks Magnus. Good stuff as always.

He looks more like a boundary corner to me, but Mattison seemed to be going in a direction of "left corner" and "right corner." Perhaps that will change depending on personnel. With Taylor and Countess as the starting corners, I'm not sure their skills are that different to warrant flipping from boundary to field.

That definitely makes sense. I just remembered someone discussing losing the terms last year. I was thinking boundary as well, does that create any sort of recruiting block for him considering that Peppers is considered the boundary corner of the future? Would they just make room for him at nickel? He doesn't strike me as a safety type, just based on his tape but maybe I am wrong.

I don't think it blocks him, really. Michigan would be okay with one of those guys on either side. Both of them are fast enough to be able to play boundary or field. I think Peppers is going to end up playing a lot in the slot, anyway, so he and Fitzpatrick could be on the field together quite a bit even if they play the same "position."

Does this scouting report imply some good news we aren't privy to yet, Magnus? Has his interest recently heightened? Good tid-bits?

Not really. I've just always got the vibe that Fitzpatrick likes Michigan and I think Peppers will be in his ear, which is obviously a good thing.

Yeah, I remember hearing that, too. Since it seems to be a common "criticism," I wonder if he'll really be hitting the weight room this spring and summer to fix it.
