Scouting Colorado
I'm starting to get a little worried that the fans (not the team or coaches) are taking the Buff's too lightly. Not that it really matters what the fans think, except for the quality of discourse in the game threads and liveblog.
I've only watched the Colorado v. CSU game so far, but they look like an honest to goodness P5 team. Their QB is a senior that has a lot of experience and was good at making his reads. They run a spread tempo, and I hate playing tempo teams (too much trauma from the Carr/Hoke days).
We'll probably dominate on both lines, but they've got a lot of good players.
Both of their #4's look like solid athletes. #4 on Defense has good ball instincts and breaks on the ball well. #4 on Offense is a good blocking WR in addition to being a deep threat. I am very worried about him blocking Clark who had a bad day getting off blocks against UCF.
I still think we'll win the game, but I'm considering taking the points. (hope I'm wrong)
What do you guys think? Anyone watch both of their games yet?

They played Idaho State who lost 80-7 to UNLV last year. Yes that UNLV.
CSU won by 9 against UTSA this week and at the end of the day is still a MWC team.

Actually, the game was on Pac-12 Mountain. Took me about 30 seconds to find out.

I saw a shirt that said ShruteBeetFarms earlier.

Do you have any reason to beleive that CSU is any good? We have more 1st round picks on this team than players you have described as "solid athletes". This game will be closer than previous ones, particualrly if lewis can't play...but I think it will be a 35-14 type game. Maybe lower scoring due to thunderstorms.

But the University of Colorado abbreviates to CU, not CSU. We do not play CSU this year. We play CU.

They are indeed an honest to goodness P5 team, and UM is an honest to goodness top 5 team with an honest to goodness top 5 coach. We will cover.

I like the way our schedule is shaping up. Some years, we overlooked weak non-conf foes and stumbled. This shouldn't happen since we're stepping up the level of competition each week.
Also Harbaugh.

Our offense would blow weaker teams out, but stall against good teams.

Over the last 60 years, when Michigan opened the season 6-0 they lost no more than two games the rest of the way, to include bowl games.

They are a mediocre !AA team. I knew that Colorado would blow them out. It would be the equivalent of Michigan playing Valparaiso.
September 12th, 2016 at 9:48 PM ^
I know this is beside the point, but Valpo is well below a mediocre 1AA team. They're one of the worst teams in 1AA. I think they've had 8 wins since 2009 and atleast 3 of those were against D2 teams. Michigan playing Butler would be a much more apt comparison.

Colorado has players with similar recruiting profiles to UCF. A couple borderline 4* players, but mostly a bunch of generic 3* players. I get that people are traumatized from previous experiences against cupcake teams, but we have Harbaugh and a team loaded with NFL talent. This is not late Carr/RR/Hoke. This game will be "competitive" in the way the UCF game was "competitive". We may get outhit, but the score will not be close.
