Sandusky Questions
1. I've never been to Penn St. but based on what I have read the last 3 days about how this is such a tight knit community, is there anyway that most people in the community and definitely all of the PSU top brass didn't hear rumors of his behavior?
I mean in 98 you have police officers and a D.A. aware of what is going on and from there it would seem it would just grow then in 2002 all the PSU brass hear of it. Is it possible such explosive news was not passed around barber shops etc.?
2. In light of all the news his 99 firing/resignation falls under a curious light. Does anyone recall the reason given at the time?

If the graduate assistant had reported to Paterno that Paterno's grandson was in the shower with Sandusky would he have handled the matter any differently?
Joe Pa blew it and he needs to go NOW.

That's the question I want asked to Paterno. If this was your son in the shower and someone reported it to their superior, would you be content with that person simply passing it up their chain to their boss and washing their hands of the situation. How any parent can just turn their back to something like this is unthinkable.

As I've said elsewhere, I was on campus in the mid to late 90's. When he retired to work with the charity it was something that was praised universally. Many of the sororities even took up Second Mile as their cause.
The first rumbling I had heard was in the early 2000's and I think the Michael Jackson shakedown was going on at roughl the same time. I, like most, thought that it was only one kid looking to shakedown Sandusky for money.

Why is this guy still walking around? If something like that happened to a family member, he'd have to die. Some things are unforgiveable.
Am I way off base or are there other reasonable people like me out there?
I think it's justifiable.

in this country call 'innocent until proven guilty', maybe you've heard of it. It's what separates our society from third world sh&t holes.
Wheather you like it or not the man is entitled to a trial and judgement by his peers, and no vigilanti justice is not justifyable in any situation.

he's going to trial and should go through the pain and shame. If he weren't charged yet or he is not found guilty, I'd agree with you.

You can argue that Joe did the legally required thing, but how anyone can argue that Joe did the right thing is just beyond my comprehension. These people are even arguing that most college football coaches would have done the same thing.
Do people have such low moral standard that just making a simple phone call to child protective service is not something we can expect out of people who find out about child rape??? SERIOUSLY???
When did college football fans divorce themselves from morality so far that even hiding child rape is considered "right thing"???

I'm shocked they allowed Sandusky off on $100,000 bail. I give him about a 75% chance to commit suicide before he ends up in jail.
Pretty common knowledge that the prison culture commonly has guards turn the other cheek when it comes to inmates assaulting/killing pedophiles. I know I would.

he's known about this for years and has gone no where. He was out of state last week and drove back to be arrainged. They feel he is absolutely not a flight risk.
Suicide? I hope not. He's a potentially good source to know who else is guilty by their silence.

This could be a bit too tin foil hat for some but bear with me:
Mike McQueary was the GA who caught Sandusky in the shower with a young boy in 2002, presumably engaged in anal sex, correct?
McQueary is currently on the PSU football staff as a wide receivers coach.
It has been established that Sandusky has been seen at the PSU football facilities as recently as last week.
Obviously, as a member of staff, McQueary must have seen Sandusky around the facilities many times in the past 9 years since he witnessed this act.
If you have any shred of morality, it would seem very difficult for McQueary to dismiss what he saw Sandusky doing in the shower.
UNLESS, you are McQueary and you were given your position as some kind of "hush money" to pretend you never saw anything. Is it purely coincidence that McQueary was promoted as a full member of the football staff the season (2003) after he witnessed this act?
Furthermore, the police, and presumably members of the PSU administration must have been aware of the prior allegations against Sandusky in 1998.
I am just trying to rationalize how McQueary could interact / share facilities with Sandusky for 9+ years, having established what he had seen.
It seems to me that whatever coverup is going on runs deep throughout the PSU administration.

This is the State College DA that originally was investigating the1998 case. He mysteriously disappeared in 2005. FBI called it an unexplained death earlier this year. Could be more tin foil hat or not.

school, and one of the local papers did a story on his disappearance. His brother had committed suicide by jumping off a bridge into a river a few years before Gricar disappeared, and there were quite a few similarities between Gricar's disappearance and his brother's suicide. They also found Gricar's briefcase and laptop downstream from where his car was parked. I think they pretty much determined it was a suicide, but couldn't make it official without a body.

where you get anal rape from, the documents I have read only use vague language that could be anything from anal rape to scrubbing the kid's back.

The GJ indictment says McQuaery saw him engaged in anal intercourse with a boy he judged to be about ten years old. Itis in the indictment if you read it (he is Victim #2).

Read the grand jury testimony. It's the second victim in the report, the one that the GA (McQueary) witnessed.

really, if you have opinons about this story but haven't read the report, then you should be quiet until you read the report. It'll change how you think.
10 y/o boy, hands against the wall, anal sex. McQueary saw and and did what??? He was a grown man but didn't stop this - instead he ran to his daddy for help. That is the opinion of one of the victim's mom in her press confernce today. Her son was abused after this incident in the shower. If McQueary would've acted like a moral adult, he son would not have been abused. Period.

He's a class act and his tenure and legacy will always be linked to this guy who took advantage of his coaching position. If Paterno resigns because of this right after becoming the winningest coach ever it'll really bum me out.

I find it hard to have any sympathy for Paterno.
While any talk of a cover up on Paterno's part is pure conjecture at this point, at the very least, Paterno is guilty of turning a blind eye on a child predator.
Paterno implicitly enabled Sandusky's abuse. Paterno - the man who built PSU from the ground up - allowed Sandusky access to PSU football facilities, thereby validating any programs Sandusky ran out of those facilities.
Talk of Paterno doing his part and sending information up the chain of command also does not hold water. Paterno was the embodiment of PSU football, the chain of command ends with him, regardless of individuals' titles.
I can guarantee you that if Bo heard about something like this, there would be no, "I will tell the AD, and my responsibility ends there."

Nancy Grace and start condemning everybody in hindsight, but neither you nor I know what really happened or who knew what. I think the whole thing is terrible from beginning to end, but it's funny to hear outsiders who know nothing try to pass absolute judgement left and right like they know everything. This will start getting sorted out in court, and actually get sorted out on judgement day, but until then I'm just going to feel bad for everyone.

admitted he was told of something sexual in nature going on between Sandusky and a young boy in 2002.
So yeah, he knew there was something up. Did the bare minimum. Moved on towards that 409th win. Saw Sandusky walking around campus and practices with other young boys in tow. Just rolled with it. Great stuff Joe Pa.
