Interesting that Central clans up that 21-40 area as those players are pretty good. Michigan might not be Ohio or Florida when it comes to pumping out recruits but it is usually somewhere around 10-15 overall. Explains why they are able to win so often in the MAC

Can anyone substantiate exactly where the state of Michigan comes in when it comes to pumping out DI talent? I don't really know myself, but I always thought that the perception was that we were a little lower than 10-15 overall. Like I said, I don't know myself, I am just operating on the perceptions of others, and I would like to know if anyone has anything more concrete.

I would think any rating system like that would be based on number of D1 players supplimented with top end talent. Population alone would give Michigan an advantage over the western states, hawaii, and a lot of the northeastern states. Alaska is out because of proximity. Of the states that are left, Michigan probably does well because of the number of D1 schools in the state. I would think 10-15 would be about right.

I remember reading somewhere that we are on par with the State of South Carolina....which, they're a southern state and all and have good talent, but I wouldn't say that they are necessarily a football factory down there. They also have a lower population as well. I think I read this in the most recent Maple Street Press publication (about a year ago) EDIT: Yes, it was an article supporting the fact that our program has to recruit nationally.

jtmc, I had to reply solely based on your signature. I am your age but took the 5 year route. I have a ton of friends that did it in 4 years and I am truly sorry. I hope though that you were at least able to make it to Pasadena that year as many of my friends did. go blue, man.

yeah, unfortunately these current kids are having an awful 4 year run. sounds like you were able to have a few good times. however if you missed the PSU game weekend that was a doozy. for me that involved watching it at Skeeper's. Then "running" to Bollinger's house for a home tour courtesy of the Mr and Mrs. Then I booted in one of those big concrete garbage cans on south U before rallying at Mitch's. Coincidentally I happened to be in grad school at Carolina the only two years in the last ~50 that they didn't make the NCAA tourney. That kinda sucked.
