...says Denzel Valentine of Big Ten Tourney favorite MSU, which is 5-7 in its last 12 games. Cumong, man.
4000 square feet - holy crap. we have two scoreboards that are each about twice the size of the floorprint of a regular house.
It's Christmas in August
in size to the video screens on the older scoreboards at the Big House?
It's not what she said, it's what the press release says:
"The demolition and removal of the existing video boards began in March. Over the next several months, TS Sports will install new state-of-the-art LED screens in both end zones of Michigan Stadium, which will be 40 percent larger than the previous system."
That'll learn me, trying to read the press release and participate in a conference call here at work.
Thanks for being my eyes while I wasn't paying attention!
they are 40% bigger meaning the old ones were a tiny 1428 square feet
Do they still need the row of lights on top of the press box/luxury boxes or is there enough light from those video boards?
Will be surrounded with unsightly ads.
Holy effing godzillatron balls Batman.
unfortunately, godzillatron is still significantly larger, at a massive 7370 sq feet.
True, but we're gonna have two of them, so we'll have more square footage of awesomeness. Booyah! Take that Texas!
Also, this puts us in the top 10 and knocks Indiana out, and ahead of Nebraska. Only one bigger in the Big Ten is, Minnesota? What?
Autzen's are 85 x 33. Ours will be 85 x 47, a full 20% larger than Autzen's.
If your dimensions are correct, they are 42% larger than Autzen's.
I am excited, but man I wish they were up in time for the spring game.
HOW WILL WE KNOW WHO IS WINNING?!?!?!
Good point. I hope it's the good guys that win though... I'm bit of a homer.
wish we could go back to Nike. seeing that adidas logo on the scoreboard saddens me.
I'm sorry, did you not see the same Nike uniforms I did last season (OSU, Oregon, etc)? No thanks.
Agreed...In general, I tend to like Nike's apparel and branding better, but DAMN they're gone off the deep end with respect to third/alternate/throwback jersies.
The Backyard Brawl was the most hideous thing I've ever seen. And that's not just because Pitt lost.
I doubt you'll notice the Adidas logo as much when you're watching a replay of Denard- ..well, Denarding some poor defense and coasting into the end zone on the new jizz-worthy big screens
Nike's favorite passtime is rebranding schools.
Not a fan.
I am a fan of these scoreboards though. I drove by the stadium the other day and it looks eerie without the giant block "M" facing you as you drive down Main.
On the college front, TS Sports has recently completed projects at the University of Oregon, University of Connecticut and Ohio State University.
This does not bode well for our compliance office.
So will the entire scoreboard now just be one big LCD screen, or will there still be a seperate section for the score, time, yards, etc?
They'll be able to divide it up however they want on the fly, probably. Think windows on a computer screen.
Don't forgot Down and Distance and TOL for each team.
I gotta say it was a good day.
I know Godzillatron is pretty cool and all, but has anyone else read about the insane amount of advertizing they have on the board? The amount of space dedicated to the game and replays and stuff is sometimes less than 50%. I would imagine that our scoreboard will have more effective football space than theirs.
I hope there will be speakers in both endzones. Having speakers in only one endzone was really annoying last year.
weren't really small, they were just small compared to the rest of the stadium.
The video board was definitely too small by today's standards.
I'm looking forward to actually seeing replays at Yost. That's what I'm most excited about. I don't know if this will make us not boo refs for every single call, but that's what I'm most excited about. We had video board at the Big House and Crisler, I think. Yost has never had video. It should be awesome. I think it looks better than Crisler's too.
You can be as far away as Dexter and know the score without the need of the Internet or television. I like it!
