Sagarin Ratings
Michigan is up to #11 in the updated Sagarin ratings. It is so early in the season as to be laughingly meaningless, but still fun to see.

We should no longer fear ND, or Wisky and PSU for that matter. A computer told me so.

involved with the rankings; right now I'm doing coach speak in my own head, 'just one game at a time'...

We have higher numbers than them.
Which higher numbers?
Some of them.
But which numbers matter the most?
It's too early to tell.
So why does it matter that our numbers are higher?
Because COMPUTER! That's why.

I have a computer model too...
int i = 2;
FOREACH (team in teams)
{
IF (team.school != "MICHIGAN")
{
team.ranking = i;
i++;
}
ELSE
{
team.ranking = 1;
}
}
I think it's a pretty good model.
Also, can you tell it's the first day of class?

24000 posts in 1 year? i find that level of dedication awe-inspiring.
i couldn't figure out why my total kept going down over the weekend, i didn't think i got drunk and didn't anything neg-bang worthy. i finally realized that i was losing posts from a year ago.
....making your total all the more impressive.

You keep all the points you get from up-votes.

And when you go to the arcade pick out one game that you can do, alright, one game that you can do. Instead of a whole bunch that you don't know what the hell you're doin.

[Dave and Frank are inside the pod while Sagarin looks on. The sound to Sagarin has been cut]
Dr. Frank Poole: Well, whaddya think?
Dave Bowman: I'm not sure, what do you think?
Dr. Frank Poole: I've got a bad feeling about him.
Dave Bowman: You do?
Dr. Frank Poole: Yeah, definitely. Don't you?
Dave Bowman: [sighs] I don't know; I think so. You know of course though he's right about the Sagarin having a perfect operational record for the first week. They do. It's after that when they fall apart.
Dr. Frank Poole: Unfortunately that sounds a little like famous last words.
Dave Bowman: Yeah? Still it was his idea to carry out the faiure mode analysis experiment with Notre Dame. Should certainly indicate his integrity and self-confidence. If he were wrong it would be the surest way of proving it. His rating is at least better than Lou Holtz.
Dr. Frank Poole: It would be if he knew he was wrong. Look Dave I can't put my finger on it but I sense something strange about him.
Dave Bowman: [sigh] You mean Lou or Sagarin... Still I can't think of a good reason not to put back the number one unit and carry on with the failure mode analysis.
Dr. Frank Poole: No - no I agree about that.
Dave Bowman: Well let's get on with it.
Dr. Frank Poole: Okay. Well look Dave. Let's say we put the unit back and it doesn't fail uh? That would pretty well wrap it up as far as Sagarin was concerned wouldn't it?
Dave Bowman: Well, we'd be in very serious trouble. We would not have a computer poll to complain about.
Dr. Frank Poole: We wouldn't, would we. What the hell could we do?
Dave Bowman: [sigh] Well we wouldn't have too many alternatives. Should we contact Brian Cook on this?
Dr. Frank Poole: I don't think we'd have any other alternatives. There isn't a single aspect of operations that isn't under his control. If Sagarin were proven to be malfunctioning I wouldn't see how we'd have any choice but disconnection.
Dave Bowman: I'm afraid I agree with you. Call Brian now.
