Sam Madden (2015 OT: out at Wisc, would like to hear from Michigan)
If true, this is a pretty damning article from Maize n Brew on Wisconsin's handling of 2015 OT Sam Madden (4-start to 247, 3-star on their composite.)
From his dad: "At the end of the day it boils down to this: The University of Wisconsin made him an offer and said 'if you do this academically, you’re in here. Please commit to us, don’t take any other visits. We did everything we were asked to do. They lied to us and didn’t do what they said they would do.'"
I think Sam Webb tweeted earlier that he had not heard from Michigan, but they clearly would listen if contacted. Sounds rough for him no matter how this turns out, as he'd apparently been planning to enroll early.

How did you get that from what he said?
Athletes have the same academic standards at either school. A non-athlete is going to have a more difficult time getting into Michigan than Wisconsin.

He was NCAA qualified but didn't get through their admissions. It happens here too. We both require more classes in some subjects than the NCAA minimum. So does ND.

Had a great time in your hockey seats. Thanks! But you misread dude's post.

He looks like he's going to take that spot. Not recruited by many big schools but Harbaugh and Drevno must see something. He received his offer today and there are 5 crystal ball predictions for him already.
Kentucky is the next biggest offer. Marrow is the recruiter from Kentucky.
It sounds like he will visit next weekend.

You have to awe at his toughness, would think he'd be Harbaugh's type (Check out the bloody nose post-game)... http://imgix.scout.com/142/1422692.jpg?w=600&h=360&fit=max
Trust in Harbaugh though, whatever happens.

He's a high rated recruit that Harbaugh may want on the offense.

I edited that out of the title... makes it a bit less cumbersome!

It sounds like he would have been told this by the old staff. It sucks but that is unfortunately what happens.
I see nothing that says he didn't get in because of grades.

r/CFB seems to think he has a learning disablity related to OCD. Something like a 1.6 GPA his freshman year, now I believe as a senior he is right aorund a 3.5. I'm sure grade inflation has something to do with it but still.

Yes, thanks. That contains almost none of the details in that are in the Maize n Brew article & it is no longer on the front page.

I too, would really like to here from MICH.

This kid got straight As his senior year and even that couldn't get him admitted into UW as an athlete? Do we really want him?
His grades must be really bad even for athletic scholarship standards.

Many posters are suggesting that Madden was straight up not admitted to UW. When was that said?

Also, M offered Ohio OL Nolan Ulizio (UCONN commit). 6-6, 280, Two-star. Here are his highlights.

I'm not a high light oline guru. Can someone with more knowledge tell me how he looks? Compared to some other guys we are recruiting.
January 18th, 2015 at 7:52 PM ^
he moves pretty well. looks like a solid prospect though competetion level does not appear great and that can obviously skew highlight tapes. but he looks more athletic than most OT's (other than cole) theyve recruited lately and i think its typically better to recruit leaner OTs in 260-280 range than heavier type kids favored under hoke.
the kid obviously needs work and refinement but i think his body type, athleticism and on-field attitude indicate he could be pretty good. he already has more promise (in my opinion) than at least half the OTs hoke signed particularly in terms of consistently winning 1 vs 1s

The competition was pretty good. His school plays in one of Ohio's bigger divisions. They played Cincinnati Colerain and Huber Heights Wayne, which are two programs that are always producing Power Five players.

One of his earlier offers is from Youngstown State, probably impressed Mike Zordich who brought him to UM attention. Nice size.
