Saturday night drinking/summer memories thread

Submitted by sadeto on
Last night we were asked to revisit the worst jobs of our lives. It was pretty gruesome, a lot of us have suffered for the man. Tonight, let's recall our best summer memories. For me, having grown up on the Connecticut shoreline, it's dragnetting, surfcasting, and of course girls in bikinis. Remembering those great times while downing some Greenport Harbor Hopnami DIPA. You?

so are the children of one's youth.  happy is the man whose quiver is full, for he shall not be afraid, but shall speak with the enemies at the gate.

never did figure out the computer glitch that made that avatar/ID show up for some folks but not for most.

he's already been to Chucky Cheese for one of his birthday parties.

Sorry, but the surprise party for WD is cancelled.  Not sure what I'm going to do now with this Toys "R" Us gift card I had picked up for him.

I just got home after working a full day at the office--although I did get to catch a bit of the Special Olympics basketball games at the Galen Center at lunch--and am relaxing with a glass of Gentlemen's Jack, before going over to my grandmother's house for a family reunion dinner.

This summer was really great for me, probably my favorite. I graduated earlier in the year and I just recently went back to AA. I partied with some of my favorite people, drank pretty much every night I was there and had the best night ever with a female friend. Earlier in the year, I went to the Derby, which was also one of the best trips I'd ever taken.

Navy Pier fireworks are a great memory for me, especially growing up and double especially later in the summer when school is almost back and the temperature is just right once the sun goes down.

The summer between my freshmen and sophomore year in college at BGSU a group of us stayed in town for the summer which turned out to be a blast. Work and then start drinking. Plenty of trips to the lake as well. That was a fun summer.

I managed a nice memory just this last 4th of July actually - myself, the wife and the kids just sitting on a dock at a camp in Harrison, MI...watching the folks with cottages along Long Lake put on an absolutely fantastic fireworks display that lasted well past midnight. This was much to the dismay of the Clare County Sheriff, as you could hear them trying to quell celebrations on the far side of the lake from us. We were drinking too, just quietly.

I was one of the many people providing the show. I was back in the U.S. for two weeks and our friends have a place on Long Lake. My wife and kids are there right now while I work away in Shanghai. It was an awesome show. Last year might have been a little better though!

Currently drinking Snake River Stampede loling to myself about that summer. Moved out after graduating HS, worked at Sullivan Fence in Saginaw making peanuts but getting hammed every night and spending every dime I made on beer, whiskey, weed and chasing girls. Oh to be 18, have basically no responsibility and not give an eff what anybody thinks about it again

my dad was a fireman on the Columbia so those trips also doubled as quality time on tours of the engine room. those boilers were massive and hot as Hades. A secondary memory was all the bars of Lava soap he went through after his shifts.

Had some friends over for a fish fry with a keg of Blue Moon. Bonfire raging and now the bourbon is out. Bluegill, Walleye, and Perch. I'm stuffed. Go Blue!

Graduating UoM one if my roommates and I made 'special' brownies and went to cedar point for a day. Not the best day of my life, but very interesting. After every roller coaster I had to sit down and recover for about ten minutes. They all felt like they were about half an hour long.

I'm drinking whiskey out the bottle, not thinking bout tomorrow. Maybe later I'll try making love to my favorite songs. Or maybe my wife

Summers at a rented cabin on the north side of Higgins Lake with the family were about as good as it gets.  It was a simpler time, and kids were granted quite a bit more autonomy in those days.
