SB Nation Bowl forecast..UM to Rose
Updated Bowl Predictions...UM to beat OSU and go to Rose
They have MSU in CFP and Iowa to the Fiesta....At this point assuming MSU wins out it would help our cause at a NY6 if Iowa loses to Nebraska...Can you believe we are even IN this conversation given the past years....ONE MORE TO GO...Beat OHIO!

What a difference a year makes with a new staff. There are 5 B1G teams that are 9-2 or better. Michigan, NW, MSU, OSU, and Iowa. We could end up in about 5-6 different bowls depending on the next 2 weeks. However, we are looking at New Year's day regardless. Options such as Rose, Fiesta, Peach, Citrus, Outback are all possibilities.

I have to pinch myself that we are here at this moment with a chance at a Rose Bowl or Fiesta Bowl at a MINIMUM( If we win)..and bigger things if MSU were to lose...at the beginning of the season even the most optomistic predictions had 8 wins.. a handful said 9 but not many ...I think most were between 6-7 wins..and that was going to be a good season...

Since we had a lot of potential talent. A lot teams would have killed to have both Green and Isaac on their team. Its too bad their potential talent has not been realized. I still have hope that one or both will improve enough to be great next season?

The Rose in year 1 of Harbaugh would be absolutely incredible. We are only going to get better from here.

The difference this time is that the winning will continue.

ROSE BOWL GAME PRESENTED BY NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL (Pasadena, Calif.)
1. When not hosting a semifinal, the Big Ten Champion will play in the Rose Bowl Game, unless among the top four teams.
2. If the Big Ten Champion qualifies for the playoff, the Rose Bowl Game will choose a replacement Big Ten team.
3. The Rose Bowl Game has sole discretion on a replacement team, and will generally select the highest‐rated available team, but will take into consideration final College Football Playoff rankings, head‐to‐head competition, division champions and most recent Rose Bowl Game appearances.

The Rose would be a huge accomplishment in year 1!

That's another great thing about the CFP, theres no limit on conferences. However, I would think that Iowa at 12-1 would go to the Rose and a 10-2 Michigan would be relegated to the fiesta bowl or one of the other 2 NY6 Bowl Games.

and would say Harbaugh be National Coach of the Year

probably shouldn't say relegated, but instead awarded

According to JUB (on the Jamie Morris show this morning), the Rose Bowl would take a 10-2 Michigan team over Iowa.
Beat OSU and I'll be happy with either the Rose, Fiesta or Peach Bowl. You also have to remember, Iowa still has to play at Nebraska so it's not a given they go 12-1.

Neb is not a bad team...snake bit all year and just when they looked dead in the water they beat MSU and Rutgers and can get to a bowl if they beat their rival Iowa ..ruin their unbeaten season and its at Neb..this has upset written all over it

Conference title game losers tend not to be that popular. The fan bases tend not be excited and may not travel.

Where will we be 2-4 years from now? When this is truly a team built fully in Harbaugh's image?

Perfectly fine not going to conference title game this year, so long as we beat OSU and go to Rose Bowl. Rose Bowl is a nice consolation prize for not even winning the Big Ten. We're still not out of it, though, as MSU can still lose next week. I don't think that will happen, but that's OK.

we will prob be #10 or #11....OSU ahead of us so that would put us up higher and that alone would prob seal the deal and we will move up even higher as some of those teams ahead of us like OK or OK ST..Stan or ND knock each other off..there are 12 slots..1 awarded to a non power 5 that leaves 11 spots to the highest ranked teams of which we would be one...just gotta WIN THE GAME!

We need Nebraska to beat Iowa at this stage.
GO NEBRASKA AND GO PENN STATE!

that was I was thinking when I posted the topic...that would really help our cause...UNLESS MSU loses...then it would be better for them to be undefeated if we were to play them.....Alot to be still determined...Its going to be a VERY long week waiting...Just want it to get here!

I think that will happen..Nebraska at home with a bowl game on the line is going to be TOUGH...they have been snake bitten all year long and now after the MSU game and Rutgers the fact they even have a bowl chance will make them very hard to beat..I think it happens

The Rose Bowl would be great. Not so much if it's the Citrus/Outback. Hate those bowls. I also hate conference affiliations with bowl games. Bowls should be able to pick their match-ups. Do it on a rotating basis. Shake things up a bit.

and dont remember the OLD days when the bowl system had only a handful of tie ins and the top teams rarely met..ALTHOUGH in 1984 a 6-5 Michigan team landed in the Holiday bowl against #1 BYU and almost won...however I am getting kind of tired of Orlando and Tampa
November 22nd, 2015 at 11:12 AM ^
I don't remember bowl games not having tie-ins. For Michigan a lot of years it was Rose, Citrus, or Outback with an Orange and an Alamo thrown in there. I'd just like there to be bowl games with teams that people would actually want to watch. Ohio State/Michigan vs Florida State/Oklahoma/Oklahoma St./Navy/etc... AND playing in areas other than Tampa/Orlando like you said.

is leap years better than the past...There was a stretch I think 1971-1973 where Michigan was 30-2-1 and didnt go to ANY Bowl game becuase the BIG would only let 1 team go and that was to the Rose Bowl...2 OSU losses and the Unforgettable 10-10 tie in 73..(I was at that game) so by comparison way better..But...today the ties in are getting repetitive ..the Big has swithced things up a little bit this year and next and Im all for that...Whatever happens we will be in a New Years Day Bowl game and THAT alone is a miracle....Harbaugh will take us to the Playoffs within 2-3 years I believe!! THANK GOD we got him

Although I don't know how the now vastly changed BTCG picture factors in entirely, I would take the Rose Bowl if it somehow worked out that way. It would definitely still sit well above what seems like a very conservative estimate of lilkely bowls made back in August, along with record and other predictions. Who would have thought in year one, eh?

In Harbaugh's first year no less........

Watching the M game again. Hackenberg definitely made some nice throws downfield. I am sure Sparty will have a better DL because of our injuries. If PSU holds up, Hack can make some big throws downfield that OSU could not do. On the other hand, if Cook doesn't play and MSU tries to keep running on PSU, I think they will have trouble as PSU does have some good DLs and LBs. There is a chance for PSU to win, albeit small.
On the other hand, I would take a NY6 bowl. Hope MSU gets upset in the next two weeks.
