Until a CIL gets put up.......talk away
IU moving nicely down the field in their first drive.
Wisco has first and goal
Bucks missed a FG, but already getting the ball back. The Under 50 is a lock. I should have grabbed it.
scores for IU. he's a scrapper.
Wow, that seemed incredibly easy for the Hoosiers.
Yeah, that looked almost as good as Michigan's first drive last week :-\
Ha I was just going to start one of these after Indiana took the opening possesion for a TD against Iowa, this should be a much better game than OSU. Gotta get my favorites button organized for these early games
Wisconsin drove 80 yds for a TD without a single pass. That's good news for next week.
Pryor just threw a ball to someone not named Posey or Sanzenbacher. And throws what should have been a pick-6 or TAINT if you will, trying to force it to Posey.
against Akron. Yay getting the MAC game of the week on MyTV20.
Pryor has no pocket presence what so ever
new mexico state's got him all confused
And the boo birds come out in columbus.
Pryor just can't make the reads. Every time he looks to throw, he looks the receiver straight in the eye the entire play. Ohio State will be New Mexico St., but its gonna be closer than they like.
Is anyone watching Wisconsin vs. Purdue? Isn't the rule that the player has to have possession all the way to the ground? I thought it was a good call by the officials.
It seems as though every time that play happens there is a differnet interpretation of the rule.
ESPN classic has the Horror on. Is that because it's
Haloween? What a terrible thing to do.
OSU looks incredibly beatable as long as our defense is as good as NM St.
Also, Pryor runs scared. Every play.
He's terrified because he knows everybody on the field could be a murderer.
not looking particularly sharp today
Pass interference call in Iowa game was brutal, damn let defenders defend please, something needs to be done.
Iowa looking really bad, hope MSU looks similar this evening against gophers
Stanzi with another interception. He looks terrible.
On one hand, I'm not concerned about them yet.
They do not care if they play behind all day.
But, man I'm down 24 points already in this one. Brutal.
is on ESPNU. Tied up 7 - 7 at the moment.
This FSU-NCSU game is a snoozer. FSU finally scored a TD, but everything about this game is boring. Doak Campbell looks about 2/3 full, it's gray and raining, and the announcers sound bored.
My open thread ironic curse lives on!
Russell Wilson just nailed an 80 yard touchdown strike immediately after the FSU score.
Does anyone think Iowa deserves a top 10 ranking much less #4. Based on what I saw last night, USF would blow away Iowa. Giving up the TE TDs and the TOs hurt us so much. In 1-2 years we'll be head and shoulders above evryone in the perennially weak Big 10
Iowa played a rather respectable non-conference schedule, beating Iowa State and Arizona, and also has a big win over Penn State in Happy Valley, a game that Iowa dominated after the first quarter. Iowa's problem is that their running backs keep getting injured and their QB sucks. But in terms of resume (which is what should be used at this point in the season), Iowa clearly outclasses most of the nation. The only thing they lack are blowout wins over the cupcakes they've played.
right? Iowa is a good team. Sound. Few mistakes. Remind me a little of our 97 team in that respect. If they can make it through the big 10 schedule, which they may not, I give them a good shot. Ferentz is a good coach, and they'll prepare well for whatever bowl game they're in.
Pryor ran it in from eight yards out. On the bright side, they're looking very mediocre against New Mexico State. Their rush offense has been terrible (outside of Pryor scrambling).
with an onside kick which the kicker recovered. tressel pulling out all the stops. he is, after all, laying 44 1/2 points...
They only ran the ball once that drive. I'm not sure if Tressel just wants to have Pryor throw the ball more or if he's losing confidence in his backs, who have been atrocious thus far.
7-3 on Auburn. I didn't realize Ole Miss was in the top 25. The more you know...
They absolutely do not deserve to be.
Holy sweater vest batman, an onside kick?
OSU pulling out the big guns with an onside kick against NM State.
I wonder if he realizes how sad that onside kick is. I'm guessing, deep down, he knows.
Mhmm. There's no pride in that touchdown. Especially after the worst PI call of the year.
I didn't see it but I really doubt that it was worse than the one in the EMU game.
Maybe not, but it's the most recent. You know how that goes. The OSU receiver grabbed the defender by the jersey and dragged him down on top of him.
Iowa remains in funk, I'm in one too, better get these damn leaves raked before 3:30
If anyone is watching Ole Miss-Auburn...
So Auburn gets a terrible stop after a 3rd down run that should have been a 1st down, and then proceeds to get stuffed on 4th down. The refs down there really have been working on being awful.
I am hoping for this IU lead to hold up into half.....maybe a sweet set up for a second half bet on Iowa. You have to think they'll wake up offensively, right?
Yeah, I am expecting Iowa to put up 28 unanswered and for IU to choke this up.
But maybe not...
Does anybody know why they do a version a the Florida Chomp on 4 th down
It's the idea of a Hawk beak chomping down.
Yes, I'm serious.
Awesome fake field goal by Cincinnati.
That wasn't a fake. He botched the snap.
Yeah you're right. I just saw it on a gamebreak.
why don't college teams run the onsides kick like tOSU almost every play? i'm being serious though it would be annoying to watch. then once a team thinks you'll be doing it (b/c you did it the previous 3 times) you just go with the conventional kick off. IMO it seems like a pretty cheap play, only to kick it 10 yards (too easy).
ALSO, i hate how the offense always get the benefit of the doubt. i've seen this so much this season for some reason. in the tOSU-NMSU game it was clearly offensive pass interference. i've seen that blown call so many damn times this year in particular going the wrong way. frustrating..
Saine stripped by NM State.
For anyone getting the NIU-Akron game, Northern's QB is DeMarcus Grady, of Grady fame.
Whiskys' d is looking good today. Getting a lot of pressure.
Also, it seems like when NM State's QB gets out of the pocket and starts rolling out, he's got quite a bit of room. If Tate or Denard gets in that situation, we could have some pretty big plays.
OSU will be much better prepared for QB runs when they play us. Especially with Denard in. We might be able to get a couple, but I fully expect OSU to be ready for it.
INT by Wisconsin
To starting walking away with this game. NMS doesn't have an offensive rythem going here.
Wait, NM St. fumbles it back to OSU.
Cuse just sacked Cincy qb wtih 3rd and about 5 to get the ball back. Personal foul gives Cincy the ball back. Wow. Huge bad call.
edit: Cuse got 'em on 3rd down again.
BTW, the go ahead TD for Cincy was on a botched field goal where they threw it up into the end zone after a xcramble for a td.
Indiana's version of the spread offense (pistol) is looking good today. It's not that they have been spectacular. They just keep converting on their key plays.
is more overrated than Boise State.........
Yeah. They sure look flat and totally unmotivated.
off on a stretcher. Hope he's ok.
Indiana 14 / Iowa 0.
Up 14-0 AT Iowa. lolwut?
Jamie, you're in the hole 31 there.
Looks out of sync today I'm not sure what is going on with the Hawkeyes right now but I've been impressed so far with Indiana. Well thats a good run there by McNutt!
This could get ugly for the Hawkeyes with Stanzi having to get them back in this game. They are not built to come from behind. More of a grind it out team.
He's on track for over 40 attempts. In a Jim Tressel coached game. Against New Mexico State. And he's not throwing the ball that well either.
Bad play by the Ind corner. Should have been deflected
Agreed. I thought he was going to get the pick.
THEY NEEDED THAT! That should get some momentum going
Blocked punt td by Whisky. Is Purdue just too hyped up in the past few weeks or is Whisky that good?
I haven't seen a white rb that fast since the last time I created myself in NCAA '10
of yard on the ground against Cincy. Looks like a seive.
edit: after stopping cuse for loss and short gain on 1st and 2nd downs, cuse throws underneath and picks up the first be running for 5 yac.
Anyone else notice on the BTN telecast of OSU how negative/critical Glen Mason is towards everything OSU? I like it don't get me wrong, but his remarks scream jealousy given that he practically begged for the OSU job that was given to Tressel.
He was a decent coach, winning bowl games at Kansas and Minnesota, but I'd have had a lot more sympathy for the man if he'd kept his mouth shut.
I want to see Brandon rip Pryor apart this year. I would love to see Pryor hit the maize M on the midfield marker and watch him stay down.
Still bitter? Or do you just like seeing college athletes get injured? I don't like Pryor, but I don't want to see him seriously injured either, just because he picked OSU over us.
YOUR NUTS?! I can't stand this guy! He's got an ego, he's an asshole off the field (I know because I have a friend who's buddy play's for osu and appearantly Pryor's not a social person to people outside the team and pal I live in FUCKING columbus ok. Give me a break. I hate OSU with a passion.
Posey looks better at QB than Pryor
Bill Lynch is one angry mofo!
He doesn't let much get by him! This guy if he was coaching hockey would probably catch every slash hook trip or cross check that the refs probably wouldn't lol.
I actually like him and love his fire. His tantrum after the controversial pick against Mich. was an instant classic
He's probably one of the most entertaining coaches to watch.
Indiana is looking good, but you get a sense that they'll implode in the second half. Iowa will just keep waiting for the Indiana QB to start making mistakes - he'll oblige.
going on in Dekalb. 6-0 N. Illinois.
throw (looked like Tate v. ND) to pick up a 1st down and goal from the 7 and down 14 - 7. Then throws a horrible pass in the end zone for a pick. Refs could have thrown an interference flag. Still a horrible pass.
The refs in this game have been VERY favorable to Cincy.
edit: FYI. Ron English vs. Ryan Mallet tonight at 7pm on ESPNU
tosu K Pettrey just got hurt. Couldnt put any pressure on his kicking leg. Looked serious
is an idiot. You know it's not where the ball is sitting after he's been tackled, slid forward and is starting to get up, right Bob?
And when the ball is still moving, it's not yet an obvious catch.
love that guy
I agree...he seems like really cool guy and is a good coach, consider the talent he has to work with.
That is going to haunt Iowa that's a bad turnover YIKES
Fumbled punt by Iowa. Ind has it on the 12
Thats a td by IND. They need to review that.
But the ruling o the field was incomplete, so they have to overturn it.
Then they've got to take the field goal.
Edit: I need to type faster.
RAWK music needs to be banned in every stadium in the country. There is no reason why anyone should be hearing Journey during a football game.
WOW 21-7 Yikes!
Didn't matter. WOW. Indiana is getting 17 point on the spread in this game too!
Cincy drives down to the 30 for a field goal with a second left. Kick made. But 'cuse called timeout before kick. Rekick after icing, no good. 14-7 at half Cincy.
Bill Lynch is crazy.
crazy like a fox
Iowa 31 Indiana 28.
Indiana is beating Iowa with their defense and special teams.
Does anybody like Mark May? I can't stand him!
I think that can be said for almost everyone who works for ESPN.
Well, he's not Lou Holtz. So he has that going for him.
Matlock is on ABC.
Just watched the halftime highlights and saw the OSU onsides kick up 7-0 on New Mexico State. Did anyone see this live? Was this just classless sportsmanship by OSU or was this really warranted this early in the game up a score?
It's Ohio State nuff said.
You say classless, I say tosu football. There was no need for them to do that. What does it prove. It is NMS
I figured it was classless play but I was ready to give them the benefit of the doubt without seeing the whole situation. Man you've gotta wonder what their motivation was.
I think. Nothing else makes any sense.
They also pulled out a trick pass by Posey. No idea why you waste these types of plays on teams like NM St. when you still have to play Penn St., Iowa, and UM in the coming weeks. But I guess it works for them.
Why not practice a play like that on NMSU?
You could run it against a better d in practice and not show it in a game against NMS.
but I don't think there's much worry about showing that play. It's a high-risk/high-reward move that I don't think we'll see in a seven point game against Penn State or Michigan.
I still stand by, why not, it's NMSU and the Vest just wanted to try some new material for the home crowd.
Now if they start lining Pryor up at receiver every other series and show that that ex-baseball backup can throw, then I'm with you.
You just have to wonder how much that tradgedy has affected UCONN. I feel bad for them. That is a terrible thing to go through and then have to collect yourself every Sat. to play with that empty locker sitting there.
It's funny that Iowa fell for the slant play at the end of the second quarter that they beat Sparty with last week.
Iowa is overrated. The announcers on ESPN are awful. They said that he had a 1st down on that one play and then the TD that was incomplete. It was pretty obvious that he was short and the guy was bobbling it.
In my opinion Iowa's not as good as everyone says they are. They barely pulled out a win over Northern Illinois. Very lucky they got past us because we outplayed them in that first half and of course the last game against Sparty. Iowa's not going to go undefeated.
I have no idea who to root for in that game. I was an Iowa fan for 4 years or so, but somehow watching the Hoosiers win is kind of satisfying. All I know is everytime I turn on the game, Indiana does something stupid. So hey, watching NCSU v. FSU.
Is that game on 360? I cant find it on TV anywhere.
Yes sir, halftime right now though.
So your options are basically Akron v. NIU or Coastal Carolina v. Clemson.
So yeah, go Huskies.
Speaking of that game, apparently Devoe Torrence, who you may remember as the running back that was too much of a thug and miscreant even for the Buckeyes, is apparently on Akron. But he didn't travel with the team today.
Thank you kind sir
That was an outstanding catch by Binns of Cincy!
OSU's backup kicker got it a couple yards deep on the KO.
Any update on Pettrey?
[Edit] Bouserman starting the second half
Indiana is really stepping up. That wasn't a bad throw, just a great play by the safety.
No. That was a really bad throw. Did you see how much the receiver had to slow down?
The WR has to come back to that ball.
Stanzi = The Pick Machine
That ball hung up there for awhile....but that was one awesome pick by the IU defender!
#20 Austin Thomas INT... nice makeup speed.
(when was the last time we saw a Michigan Safety do that?)
maybe 2004 or so...
Iowa really in trouble now.
Chase Holbrook come out of the stands and lead NMSU to a thrilling victory.
Does anybody else think Bill Lynch resembles Bill Curry?
Iowa is in BIG TROUBLE!
Stanzi pick train keeps rollin
oops again. darn near a TAINT
i think cyndi lauper said it best:
i see your true colors shining through
WOW what a turn of events. Iowa's back in it.
Trick or treat indeed. wait, what?
That is all.
I think Sash had that planned the whole time.
+1000 to you sir
Talk about your huge momentum swings. Gut check time for IND.
Wow sometimes better to be lucky than good. Iowa back in it.
they are lucky.
Holy cow dude, that pass bounced off FOUR people. If you believe in a season of destiny there is your case study right there.....WOW.
the kick off is a "Key Play"?
Bill Lynch is strangling somebody right now!
that 'cuse on the goal looking to score and turns it over. It could easily easily be 21-21. Should be 21-14.
that 'cuse on the goal looking to score and turns it over. It could easily easily be 21-21. Should be 21-14.
Chappell is looking pretty damn good.
Bill Lynch will murder someone if this is overturned!
are lighting it up. wowsa. bill lynch putting a hurting on the hubba bubba as well.
Did this team lose to Virginia? Indy looking good today.
edit: omg and overturned.....and then they miss the FG...are you kidding me?
Is being robbed, in front of God and everybody!
That was BS
Wow. How was there possibly enough to overturn?
IU just can't catch a freakin' break. Every call seems to go against them. Someone get Lynch some Maalox.
That Wisconsin - Purdue game is getting rediculous. What happened to the Boilermakers?
Iowa sucks they are lucky to be in this game at all.
Man, Indiana is getting screwed this season. Every close call seems to be going against them. Sure, it might have been a close call, but I saw nothing in those replays that was definitive proof that Indiana did not have his foot in.
Probably called that one in long distance. Good lord I can't believe that was overturned.
I didn't think he was in, but I also didn't think they had enough to overturn the call.
I thought the view from the opposite endzone clearly showed that his right foot sort of hovered above the ground and was never down until he landed out of bounds. Good call
On the other camera angle, you see the tiny black specks from the field fly up while his foot is still in bounds. That was a touchdown.
Hovering feet don't bounce.
are FUCKING Indiana. Feel bad for em. Home cookin.
If Ind loses this game Lynch will convert to the Pryor phylosophy when he explains why he went on a rampage.
Cop - " So why did you do it Bill? It was just a game."
Bill - " Everybody kills people!"
It was called a TD. How can there be enough evidence it was not. They got hosed!
What is it with teams getting jobbed by refs when going up against undefeateds this year? Seriously, that's at least four awful calls I've seen go against Indiana, and I've missed a good portion of the game.
Does the NCAA want five undefeateds at the end of the season or what?
That was an awful call. On the sideline view from the endzone, you can see the rubber bits from the turf thrown up after the catch while he's dragging his right foot.
There is no way you can overturn that. His right foot was down before his hips, and it was clearly being dragged...
Iowa is getting LUCKY. Big time.
It really doesn't matter in the end. Stanzi will lose this game for Iowa anyway...another pick
Man Stanzi looks bad out there. Where was this a few weeks ago.
Stanziball'd. He was looking right at the guy *again*
The ref had a sweet pick on that receiver, too. Maybe he felt bad that Indiana got jobbed...
And a SEC crew shows up in Iowa City.
How did they not review and overturn that Indiana INT? Iowa's supposed to win.
I just realized that A) ESPN U still exists. B) My cable system has it and C) they're showing the cincy game. FULL OF WIN.
I have adopted Cincy as my team this year (next to M) because I love BK and I hope they run the table and the BCS looks like a pack of fucktards again.
Cincy is in a BCS conference, but thanks for reminding me about ESPNU.
correct. You're going to have Fla/Ala and Texas likely undefeated, if Cincy runs the table too what's the BCS going to do? Boot cincy because they're not in your traditional football power conference. Which makes them look like fucktards.
that this is the Ricky Stanzi IU gets, while we got the 3rd and 24 pinpoint passing one. we also got pinpoint Darryl Clark. and pinpoint Ben Chappell. and...wait, i'm sensing a theme.
Stanzi gunning hard for it.
Most Passes Intercepted Game - 9 - John Reaves, Florida vs. Auburn, Nov. 1, 1969
Because with Stanzi looking like he might end the game with more interceptions than completions at the rate he is going, it might be a good time to get him out of the game.
That was not a catch.
17-7 over Ole Miss. I forgot about this game.
Are on fire with the accurate calls (lol)
Can they just fire Bob Davie now for having sex with some ESPN intern? He just is full of fail this whole game with his calls/analysis. Sheesh.
What the hell was that comment about Stanzi not getting help? Are you blind? Stanzi has had all day to throw.
Apparently all you need to do to be a commentator on ESPN is be mediocre at your earlier job.
Hey Ole Miss, I can has your ranking?
tape to reffing school. Fucking pathetic
And they are piping in "Sweet Home Alabama." In Iowa. Which is about 1000 miles away from Alabama.
Flag? Oh my god...
Bill Lynch is going to explode. I hope he throws his gum.
good god Ricky Stanzi....
Hang another one up there, Stanzi!
Wow, Stanzi. He has 10 completions to his own guys, and 5 to Indiana.
Stanzi is quite possibly having the worst day EVER.
BHGP is salivating as we speak.
just lol. Stanzi.
The funny thing is that even with Stanzi trying to throw this game, you get a sense that Iowa is going to win this game. Indiana has not really done that much today - they are just benefiting from 6(!) turnovers by Iowa.
I am loving Iowa's misery right now.
Crazy pick by Auburn for a td. They are up 24-17.
clayburn writhing on the field turf....
terrible audio mix on the piece with the dude from Syracuse....and terrible camera work...actually I'm pretty sure I've shot higher quality video on my cell phone
Denard Robinson on this season 10/21 passing, 2 TD, 4 INT
Stanzi in this game 10/23 passing, 0 TD, 5 INT
If Iowa loses this game, you'll hear that Iowa was overrated and didn't deserve to be here. If Florida were to lose like this, you would hear about how deep the SEC is. Just saying.
also: Iowa wins = almost upset by a terrible IU team. vs. (SEC team du jour) in same situation = finding ways to win.
True. I have watched enough SEC games this year to know that Alabama is the best team by far, and teams like Florida and LSU are a couple of lucky breaks from being 2-3 loss teams.
not to mention equally GODAWFUL officiating.
Except this would have been an early rout if it weren't for the refs. Iowa has not found a way to win yet, they've found refs that give them a helping hand.
Whenever you can have a cut segment about the bad officiating calls in a game you have a big problem.
Boom Stanzi'd on the TD pass! That's the lucky SOB that everyone is used to.
Wow. And Iowa is back in it. Watch them blow out Indiana now.
Apparently the wind was the problem
And Wiscy keeps the shutout going, stopping Purdue on 4th down and goal! They look REALLY good right now, and Purdue looks like they did for all but the last 2 weeks.
but I still giggle every time I hear "McNutt".
Barwis would whip Doyles' ass!
Auburn now leads 31-14.
Completely unrelated, but I would STILL take Stanzi over Jevan Snead. All preseason he was talked up as a top QB, but he has been horrible all year.
And here comes the Indiana team that everyone kind of expected in this game.
It just feels like the lugnuts are coming loose and the wheels are getting ready to fall off at any time for Ind.
[Edit] Wheels are gone!
Still a great game. I would hate to be the unfortunate cop to pull over Bill Lynch for an improper lane change this weekend.
Watch Stanzi throw 4 TDs now on 4 passes. Apparently the Indiana DC lost that page in his playbook that he used in the 3rd quarter. Two broken coverages one two plays.
How the hell did they do that? This may be the H1N1 talking, but it seems like everything Stansi throws is either an interception or a touchdown.
Edit: Stanzi, Stansi. If you complain, I'm going to cough on you.
Stanzi v Scott Mitchell.
31-21. Wow. Then the extra point is fumbled and returned for 2 Auburn points.
apparently they don't want to be outdone by the ugliness of the UI vs IU game.
It must really be the wind. Stanzi throws 4 INTs in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter - Stanzi TD, Chappel underthrows and almost gets picked, Stanzi TD.
Uh, wow, Ole Miss-Auburn. Wow. Is that 3 TDs in like one minute?
My mistake. TD followed by TD followed by a blocked kick turned into a 2 point runback by the other team. Still, yowza.
It must really be windy out there - you do get a sense that throwing into the wind is killing some of these balls.
you can blame the wind on that Chappell int, that was a duck from the release
Did you see it curve in the air on the replay? It made it look like the wind was 30MPH
I meant more that that's not strictly on the wind, as Bob Davie would have you believe. I would argue that the wind exacerbated what was a terribly thrown spiral.
IU needs to find some D, and quick. Hold the Hawks to a FG.
Edit: TD Iowa. Hawks up by 10. It's over.
It was fun while it lasted...
Stick a fork in em.
Bob Davie is such an idiot - he is knocking Iowa for winning games ugly. Here are some scores for the #1 team in America, Florida.
23-13 over UT - and ugly game where both teams played "tough" D and the offenses just crapped the bed.
13-3 over LSU - and that was a really ugly game.
23-20 over Arkansas
29-19 over Miss St. - with Tebow lobbing ducks everywhere.
My point is that a win is a win. Iowa has beaten everyone they faced this year, and the defense has been NC-caliber. I guess I just hate Davie and his mindless chatter.
As much as I hate the double standard as well, UT, LSU, and Arkansas would throttle Michigan, MSU, and Indiana.
I'll give you that LSU is better than any of the three listed teams. But UT and Arkansas are mediocre teams in any conference.
sometimes a team may not play their best, yet still find a way to pull out the win. I thought that coaching at ND would have ingrained this theory in his head.
Tebow and the Gator O has looked average at best.
Well at least when they are not playing the little sisters of the poor.
to Auburn. Play is under review. I haven't seen a game this ugly since I visited my cousin at fat camp, and an impromptu game of strip poker broke out.
you must not get the nc state-fsu game - its like watching a trainwreck in front of a half-full (half-empty) stadium...
anyone have thoughts on the MSU - Minn game tonight? first night game at the new minn stadium...?
going to miss Decker. Hopefully Marqueis Gray can be a factor.
No wonder Iowa is winning. Jesus is in the stands
(Slitting wrist with fake plastic knife and pouring movie blood everywhere.) HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
42-24 Iowa. I know the story will be Stanzi's bad 3rd quarter, but this Iowa defense kept this game close virtually all day. That is a NC-caliber defense.
Nice 4Q Hoosiers.
It has become a easy win for Iowa. WOW!
