SB Nation composite CFB rankings

Submitted by The Mad Hatter on

I don't recall seeing this posted before, but SB Nation has a top 25 composite ranking that uses the AP Poll, Coaches Poll, S&P+, Massey, and witchcraft.

OSU, Clemson, Baylor, and LSU are the top 4.  MSU is at 11 and we're right behind at 12.

Clemson has been impressive and I am surprised they are not getting more love from te coaches i.e. grad assistants who do the polls.  I think it's just the fear of the coming Clemsoning.  They've been burned too often before by believing in Clemson but right now advanced stats show Clemson is definitely top 4 in the country.

Will be interesting if Baylor can just plug and play yet another new QB in that offense.  If so I might just ram my head into a wall considering how we have trouble finding just 1.

And as much as I dislike ND have to give them credit for plugging along with a backup QB as well.

Looked like a team about to repeat this week. They are steamrolling defenses. Of course when you are 46-3 you need to fight complacently . Ohio State is so u send to winning that the team and the fan base no longer remember what it's like to leave a game as the loser. Usually when we need to remind ourselves what losing looks like we watch a UM game. That's losing at its best. So thanks to UM for contributing.

Not sure LSU takes that one. I mean it wouldn't shock me if they did, but it's in Tuscaloosa, and LSU is a one man show in Fournette.

Granted Fournette is the real deal and more, but Bama will sell out on the run to stop him, and they have maybe the best front seven in America. So that means that if LSU wants to win that game, their passing game will likely have to win it for them. And when was the last time you could count on a QB for LSU to win the big game?

Of course if LSU wins that game on the back of Fournette somehow, you might as well hand him the Heisman right after the game.

LSU reminds me of Ohio States team last year.  Very young all around with studs everywhere.  Only 1 Senior starter on offense and 2 on defense.  I think next year is LSU's year.  Harris is a good QB and has been progressing but I don't see him being able to lead them to the title this year, but another year of experience.. I'd watch out for them next season.

Lots of "play in" games coming up assume no weird stumbles

  • OSU v MSU
  • TCU v Baylor
  • LSU v Bama
  • ND v Stanford
  • Clemson v FSU is not a play in per se but Clemson's only real game left.

And if Stanford gets by ND and Utah doesnt lose from here, the P12 championship game will also be a play in.

Oklahoma could still get in too as they have Baylor, TCU, Ok State.  Damn B12 is all backloaded in Nov this year.

Utah played unexpectedly bad against USC, especially Wilson.  I mean, come on, two picks that were thrown almost directly into Cameron Smith's chest?  Utah had an early lead and then promptly transformed into an awful turnover machine.  The game was extremely annoying because Vegas liked USC as the favorite and Utah played like they were trying to appease Vegas.

My god I'd love UM and MSU to play again this year. Let's just cancel the Minnesota game and schedule MSU instead. We'd win (again).

Did they do this last year and if they does anyone know the coerrelation between the composite and the CFP rankings? I know the AP has a nearly perfect coerrelation from last year so I wonder what the others polls are
