You'll have a chance then because he also said the niners have called a press conference this afternoon to introduce him...
January 7th, 2011 at 3:47 PM ^
49ers announced a press conference for this afternoon to announce it, according to Adam as well.

Come on down, Mr. Patterson.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:47 PM ^
Who's going to step up??
January 7th, 2011 at 3:47 PM ^
Dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmn
January 7th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Press conference this afternoon... on to next candidate...
January 7th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
it's a post. There is no link, no opinion, no nothing. At least give us a few sentences about the topic. I know it's news, but you need to put some thought into starting a new thread on this site. Ya dig?
January 7th, 2011 at 3:50 PM ^
And if I didn't have to use my iphone to start a thread, believe me I would. You work with what you've got available to you...
January 7th, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
I guess I missed the "posted from iphone" part on the topic...

PATTERSON
January 7th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
good luck with your next level of challenges. Once in a lifetime opportunity has been lost for you and the rest of us.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Seriously. DB. Go call Patterson. Now.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
Next.
Not that I don't desparately want JH. But, enough of the drama. He is a great coach. There are other very good coaches out there who will not bolt for the NFL in 3-5 years.
Personally (I know that Brian will puke), I am pulling for Hoke. He wants the job above all others. It would be his dream job. To me, that counts for a lot, as his love of Michigan might prove infectious.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:52 PM ^
Hoke is not my favorite at all, but honestly, I would be OK with him just for the reason you stated. That much desire for the job would go a long way in movitating the players and the fan base.
January 7th, 2011 at 4:07 PM ^
If nothing else, this gives DB the ammunition to say "look, we tried*, he went somewhere else, we have to focus our efforts on finding the next great coach of Michigan who isn't JH." He also prepared us for this at the press conference.
It's all good - I hope we can help Patterson across that bridge he was talking about.
*assuming he tried
January 7th, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
The goddamn plane has crashed into the mountain. We're not so good at hiring coaches, or so it appears.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:34 PM ^
Are you fucking crazy? The guy in seat 17, row 68 probably wants the job pretty badly, too. He's a fat fucking slob that never went to Michigan and was only able to score season tickets because of the defection of the blue hairs during the RR era, but, hey, his love of Michigan might prove infectious. Why don't we hire him? Who gives a shit about his ability to recruit or his ability to coach? He L-O-V-E-S Michigan! I once saw him swear off beer for a whole year on the condition that Michigan come from behind and beat Wisconsin in the 500th game at the Big House in 2008. And guess what? Michigan came back and won! I mean, is this guy perfect or what? He could just swear off different things each game (hot dogs, internet porn, corn dogs, pay-per-view porn, etc.) and Michigan would never lose!
January 7th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Stay Classy MGO!!
January 7th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Damn you Dave Brandon!!!!1!
I've been tugging Jim Harbaugh's dong for the past three months, and now he isn't going to come here to be our coach. Instead of being mad at myself for screaming about something that probably wasn't going to happen, I'm going to be unreasonably mad at you. You know, just because I'm never wrong!!!!1!!!!. YOU REALLY FUCKED THIS UP BRANDON!!!!!!111!!!!q11!
Signed,
Every loudmouth in the Michigan fanbase
January 7th, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
. . . and I like it.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
While we're in the blame game, I say let's kill the messenger. Schefter is a tool.
January 7th, 2011 at 4:04 PM ^
I am a loudmouth.... but I wasn't clamoring for JH.
January 7th, 2011 at 4:18 PM ^
I don't blame him for not landing JH, I blame him for having to wait until Jan. 7th to hear that news.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
ANy more of these and i'm fixin to donkey punch someone
January 7th, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
I figured it out. Harbaugh is really Santa Claus.
January 7th, 2011 at 4:12 PM ^
No wonder I didn't get that copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops that I asked for! Son of a B-tch!
January 7th, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
And the press conference seals it. Dammit. Despite everything I still had some hope, but clearly should have just given up on Tuesday.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
I will root for him, but I don't ever want to hear his name come up again should we need a head coach.
January 7th, 2011 at 4:22 PM ^
Why root for him now? He's clearly proven he was all about his own glory rather than becoming part of something greater than himself. I was rooting for him but he turned me against him in about 36 hours. There are tons of crap NFL jobs that come open every year. Michigan is probably (hopefully) a once in a lifetime opportunity for him, and he turned us down and embarrassed us in the process. If it was about his wife hating cold weather...I guess I could sympathize with that. It's probably for the best, since he would've dragged us through this every year or two until he fulfilled his NFL dream.
January 7th, 2011 at 4:50 PM ^
When Jim harbaugh is fired in three years because the 'niners still suck, then we'll all have our revenge!
(Except it is looking more and more like we're still going to be hurting three years from now as well ...)
January 7th, 2011 at 5:04 PM ^
He is dead to me.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
John Harbaugh. GO CHEFS (great googly moogly)!
January 7th, 2011 at 3:50 PM ^
the John Harbaugh rumors were agent-driven for more cash.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
hes only getting 5mil / yr. thats what really pisses me off about this
January 7th, 2011 at 4:07 PM ^
Which we (or probably Stanford could have paid). So he obviously just wants to be in the NFL. Which is almost better than being spurned for another NCAA program.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
Cook those birds!
January 7th, 2011 at 3:59 PM ^
I don't know, the BELLHOPS are offering some tough competition to those CHEFS...
January 7th, 2011 at 3:50 PM ^
Damn. I sort of knew this was coming, but I still had hope.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:50 PM ^
tear
January 7th, 2011 at 4:01 PM ^
That's just wrong...DAMN. LOL! Hysterical!
January 7th, 2011 at 4:11 PM ^
Shouldn't that be Kirk Ferentz?
January 7th, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
It's perfect.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
At least it's over and the fanbase can move on to someone else.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
Let's move on.
At least he didn't go back to Stanford - then he'd really be a jerk.
January 7th, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
So much for bleeding Maize and Blue. He bleeds flaming san fran colors. Good luck with TRoy Smith as your QB. Thanks for the help.
