Sam Webb says Erik Campbell will be part of recruiting staff
Sam Webb said on Twitter that Erik Campbell will be joining the recruiting staff, primarily focusing on recruiting within the state of Michigan. This should essentially replace Chris Singletary, although Campbell was already on staff in some nebulous manner. I had read that Singletary's job would be covered by Gwen Bush, but I doubt she's capable of doing everything that Singletary was responsible for.
Anyway, I think this is a great move. Campbell played at Michigan and coached here for a long time. I think he'll probably be on the coaching staff sooner or later, but in the meantime, he seems like a guy who should connect well with coaches and players in the state.
Soup's on!
The main news here is that Chris Partridge (Pepper's and Rashan Gary's old coach) is now head of recruiting operations. From my understanding of things, he is the one that will directly replace Singletary. Soup is just moving into an official recruiting role and will primarily focus on recruiting the state of Michigan.
And goal #1 as head of recruiting operations will be getting his former player and top overall recruit Rashan Gary to sign with Michigan. No pressure Chris.
Also noteworthy, Hackett is trying to hire Singletary in an administrative role within the Athletic Department, and Singletary is weighing this and an NFL gig.
This should speak on the rumors that Singletary is badmouthing the program/Harbaugh...probably not if he is interviewing and being considered by Hackett for a department job.
Believe only half of what you see and none of what you hear.
Hmmm...correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you think there may be something to the rumors.
If that is the case, then that would not be a bright move by Singletary. Putting out rumors that undermine the program/Harbaugh could make any future employer give pause.
So, IF he's unhappy then he should just move on and leave the whispering and rumors behind.

If Jedd Fisch decided to take a bigger job else where I think Soup will be the WR coach if Fisch leaves.
I believe he only has a one year contract.
But aren't most assistant coaches on a one year contract? Or at least most non-coordinators?
Times have changed. Coordinators are even getting 3 year deals.
His contract is the lowest on staff and is also 1 year. Given his sporadic history, it was reasonable to assume this was a stopgap job to bounce back to the NFL with a Harbaugh recommendation.

I don't have a lot of basis, but judging by the quotes on twitter and other places, it seems like Fisch had a hand in getting Rudock here.
If he ends up being the started and is somewhat competent, which we all expect he will be, Fisch here for one year would have been fruitful.
that this was a step down from his last NFL job and Harbaugh hired two qualified WR coaches that look like possible successors. I don't think anyone knows if he's just here for one season, but he looks to be the most likely member of the staff to move on soon.
At the least, he'll be due a substantial raise next year when Jacksonville stops paying him.
it as a one year deal so he can go back to the NFL. I don't think that is correct.
IIRC, Fisch has never spent more than two seasons at any one job. He's a nomad. I'm not saying he'll be gone next year, but I don't expect him to stay very long. Two or three years, max.
Not that I don't want Soup coaching again, glad he is home, but I hope Fisch sticks around.

It's not anti-woman, but she does not have experience playing or coaching football, nor does she have experience evaluating football recruits. That was part of Singletary's job.
Stole all of this from wikipedia: He was the team's assistant head coach from 2003 to 2007. He set an NCAA record by coaching a 1,000-yard receiver for eight consecutive years from 1998 to 2005. During his tenure at Michigan, he coached receivers Braylon Edwards, David Terrell, Marquise Walker, Amani Toomer, Mercury Hayes, Tai Streets, Marcus Knight, Jason Avant, Mario Manningham, Adrian Arrington, Steve Breaston, and Ronald Bellamy. He also coached Charles Woodson as a punt returner, and Steve Breaston set a Big Ten record with 1,599 career punt return yards (12.6 yards per return) with Campbell as his position coach.
So... that's impressive.
Here is a puppy playing with ice.

Goldens are great. Be careful with food; that golden goodness masks a voracious appetite.

It seems like it is hard to forget, but sometimes I find myself being reminded - especially when you hear about a great guy like Erik Campbell coming back to the program to serve with Harbaugh in Ann Arbor. When I look at this past December versus now, it definitely seems surreal, the amount of change and the apparent trajectory of the program.
