School Pride
I know previously there was alot of complaining, with good merit, when certain former Michigan players said their HS football team or whatever else instead of the Univerity of Michigan when doing intros on Sun and Mon night football. I was wondering if anyone noticed Derrick Mason last night saying his HS instead of MSU as well as a number of other players saying various things including Suggs saying he wen to his parents university? Just sort of made me think that it's probably not former players putting our team down, but just maybe just maybe them doing something different. I guess it's hard not to get your panties in a bunch with all the negative publicity we have been getting, but this just put it in perspective better.
Go Blue and beat MSU

have been going on for a long time on the pro football broadcasts. It does catch you off guard sometimes if you do not know the player and wonder how he made it from high school to college.

yea. most people know those players went to Michigan. why say Michigan when you can give your high school a little love? i never had a problem with it.

When Braylon said "Lloyd Carr's University of Michigan", that was something to possibly get upset about. But when fans become angry about a player saying the name of his high school, this is just whiny people searching for any reason to complain.

Would it be wrong if they said they were from "the University of Whiny Fans (UWF)"? It would offend people, but would it really be that off-base? Just some food for thought.

Some of the shout outs have a legit reason. Aaron Rodgers mentioned some unknown school instead of Cal during one game. The announcers later mentioned that it was a JuCo he had attended. He apparently just wanted to give them a little public high five.
I, for one, would always say "Michigan!" though the temptation to have my grade school bask in the public spotlight for that fleeting moment would be very hard to resist.

I would be tempted to say "Parts Unknown" like the masked wrestlers of the 80's>

I think this complaining is dumb. I've seen Woodson say his high school. Does anyone think that means he hates Michigan? The man just gave 2mil to the hospital. There's nothing wrong with repping your high school every once in a while.

Exactly but in this hyper sensitive state most of our fans r it just gives them ample fuel for the already giant bon fire.

They probably just want to get a little press for the high schools they attended. Could you imagine beign a HS kid and your school getting a shout out from a famous graduate? That'd be pretty cool.
As long as they don't pull the "Lloyd Carr's University of Michigan" or actually attempt to degrade Michigan, I don't have a problem with it.

from my high school who played in the NFL. He played in the super bowl a few years ago and called out our high school and i have to say it was cool. Of course he didn't go to Michigan...

I think the high school love is kinda funny when you consider the player chose the college they attended but they sure as hell didn't chose the city they grew up in.

calm down and remember that Ohio is probably a lot easier to spell than some of the high schools.
