Saturday Gameday Thread

Submitted by icefins26 on

Good morning all -- it's going to be a nice October day in the great state of Michigan.  I have the coffee on (pumpkin spice) and it's shaping up to be a good one!

What is everyone's plan today?

I'm leaving the house around 10am, but I'm heading in the "wrong" direction. I was given Rangers tickets from the TCU baseball blogger. I can't pass up tickets to a playoff game in a ballpark I've never seen. This will be MLB park #19 in my lifetime quest to visit them all.

I'll be gametracking from the phone, but I've been given explicit instructions not to share the Texas/Nebraska score with the TCU guy (originally from Nebraska). But we will be having a debate on Brian Griese vs Scott Frost. Spoiler alert: Brian Griese was better.

How about Eric Crouch vs... I dunno anybody? That guy's wikipedia page is so sad and funny at the same time.

In 2007, Crouch was expected to battle Michael BishopDamon AllenMike McMahon and Tom Arth for the Argos' starting quarterback position, but eventually faltered because of injury. He began season on the nine-week disabled list.[6][7] After coming off the nine-week disabled list, Crouch was released by the Argos on September 6, 2007

The page used to be a lot more humorous. Apparently he went all Timmy and Tommy Timmons though and started a playground equipment business.

I plan on stocking up on some food, watching the noon games and then watching the Denard train get back on track.

Hopefully I get to say ROFLSpartans after MSU blows the game against Illinois. Can you imagine if that happens and Wisconsin somehow beats OSU? The Big Ten Title race would become muy interesante.

I'm terrified of the Illinois game after what Illinois has done the past 2 weeks. What once was thought as a game Michigan should win now looks like a tough battle. I want MSU to paste them just to make me feel better about Michigan playing them. It's sad, but anything to make me feel like we can win at least 7 games this year.

Regardless of what happens, we can beat Illinois -- hell, we can beat anyone if we play well (obviously).  And it wasn't like MSU killed us so we need them to win again to make our loss look better.  I don't buy that.  If MSU and OSU lose today and we win, we're back in the hunt.

Land at the start of hunting season!! Luckily tho got some good old slow cooker beef and a assortment of beer. Thank god for gameplan or the only thing I'd hear is the sound of shotgun blasts from Hog fans ending it a they get trounced by Auburn.... Come on Big Blue let's get back on track!! Drob for Prez!!

Main-Saline is only mildly busier than any other time. Maybe not to even rush hour level yet. A few Iowa cars out and about. For many obvious reasons, this is no where near as bad as last week's apocalyptic levels, where it was already a traffic jam by this time (and a disaster by game time). So if you were planning on showing extra early because of last week, you can probably go back to your regularly scheduled travel times. This week looks more normal.

<br>As for me, since Gameday will probably have nothing nice to say about us, I think I'm going back to bed till the noon games kickoff and then get ready to head over to the Stadium. Should be a beautiful day for football, weather-wise.

I am going back to the way things were two weeks ago. Last week was a disaster as I thought I would watch the game with a couple hunderd plus Michigan fans at the bar. This week is back to normal in front of the TV just me, my wife and these terrible screaming kids I have. If we win and I am pretty confident we will that will be the strategy for the rest of the season.

We have to dog sit this weekend for a friend, so we'll be staying home with the 1-year-old wild man Golden Retriever today. At least they put his Michigan bandana on before they left. I've got my mini-keg of Bell's Best Brown chilling in the fridge along with two 6-packs of Short's brews that I've never tried. Short's 'Bloody Beer' to start, followed by their new Black Cherry Porter... mouth is watering as I type.

As far as the game is concerned, I can't help but feel the Iowa players will be distracted by the smell of the corn harvest in the air. And while the thoughts of driving the John Deere combine dances in their head, Denard will be unleashing the "dreaded" holy hellfire-dilithium Batman!!! offensive attack we know and love. Go Blue!

Getting stuff for the tailgate packed. It's burgers, sweet potato fries, grilled portabello, baked beans with all the fixins.

And beer, lots and lots and lots of beer (to numb the senses -- I do not have a good feeling about this game).

Hope to be surprised.

Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time before the game starts.

Lets Go Blue

I liked that at the top of the show, like 30 seconds in, Fowler mentions that Desmonds Super Bowl MVP with the Packers negates only some of the MICH hate the Wisco fans have of him

Tim Jernigan was the kid who is scared to death of flying right? Hope he made it in on a nice smooth flight...I know it is crazy the things I worry about, but I so desperately want us to land him.

Disagree with Desmond on his point that the NFL commissioners office has enough on it's plate with current NFL player sanctions. The NCAA is the minor league of the NFL. It may not be under the same conditions of the NHL, MLB, NBA minor leagues, but it almost certainly is THE feeder. The NFL is way invested in the college game.

Despite questionable fame and absolutely no connection to Wisconsin, that "celebrity" picker was the best one I've seen.  Everyone tries to be serious and make smart picks (that I am 99% sure the Gameday research people suggest), this guy was hilarious.  He was talking trash and making complete homer picks.

"Let's be honest, if OSU [Oklahoma State in his case, but applies to us] was playing a women's college I'd still pick against them."

Unfortunately I won't be able to watch the game this week as I will be busy getting my drank on for a night out. I hate late kickoffs and the fact that none of my friends care about football...

I hope today that OSU loses, and then wins all their games. That way I can't worry about MSU being Big Ten champs and them losing as much.
