SB Bounces Back; Mercies BC 14-2 in 4 innings on Tuesday

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

The SB Team came back strong today against BC 14-2 in 4 innings.  The ladies are on the "Spring Break Tour" in Florida.

Caitlyn Blanchard went 1 for 1 with a walk, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Sierra Romero went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.

Sara Driesenga was the winning pitcher.  She gave up 2 runs (0 ER) off 1 hit.  She struck out 4 and walked 2 in 3 innings of work.  She faced 14 batters.  Alice Fitzpatrick came in a clean up role for the last inning.

Its nice to see the ladies get back to winning habits.  They finished the game quickly so they can get back to the hotel to watch the BB game.

I think that Big Ten softball has all women coaches, whereas it seems to me that men are more prominent in the SEC and PAC 12 conferences. Do you think the Big Ten is intentional about that? Do you think men and women take different approaches to softball, in that men are likely coming from a baseball background? How would your own experience serve you in coaching college softball, should the event ever arise?
