As someone who will always hate ND, and thinks that Teo 100% lied to some extent (What type of dude has a girlfriend he has never hooked up with, met, or even skyped for two seconds?!?!?!), I will continue to welcome Teo jokes.  Especially ones made by his new hometown.

I will continue to find this funny until Lou gets back on the air in the fall and I can laugh at him again.  Also, it was sort of happy news.  Lennay was not dead.  So there's that heartwarming aspect to the story.

This reminds me of the comic the Daily put out about Rick Leach when he was a frosh. Started the season 1-0-2 with two straight ties. It featured a blind man saying he could QB the team better.

It's funny, not because of the message but because of the origin.  It's like your grandma calling you a pale, sweaty message board nerd.

Obviously the humor of this joke wore out a long time ago. I think the real commentary here is that its a real crappy way to may a guy feel welcome on his new team and in his new city. Great work media!

I guess this does prove to some extent that if Manti was hoping for a new start in a new city where he could put all that "fake girlfriend" nonsense behind it aint happening there anytime soon.

That dude needs to take some of the money he's about to get and hire a full time PR person to do nothing but try and help restore what's left of his image as a football player and not some naive, doofus whose very name has become synonomis with being increadibly stupid and gullible.

Amazing what one event can do to a person's reputation.  I'm sure there are a lot of people who use the term "Moellered" to describe somebody insanely drunk who have no idea its origins.  Manti Teo is heading down that road too....and fast!

Feel a bit sorry for Teo in that it looks like he will never live this down...

But to hell with ND.  A bit of schadenfreude with the endless sob stories we had to deal with about the girlfriend generated by the Domer hype machine.

I think we have finally found a major city newspaper that is worse than the freep.  Did the Chargers make them angry, or do they just treat all of the local teams like crap?

My guess is that they are just less thin-skinned than you.

If I was being paid millions to move back to San Diego, the best place I ever lived, I could tolerate some trivial grief from the local paper like this.

The San Diego Union Tribune has and will always suck. They may be the biggest paper in town (and maybe the only one left here), but that doesn't mean that they have stopped trying to lower the bar. If you can think of any contribution they have made to the field of journalism, then you certainly know more about 'em than I do....and I live here.

When I heard that Teo was drafted, I do have to admit that my first thought was that all of my Raider-fan friends were going to start asking me how many imaginary Superbowl trophies Teo would help us win...but then I realized that he *might* be a decent addition to the team. He's a bit slow and got epicly exposed by 'Bama, but I'm hoping he can contribute. More than anything I wanted the Bolts to get Denard because Rivers isn't getting any younger and the Charger QB depth isn't all that great. I also envisioned using him in the backfield with Rivers throwing a little dump off pattern pass to #16 and give Shoelace the option to throw/run from there. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Now the talk around town (amongst the water cooler types, not sports radio or anything approaching official) is brigning in Tebow. Ugh. I guess it's another year where the Raider fans can point out their trophy case and laugh at the empty one in here in San Diego...

I do have to second Grumbler's sentiments though...it is a great place to live.

Doesn't Tuiasasopo live in San Diego? That's pretty ironic. I too welcome any jokes at Notre Dame's expense. But part of me feels sorry for him only because I truly think he is gay and the catfish angle is to cover that up so he can attempt to have a career in the NFL. It's the only thing that makes sense in that whole mess where his stories kept changing. So I want to laugh at him, then I feel bad. But he's a Domer, so I laugh. And so on and so on.

Not really that funny, and given the unseemly side of that whole story probably unnecessary at that point.  Teo will have enough to deal with in San Diego than some second-rate cartoonist trying to beat a dead horse.
