Sam Webb - Epic Segments WTKA

Submitted by Black Socks on

M Fans,

If you didn't hear Sam Webb on WTKA this morning you owe it to yourself.  He is very confident and will make you smile.  Start with segment 2 and go on.  Heck, I enjoyed them all.

I couldn't get the podcast to work this morning; hoping for better results this time. Everything I read early today said Sam was top-notch on today's show.

Some of the best lines of the week there:

"Michigan State is the hobo who hit the lottery and all of the sudden thinks they're one of the aristocracy.  Now it's time to treat them like a hobo."

Sam was on fire this morning.

and couldn't turn it off.  Though no doubt the energy level will be sky high the rest of the week, the man was truly inspired this AM.

I LOVE how fired up Sam Webb is.

"We've done our kids a disservice, we have a generation of youngsters that don't get it.  Michigan is on a certain level by birthright, and michigan state is on another"

I dunno man. That segment made me feel uncomfortable. I'm all about beating MSU, but treating them as lesser people might be where I draw the line.

Honestly, I feel a little strange about it too... I know it's all in good fun, but there are people that take it seriously. Webb doing this doesn't bother me whatsoever, it's the fact that there are fans, Michigan and MSU alike, that really think some of these things that weirds me out.

I recall a meeting at the hospital where someone made a anti-Sparty comment and some gal got up and started up with "On the banks of the Red Cedar" and walked out when she finished!

Awkward!

Any banter I have I keep to my pals that give it to me and I keep it light hearted but I don't share it with folks I know are a little sensitive about smack talk.

About the smack talk that Sam is giving up, this is a Michigan-centric radio show so I don't think it's out of line. I'm sure the Sparty stations are the same way towards us.

Thank you, Sam. All these people freaking out that someone mentioned another shutout, or talk of the playoffs, you are being ridiculous. Nothing that is said here or anywhere else will have any effect on the game.

I would say something like "Michigan is playing with house money" but that isn't quite right -- Michigan isn't where it is (i.e., favored in this game) because of luck -- it's where it is because it has worked hard and earned it on the field.

The question isn't whether or not Michigan should win. MSU has not played well enough to have earned that, and if they don't believe that, then they are sure to lose. But I think Dantonio will have them ready, and inside the locker room they understand that they will have to improve to beat Michigan. The real question is, will Michigan shut MSU out?

It's unlikely, because it's really hard to do against anyone, and MSU has a decent offense. But there's nothing wrong with talking about it. Three in a row, two against ranked teams.

It's rare. Enjoy it!

Is there a trick to getting this to work on iPhone? I click on the segment and nothing happens. It's as if the page doesn't load correctly on Apple OS?

does the iStore have Dolphin? I think even Opera and Firefox have it but I use Dolphin when I need to see the real site on mobile. I just used it to listen after Chrome didn't work. Get it (or one), go to options and set client to Desktop. I leave Dolphin on that setting and use it as my non-mobile default browser. I know Chrome has the same option but it doesn't load different drivers like Dolphin. It's still seen by the site request as mobile or partial mobile. Good luck.

I was laughing but it also had me hype as fuuu at 5am lol! He almost has me about to drop my "I really dunno, guys" shtick. People have superstitions and mine is to treat everyone like their amazing in games I'm concerned about (some I'm not). I forget their negatives and only focus on their positives, etc. It's my "winning chair" or "lucky shirt". It failed me a ton last year and I think this year is telling me that what I do doesn't have an impact on the game, you dipshit lol. He has me about to remember just who we are and act like it. Not that I think they'll go anywhere soon (because you have to acknowledge what he's built, like it or not) and become the msu of my entire life sans 8 years but F'em. Time to stop getting punked. I couldn't agree more that so much of what Dantonio did was psychological and belief is a heck of a thing. I'll hold off talking shit until we actually beat them but I'm calling myself out along with others when I say to stop bowing down to those mfrs. Even mentally as a fan! Win or lose, Sam just cured my PTSD. As he said: "They better do it now because their time is up". Every dog has its day and they might have one more hour before Midnight so they better enjoy it if they do. Better savor that flavor because if we win and we start reminding these teens what the natural order is, Starr teaching these kids who's who? OVER. I'm out. Listen if you want to laugh and get hype.

I could happen, our ultimate wildcard is Rudock, and he will be all season. If he struggles, we could go down. If our secondary struggles and we don't get good pressure, we could go down. It's at home, that's good, if we play our game, we'll win going away in the end. We shall see. Go Blue!

versus MSU o-line will also be key.  If the d-line can get consistent pressure, the M defensive backfield will do well.

Conner Cook was very good on several third and long pass plays last Saturday.  He'll do a little of the same this week because he is a three year starter and a good decision maker.  But a key (maybe the key) to the game is holding down MSU 3rd down coversion rate.  And to do that M has to hurry Cook's throws.

He says if you want to talk smack before the game thats fine!  Then you should be ready to hear it (Smack-talk) if you lose after the game. So if you are afraid to talk smack before the game don't come around after the game talking the talk acting like you knew your team would win....

I started listening to the podcasts close to the beginning of the season while at work, and yesterday I could not stop laughing. Sam Webb lit it up yesterday.
