Saturday Sports OPEN Thread
This is actually a pretty decent day for sports, however, I'm not sure anything really deserves it's own thread outside of the Army AA Game.
That said, we can use this thread for all of the games today. Here are some games of note:

Miller to return to OSU, Shazier entering the draft. That's a major loss for their already bad defense.

Junior Hemingway looks bigger than he did at Michigan. Good to see him making an impact for the Chiefs. I knew he was a steal when he went in the 8th round or whatever it was.

That fumble by brown reminds me of the Michigan-Notre dame came 2 years ago, when Michigan came back and Denard picked up that fumble and scored
January 4th, 2014 at 9:48 PM ^
UTL redux right there, although whereas Denard was so smooth it almost looked planned, Luck's run wasn't quite as pretty...

we've got a game on our hands.

KC is now done their top 2 RBs, a starting WR, and a starting CB.

Most unreal comback ever. Factoring in Luck's interceptions, I simply cannot believe what I've just seen. Fire everyone on the Chiefs defensive staff. Don't even wait until the end of the game.

That was the worst clock management by KC ive ever seen they wasted both the 2 minute warning and their last timeout. They just made this a one play game on purpose. How stupid

This game was announced as Defense Optional.

Andy Reid team chokes in the playoffs again
January 4th, 2014 at 8:06 PM ^
Story of Andy Reid's career. Team plays great in the regular season and just can't get it done in the post season. That being said, he did wonders for what was a pretty terrible team just last year.

Larry Foote, who was on primetime games a ton because the Steelers are on so frequently, never says Michigan. I don't think he's got a problem with UM, because he was one of the alumni who participated in RR's alumni flag football game that used to be warmup for spring game. I've never heard Avant say Michigan, and I know there's at least one other Michigan player who does the same thing, but I'm forgetting who it is. It's not Tom Brady, it's not Lamarr Woodley, but I'm blanking on who it is.
Anyway, it does seem to happen to Michigan more than anyone-- grumble, grumble.

You know the School!

The people who compain about this shit are extremely petty.
They're the kind of people that I hope I'm never associated with.
WHO GIVES A SHIT?!
Now, about Avant. So I can prove my point even more.
I'm going to go all caps for this one, just because it's so silly that people get so worked up over this...ready?
THE REASON JASON AVANT SAYS HIS HIGH SCHOOL IS BECAUSE HE'S FROM CHICAGO! YOU KNOW? WHERE KIDS ARE KILLING EACH OTHER AT AN ALARMING RATE?
HE SAYS HIS HIGH SCHOOL BECAUSE HE WANTS TO SHOW KIDS IN CHICAGO THAT THEY CAN MAKE IT AND MAKE SOMETHING OF THEMSELVES!
Whew...that felt good.
A quote: "kids at Michigan are going to be fine, they're going to make a living as soon as they get their degree...where I'm from, many of those kids never have a chance. If I inspire one kid from my neighborhood to stay on the straight path and aspire to achieve his or her goals at the highest level by simply showing them that I did it...it's worth it."
Avant is a model citizen and is simply trying to show kids from Chicago that they can make it too. Why is this such a big deal? He didn't say "THE Ohio State University."
If one kid at his school sees him on TV and wants to be like him and do what it takes to make it out of Chicago, isn't it worth it? Doesn't that make it okay?
I'm sure many NFL players are just trying to be funny or different, but why does it matter? Is Michigan going to implode if they don't mention them? Maybe they didn't like their experience...hell, I loved college, but I don't like the University I graduated from. Not everyone has a great relationship with their school...now I get Michigan is what got Avant to where it is. That makes sense. But not mentioning the maize and blue doesn't change that.

...just to see how many people are bitching about Jason Avant not saying "University of Michigan."
