Saturday Night Football: ATL vs DET Open Thread
Looked at the board and wondered why this hasn't been posted. So I thought to myself what a damn great time to make my first thread. Honestly though I have no idea about making a thread, and ths one most likely won't end well. As i'm typing this some other young Mgoblogger will beat me to the punch and hit the submit button seconds before me, but to hell with it I'm drinking ice cold beer and might have my first ever thread on the greatest blog alive. Cheers my friends!
What are the thoughts on the game so far? Down 14-3 in the 2nd quarter.
Also Megatron!? Will he pass rice?
LET IT BEGIN!
UPDATE- It's halftime and we are down by a couple scores. What would you like to see the lions counter with this next half?
Calvin Johnson is also 65 yards away from rice, does he break the record tonight?
Who do you to see the Lions take in the up coming draft?

4 yards shy now.

Fans chanting Calvin's name! 5 more yards for the record!

You're 4 and fucking 10...GO FOR IT YOU MORONS
December 22nd, 2012 at 10:58 PM ^
And try to win? That would totally blow their chances of a higher draft spot. See, Schwartz knows what he's doing.

Just dreadful from inside the 10. The QB draw in particular had no possible chance of success.

I agree with this. It would also help if their second option wasn't Tony Scheffler and their third option a guy they picked up a few games ago (Mike Thomas).
Edit: No intended disrespect to your Bronco brethren.

This wasn't meant to go here.
Carry on.
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:02 PM ^
That's the problem right there. You're relying on Steven Peterman.
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:02 PM ^
I'm really looking forward to watching another once in a generation talent waste away with the Lions. Five bucks says he retires after 9 seasons because the Lions have robbed him of his competitive drive.
Wow, that was emo.

Margin's always pretty thin when you have no defense
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:15 PM ^
There it is.
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:16 PM ^
There is the record. The only thing Lions fans can cheer about. Maybe Mega will send the ball up to WC Ford's crypt.
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:21 PM ^
Megatron! I think he also broke the Madden Curse.
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:22 PM ^
Please sell the team to competent ownership WC Ford Jr.

Dave Molk was correct: Peter Konz is weak as hell... 18 reps combine...gets overpowered at the point of attack by Suh.

ROFL...that free kick return was the icing on the cake.
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:29 PM ^
That has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen

Well... At least Calvin got me 47 pts in my PPR league championship game. Sadly, I'm playing against Ryan, who scored 56. -sigh
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:35 PM ^
And now 51.
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:32 PM ^
It has been said already, but I would fire Schwartz after kicking two FGs on 4th-and-short deep in Falcon territory. You are 4-10; grow some balls and try to win the game.

I would have fired him after thanksgiving. To quote the RR years around here "UNACCEPTABLE". Except I'm serious in this case.
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:36 PM ^
What seems to be left out of this calculation again and again is the positive value (for you) of the field position you've put the other team in even if you fail. That last offensive play from Atlanta highlights it.

being 4-10 has no relevance (unless you are trying to lose for the draft choice).
You choose your plays to give yourself the maximum chance of winning. You play to win the game.

December 22nd, 2012 at 11:38 PM ^
If the ball carrier gives himself up the play is over. It was clear he was taking the knee intentionally.
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:35 PM ^
Too bad you can't fire the owner
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:35 PM ^
Oh shut up Gruden. One catch when the game is iced and it's tarnished? Johnson broke the record with in less receptions than Rice and Rice had a HOF QB throwing to him. And it's not meaningless; they can still possibly win this game.
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:37 PM ^
ROFL...they can win this game....LOLLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL...breath...LOLOLOLOLOLOL...
December 22nd, 2012 at 11:36 PM ^
Also, can Gruden stop it with the "meaingless yards" crap? I remember Rice setting that record with lots of receptions after the game was no longer in doubt. He played on some great 49er teams, and that '95 squad and won a couple of games by 20+ points. You don't break records without pouring it on at times, and that includes when you are winning or losing.
