Sam Webb: Michigan Targeting a Committed B1G QB
In the most recent MGoVideo, Sam Webb reported that Michigan is looking for another quarterback for this class and is targeting a quarterback who is already commited to another B1G school. He said the player "doesn't want his name out there yet, but Michigan is all over him, and the player is certainly reciprocating the interest."
I figured since it has been a slow day so far on the blog, we could speculate on which quarterback Harbaugh and company are going after. One of the higher rated QB's committed to a B1G school is OSU commit, Torrance Gibson. Any chance he is the mystery player?
Discussion time!

Gibson is already very open about visiting other schools so it is definitely not him. It's probably a lower ranked QB that probably doesn't want to risk losing a spot at the school he currently is at until he has a better idea on if Michigan's interest is serious and if he likes it there.

You never k ow that if you were going to talk to Michigan would you want the OSU fan base to know?

With all due respect if the kid wants to be an NFL QB he should play for Harbaugh. OSU hasn't had a good NFL QB since... I can't remember. Michigan is going back to NFL QB U.

I guess some kids just want to settle for National Championships.
January 18th, 2015 at 11:33 AM ^
don't pay the bills.
January 18th, 2015 at 11:40 AM ^
Ehhhh...that depends. It might have paid some bills for Cam Newton, Reggie Bush, etc.
January 18th, 2015 at 12:44 PM ^
...and also it doesn't mean you're a shoe in for the NFL either...especially in the early rounds. Riding coat tails is what it's called.
January 17th, 2015 at 2:47 PM ^
It's one of the higher rated guys whatever that means.
January 17th, 2015 at 2:57 PM ^
by rivals standards. Which would leave me to believe its one of those two.
January 17th, 2015 at 2:59 PM ^
I think its Burrow. Fits haraughs mold and the QB situation at OSU is settled for the next three years.
January 17th, 2015 at 3:01 PM ^
FWIW, Rivals just started listing Joe Burrow as having a Michigan offer.

Athens is down the road from me and they played one of their playoff games at our high school. I would be very happy of he is the mystery QB. The kid is very impressive.

Double Post.

Is Athens down the road from you?

Burrow was not exactly impressed with OSU hiring Beck as Beck did not recruit him at Nebraska so I would not be surprised at all if Burrow showed a lot of interest in Michigan. I know that I am not the only OSU fan who would be more upset about losing Burrow than Gibson. Burrow can flat out play and fits the mold of Harbaugh's QBs at Stanford.
January 17th, 2015 at 3:21 PM ^
I was also thinking Burrow. Upvote for you

in 2014, 4,000 yards passing, Mr. Football in Ohio, 57 TDs, 1 INT, 6'4" and 200 lbs. Man, if he is the guy Harbaugh is going after, that would be awesome.
January 17th, 2015 at 3:02 PM ^
I could see why those two would not want it out that they're looking at Michigan. I'm going with Lewerke or Gibson as the mystery guy.
January 17th, 2015 at 3:56 PM ^
rather than Rivals. Burrow is a 4* with them.
January 17th, 2015 at 2:55 PM ^
Well there is a difference between looking around and looking at Michigan. I could see why he would not want the latter out there despite the former being known.

Weber from Christ sakes... unless Chris has some eligibility left?!?

I hope its States commit, that would be classic. Isnt Lewerke descent?
I sure would like to see us get Stallworth!

Mork's heartbeat may well be out of sync for a second.
January 17th, 2015 at 2:50 PM ^
Could be Gibson. He could start right away at Michigan where he'd have to wait 2-3 years to even have a chance to play at Ohio.
January 17th, 2015 at 6:30 PM ^
I doubt it'd take that long for the guys ahead of him to have season ending injuries.

I want us to have a dual-threat QB on the roster.
January 17th, 2015 at 3:47 PM ^
I am going with Demry Croft from MN. His stock apparently has been rising and he is very gettable
January 17th, 2015 at 3:54 PM ^
Thanks for the list. Although, If Jim Harbaugh wants a kid as his QB, i couldnt care less what the rating services opinion of him would be
January 17th, 2015 at 2:54 PM ^
Harbaugh has a great track record, but Urban's (very convincing) pitch at this point is basically "I make any QB on my roster is good enough to win the national title"
January 17th, 2015 at 2:57 PM ^
We will make sure you will play in the NFL too
January 17th, 2015 at 3:01 PM ^
Urban nearly put Cardale in the NFL after only 3 games.
January 17th, 2015 at 3:07 PM ^
We will make sure you will play well in the NFL too.
There, I fixed it.
January 17th, 2015 at 3:06 PM ^
I agree that their qb development is probably a wash but we have no idea where cardale jones would have been drafted or what his success would have been in the pros. Meyers system does seem to really thrive in college but it remains to be seen if it can translate well
To the league.
