If you would like to put on some maize and blue colored glasses for a moment....

One school that Nauta has been comfortable with is Michigan. Nauta's mother is originally from The Great Lakes State and he has family ties to the staff at U-M. Current defensive line coach Greg Mattison coached Nauta's uncle at Western Michigan and has remained close with the family. That connection, as well as a pair of Harbaugh's, has kept the Maize and Blue in the picture throughout Nauta's recruitment.

"That whole staff is great," Nauta said. "I’ve got nothing but respect for those guys. Jay Harbaugh is young so I can cut up with him but at the same time he takes his job very seriuously.

"Obviously, Jim Harbaugh is a great coach. What he’s done with tight ends – it would be stupid for me to ignore that school. They’ve definitely been one of my top schools for a while now."

There is a video I saw, where Hill takes off running, that is just amazing. It almost seemed as if the replay was at a faster than normal speed, and/or the aspect ratio was off.  That dude can fly, its shocking.

it would be very nice to have Mathis.  Harbaugh needs lots of top level TEs.  If Mathis comes to M, he will develop and have a very good chance at making an NFL roster.

And while Nauta appears dead set on making the huge mistake of NOT choosing the best offense in all of college football for TEs...

...OSU is taking 3 (?! WTF !?) highly rated TEs this year. All are in the top 11 TE (per 247), and all are 4 star guys from Ohio.

That is a very inefficient use of OSU's available scholarships.  OSU does not use tight ends very much.  Two of the three will never see the field.  And the one that does become a starter will only rarely catch a pass.

The world is...irrational.

But hey, when Mathis catches a TD (or three) against OSU in 2018, while two top 11 TEs ride the pine for the Buckeyes, I will not be complainting at all.

I am not sure that TEs are as easily convertable to DE as certain receivers are easily convertable to safety or CB (especially when some of M's receiver recruits have already played on defense in HS).

Plus, is OSU short on DE recruits?  Doubt it.  May not even be room on the depth chart for two TEs to try to convert to DE.  And most TEs really don't have the right frame, etc., to convert to LB.

I would guess it it more of a case of Ohio HS players just automatically wanting to play to OSU, plus Ohio just happening to have 3 of the top 11 TEs this year.

He also followed guys like pie young, levi onwuzurike, josh uche, dylan moses, dylan crawford, cj avery, dylan mcaffrey, and jaylen kelly-powell. I mean there is something you can read into there but there is also a bunch of other guys he followed from the game he just played in and that are also top guys for 2017. so there may be some fire where there is smoke but lets not jump to conclusions
