Sam Webb of WTKA says you can wipe your butt...

...with the AR paper that said Big Tex is solid with AR. Sam states on the recruiting roundup that UM is very much in the picture with Big Tex. But I guess if Hankins verbals, it would end the recruitment of Big Tex. Maybe. As for Hankins, seems UM saw his senior tape and liked what they saw and extended the offer to Hankins.

Thanks for the correction. I thought it was referring to something more specific, like "Arkansas Reporter" or "Arkansas Republic" newspaper or something like that.

Which player is more preferrable, Hankins or Big Tex? I thought Big Tex was a little undersized. And doesn't Hankins have a more impressive offer list, which could possibly mean he is more valued?

Hankins is a nose tackle. Beachum is probably a 3-tech DT, but he might be able to bulk up enough to play NT. Beachum is 275 lbs., which isn't too small for a high school DT. I knew a guy who was 260-265 as a senior and went on to play NT for Michigan at about 295 lbs. But considering the fact that Beachum got his offer first, I'd say the coaching staff prefers Big Tex.

...will he be able to endure Barwis and his brutal workouts? Sam mentioned that he was ~330 in his JR year and now is ~305. The last thing you want is a kid who isn't willing to put in the work and ends up getting washed out of the program. UM doesn't need that on the D side of the ball.

I'm not criticizing the kid cause I know nothing about him, he may be wonderful in every way. But losing weight now before he graduates can be a sign that a kid has a hard time doing it until something really critical--like a big time college scholarship--provides enough incentive. Kind of like the NFL guys that "mysteriously" get in great shape and perform great in a contract year.

This kid was told what he had to do and he did it. He was a 16 y/o kid when he was out of shape and responded correctly to what our coaches asked him to do. I like it. I think this shows that he has the right mentality and a lot of determination to become a better player.
