Saturday NFL Open Thread

Percy Harvin just got knocked out of the Seattle - Saints game. Not sure if he'll come back. Who do you guys have winning today? Of course I am going for the Pats later tonight.

So on a more important note, what's going on on NBC? Why has the ice dancing free skate not started yet? I thought it was supposed to come on at 4:25. Michigan/Ann Arbor Huron represent.

Russell Wilson and Drew Brees, only about 100 total yards of offense in the first quarter to date and two FGs, both into the wind. It doesn't get much more Big Ten than this, I would think.

Now I  have to decide who  I hate more. Find myself rooting for Seattle, though, and would like  to see them mop  the  floor  with the Saints.

Unless I miss my guess here, the Saints accidentally ran their third down play on fourth down and the fourth down play on third down. Either way, it didn't seem to work out in the end. Also, good move by New Orleans to hurry the hell up after the Robinson run - I didn't think he was down, but the way this game seems to be going....

I truly love watching Marshawn Lynch run the football. Absolute beast. Runs with power, speed, elusiveness and has great balance. Tough to bring down. If I only didn't wanna see Richard Sherman fail at everything in life, I'd be rooting for Seattle in these playoffs (Lions' fan so I don't know what's it's like to have a team in the playoffs). I seriously cannot stand him. So WHO DAT.

I'm a Hawks fan so take what I have to say with a massive grain of salt but Sherman seems to do it all in good fun. He tweets at opposing receivers before and after games and always has praise for them. If he gets beat you can almost always see him congratulating his opponent. He's mouthy, but he not only backs it up he does it mostly within the rules. He hasn't been called for a single unsportsmanlike conduct in his career and has only been called for one personal foul. That doesn't sound like a guy finding trouble.

Yes, you are half right. He was mouthy all game and towards the end especially. However, after the game he was congratulating the other team and Trent Williams approached him and said he was going to punch him in the face. Sherman didn't back down and got tagged.

playing outdoors in cold weather.  Going to San Diego and now New Orleans has softened him.  He is just not that effective outdoor on the road.

Will  Ferrell, please go away. You're even less funny in those commercials and overexposure doesn't begin to describe it.

Funny story re the early game. I'm in Vegas right now with the wife and were in the Sportsbook having a drink when the Saints scored the late TD to cover the line. Well........I'm guessing the gentlemen next to us who literally started screaming "no,no,no" and banging his head against the bar might've just lost some serious coin on the game.

I've never seen that before.

Am I crazy for thinking a safety is better than opponent's ball at the 1 yard line? Announcers are saying he should have fallen on the ball at the 2...?

This is Michigan

I bet most punters are taught to take the safety in that situation.

2 yards to score 7 if you don't take a safety vs ~ 70 yards to score 9 total if you do take the safety and they score a touchdown with the possibility of also only giving up 5 total points for a field goal or only 2 points if you get a stop.

Seems like an easy decision.
