Schad: Miles to interview with Michigan

Submitted by shorts on

Yeah, I know Joe Schad is NOT always accurate, but still:

Michigan has expressed desire to interview Les Miles; expected to happen, sources say

Let's discuss. Again.

If DB is interviewing Miles, and both sides are acknowledging it, Miles will will be our coach. The "formal interview" is the last step in the process.

I'd take 80% of the overall speed and size he had running around on that field last night. It isn't going out on a limb to say that he'll bring us over that and not break a sweat trying.  We can beat anyone in the land any day just on talent alone if he can. One thing that gets overlooked but you hear his players say time and again is that he is a superb motivator and communicator. No one every claimed he is the modern Tom Landry of X's and O's but I get the feeling he knows what he needs, he gets it, preps it, turns it loose, and that wins him lots of games.

Dantonio turns 55 in two months. Les just turned 57. Tressell is 58. If he gives us five years and stocks us with some players like we saw last night, I'd be thrilled.

Plus as someone said yesterday: the man is luckier than a shithouse rat.

This is not an original thought, but it bears repeating: - eat grass and win with talent = eccentric - eat grass and lose with less talent = weirdo Bottom line, winning covers up for a lot of ills. I don't want oversigning, crushing dreams of 18 year olds. So he's gonna need to be managed.

the wins look nice, but consider that NC was with saban's players. that before the second half of this season, the fire les contingent at LSU had been very loud since about the year after he won the championship. that many people think lsu wins despite his coaching, not because of it.

his on the field stuff is questionable, but off the field is not: he's got more than one closet full of skeletons. dicking over 18 year olds is wrong. bringing those sanctions on LSU should make his hiring a non starter alone. the negative recruiting against carr means we're unlikely to have a united program... i could have sworn that was an issue at one point... and then theres that rumor about les and moeller's wife.

if les is the hire, fine. ceratinly not my first choice but i'd support the program still and hope for the best. i just would prefer not to have to hold my nose while cheering on the team.

crap, MGo thinks I'm a spammer.  Oh well, my shortened message is that guys at Tiger Droppings are reporting that Joe Shad said on the radio that Les to MI is nearly a done deal.

Their board provides much needed comic relief.  Man, our HC search could put a lot of things in motion (unless its Hoke, in which case ..."yawn")

Out of curiosity, what is the general feeling about Mullen?  Specifically, I'm looking at you M-Wolverine, PurpleStuff, and Erik.  This is as good a thread as any.

He's a very good young coach, but I just don't see Brandon refusing to give Rodriguez a chance with Denard as a junior only to turn around and hire a guy with way less resume who also isn't bringing his DC with him (assuming Diaz to Texas is a done deal).

Brandon's handling of this whole situation only makes sense to me if he hits a home run with the hire and everybody in the country is talking about Michigan (in a good way) the next day.  Still hoping he can get that done.

Schad: Twitter is my girlfriend because she doesn't judge me based upon superficialities or things that I can't possibly change about myself, such as my yearning for computer related love making, my need to lick staplers, or my profusely large testicles, which creak in the night like ghost hooves.
