Sam Madden (2015 OT: out at Wisc, would like to hear from Michigan)

Submitted by GoBlue on

If true, this is a pretty damning article from Maize n Brew on Wisconsin's handling of 2015 OT Sam Madden (4-start to 247, 3-star on their composite.)

From his dad: "At the end of the day it boils down to this: The University of Wisconsin made him an offer and said 'if you do this academically, you’re in here. Please commit to us, don’t take any other visits. We did everything we were asked to do. They lied to us and didn’t do what they said they would do.'"

I think Sam Webb tweeted earlier that he had not heard from Michigan, but they clearly would listen if contacted.  Sounds rough for him no matter how this turns out, as he'd apparently been planning to enroll early.

He looks like he's going to take that spot. Not recruited by many big schools but Harbaugh and Drevno must see something. He received his offer today and there are 5 crystal ball predictions for him already.

Kentucky is the next biggest offer. Marrow is the recruiter from Kentucky.

It sounds like he will visit next weekend.

You have to awe at his toughness, would think he'd be Harbaugh's type (Check out the bloody nose post-game)... http://imgix.scout.com/142/1422692.jpg?w=600&h=360&fit=max

" He played his sophomore season with a broken foot, which speaks to his toughness....Madden’s strength is aggressiveness, meaning he’s not going to shy away from any fights in the trenches during Big Ten play. A cousin to former UW offensive guard John Moffitt,"

Trust in Harbaugh though, whatever happens.

This kid got straight As his senior year and even that couldn't get him admitted into UW as an athlete? Do we really want him?

His grades must be really bad even for athletic scholarship standards.

he moves pretty well.  looks like a solid prospect though competetion level does not appear great and that can obviously skew highlight tapes.  but he looks more athletic than most OT's (other than cole) theyve recruited lately and i think its typically better to recruit leaner OTs in 260-280 range than heavier type kids favored under hoke.

the kid obviously needs work and refinement but i think his body type, athleticism and on-field attitude indicate he could be pretty good.  he already has more promise (in my opinion) than at least half the OTs hoke signed particularly in terms of consistently winning 1 vs 1s

He has a quick first step which he combines with a solid punch. He gets to the second level quickly, rolls hips well on contact, great GREAT hand placement, runs his feet. Mostly he looks very agile and coordinated for a guy his size, has a good "bubble", and has fluid hips. Looks like a good find to me!
