Saturday weather update

Submitted by amir_6 on
All week there was speculation of whether or not there would be rain during and before the duration of the big game. The weather is now looking great as there is projected to only be a 15-25% chance of rain from from 12pm-8pm with the temperatures floating around the mid-low 60s. It's going to be a cloudy one as well, classic Big Ten weather!

It's been raining pretty good the past 24 hours here in West Michigan, so using highly advanced scientific reasoning, the sky will be low on its falling water reserves tomorrow.

radar shows that there will be rain in the general vicinity, but not like a big "swath" of rain like we have seen the last couple of days.  It will be heavy rain in the AM, spotty showers after that.

I just checked the weather channel and the local report said that Hamburg should have morning showers with some clouds but no rain in the afternoon. I would think Ann Arbor would have the same forecast.

Weather Channel is a good resource if you are looking for weather info a good week or so out.  They are not particularly good at the finite details of specific regional weather, but they are very accurate for giving you a general "heads up" as to what you can expect.  Much more accurate in that regard to Accu Weather or Weather Bug.

Winds, on my AccuWeather, have increased in the past 12 hours...from 6-8 ENE to 10-17 E. this could significantly affect the passing game. Thus tightening this game up a bit.

Good thing we have a great short passing game...a slew of great TE's..and many running backs and slots to throw short passes too;-)

That's the hour-by-hour projection of various weather metrics from the National Weather Service site, which is what I tend to use myself. Right now for gametime, they are forecasting temperatures in the mid to upper 60s with about a 60% shot at some rain, which of course in Michigan terms means it will still either flood out or mysteriously be sunny.

Is either team at an advantage if the weather is bad?  I tend to think we would prefer dry conditions as we have more playmakers on the outside.  And winds and rain typically lead to low scoring, close games where anything can happen--not an advantage for the team that is favored.
