So, logically...
Do people below [35] know what this is?
Nah, I guess that option is already taken.
I'd sooner suspect haruspicy, hence "gut" feeling.
a fair question. I think the answer is because GARY.
Still crazy that if this holds true, Mone/Hurst aren't starters. They would both start on probably any other team in the country with the exception of 2 or 3 teams.
I should think O'Korn or Speight will have a lot of fun.
Steel sharpens steel.
I hope our depth will be solid enough that we can rotate 2 lines, and I think they will be. The elite defensive lines rotate often to keep everyone fresh, and if we can afford to do that I think we will see some great dividends especially towards the end of the game where the offensive line will start to be dragging.
This is kind of the reverse of having maulers on the O-Line against a team with a good but not deep D-Line. Man, I loved those old Michigan games, where by the mid 3rd quarter we'd just start to grind people down on sustained drives. People always hated the "3 yards and a cloud of dust" but honestly, if we are already up by 14 or 17 points, and if we can change that to "4-5 yards and a cloud of dust" it's a pretty damned valid strategy.
I guess the inverse of that is if we have an excellent D-Line that is fresh well into the 3rd/4th quarter, other teams won't be able to deploy that strategy at all. If a team is ahead they won't be able to turtle-up and play it safe without immediately doing a 3-and-out. It'll keep us in games alot longer even if we are down in the 3rd/4th quarter.
Even with an OK offense (new QB and an OK but not dominant line), with this defense we should have plenty of opportunities to put up a few touchdowns per game to get the job done.
Giddyup.
I find your thinking that we could possibly be down in the 3d/4th quarter disturbing.
I like it.
I say our tackles for loss leaders should be included in the NCAA ground gainer leader stats.
"IF THEY CROSS THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE I'MA TAKE EVERY LAST ONE OF YA OUT!!!"
...and Hurst and Mone, two guys who could start anywhere in the country will play.
EEEEK!!!
Sam is fishing for reactions from people. Also, it's just an excuse to talk about football.
Not really. And by "not really" I really mean "your assessment is incorrect."
He specifically mentioned on his show this morning that this "gut feeling" was the result of conversations he had with coaches/players at all the satellite camps he attended (which he attended probably 10 so far). He has excellent relationships with essentially the whole coaching staff and current/former players, and therefore has verifiably legit sources.
For those who don't know, whenever Sam mentions a "gut feeling," that means that he has received information first-hand from usually either the individuals themselves or other first-hand sources (i.e. coaches/players/parents/recruits). It's not actually a feeling based off personal observation but instead known facts through legit sources.
Obviously they haven't had fall camp yet, so no this isn't set in stone, but this is up-to-date current information.
THE_KNOWLEDGE....Sam must be in contact with him.
Here's the question that suddenly arises though - how did Sam get a hold of the only Ouija board able to contact THE_KNWOLEDGE while he is currently in another dimension scouting the future of Michigan football?
"reviewing" the future of Michigan football, since it is already known to him.
...YES...
Bran told Sam, thats how
He likely has a Ouji board and a crystal ball in there along with other toools of superstition.
It's the offseason...

Which is exactly what Sam said after this "gut feeling" statement. Hence why they'd sub out "every three plays."
They did this same rotation pretty much last year for the most part until injuries began to rise.
and the QB is simply immediately tackled after the snap.
Gary - Glasgow - Taco
Wormley - Mone - Hurst
Lewis - Thomas - Peppers - Hill - Clark/Stribling
That is a hell of a 2-deep for a DL.
Can you imagine the feeling some poor kid on an opposing o-line will get when--after he gets destroyed by our starting tackle or end--the "2nd string" rotates in & he realizes there is very little if any drop off?
Talk about demoralizing.....

If he is putting his "gut feeling" tm on a roster situation, then he has just spoken to a coach about it. Remember that he's on tour with them. Sam isn't a football coach, but he also isn't exactly giving analysis from the outside.
