SB Wins 2 More Today; Now 11-2

The SB Team won 2 more games today at the FAU Tourney in Boca Raton, Florida. We took #6 Kentucky to the wood shed 3-0 and eeked past Kent State 1-0 in 9 innings.

Against Kentucky, Haylie gets the game ball without a doubt.  She pitched one helava game. She gave up only 2 hits while striking out 5 and walking zero.

The offense was led by Lyndsay by going 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.  Romo went 2 for 3 with a run scored.  Caitlin went 2 for 4 and Silo went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs.

In the second game today, and the second game against Kent State in as many days; Sara gets the game ball.  She pitched 7 innings and only allowed 2 hits.  She had 4 Ks and 0 BBs.  Haylie came on in relief and pitched the final 2 innings and stuck out 3 of the 6 batters she faced and did not allow a base hit.

The offense stuttered but finally put something together in the 9th.  Colie is the offensive hero by going 2 for 2 and knocking in the only run of the game with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs.  She took a pitch to left field and with Romo running on contact, there was no play at the plate.

Abby Ramirez continues to shine as she went 2 for 2 in the #2 hole.  This young lady will charm us all in a year or two.

Overall a great performance thus far for our ladies.  A good quality win against #5 Kentucky certainly takes the sting off the blown lead in the botton of the 7th against now #1 Florida earlier in the year.

Not sure why, but their school and/or fanbase just annoys me. They're up there with the obvious three, South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Philadelphia Eagles fans

Depending on how long you've felt this way, their super-villain b-ball coach may have something to do with that!

Scary to cut it that close against Kent State, but on the plus side the D was stellar again.  It's great the see Haylie taking it to the top teams in the country again, and Driesenga really needed a bounce-back game like this, and she came through big time.  All in all, a very good day for Michigan softball.  Now they've just got to finish out the weekend against FAU.  The Owls should be over-matched, although they have notched a couple Ws over Big Ten opposition, and as we saw against Kent State, you can't just cruise by anyone.

Actually we are 11-2, not 10-2. Also I agree, Haylie was dominant today. Had complete command of her pitches, both spin and location. After 28 innings here at this tournament, our pitching has only given up one run with three consecutive shutouts. So proud of them.
