The sad life turn of Boubacar Cissoko
Profile in the Detroit News today on Cissoko, what a shame. By all accounts a good kid who had something really change when he got to campus.

I really hoped that after the first "dismissal" he would get things right and work his way back on the team. I really hope they don't go too hard on him and he learns from this. God knows it took me dozens of chances before I got it right and if I can get it right, anyone can. Goodd luck to him.
I remember seeing him his freshman year and thinking we had a three year lockdown corner developing. My heart goes out to Boubacar and his family, but it sounds like he has the support structure in place to put this behind him and move on afterward if he wants to.
It makes you really appreciate just how mentally strong these kids have to be when dealing with the immense pressure of big time college sports.

If he's actually two years older than his reported age, that might explain part of the hype around him as a player. As a HS junior and senior, if he was hitting his physical peak during a time when most of the guys he was covering were still trying to adjust to their emergence from adolescence and puberty, that would certainly be an advantage.
I saw both Jerry Stackhouse and Schea Cotton when they were 14 years old. Both of them had the physical tools to play against college kids at that age. The difference was that Stackhouse continued to develop physically...and Cotton was pretty close to hitting his peak. He never really got a whole lot better and eventually, everyone else caught up. (The flipside of that is someone like David Robinson who peaked VERY late and was totally unheard of as a high school senior.)
If Cissoko was actually 20 years old when he was going up against kids in high school, then yeah...he was going to look AWESOME at one level and he was going to get completely exposed at the next. That might have been a very rude psychic shock to his system.
Total speculation of course...
Hopefully he doesn't face too much of a punishment for this behavior and he can move on with his life
Had the world at his fingertips and threw it away for what? If his family doesn't know we won't either.
I don't know anything about Clarett's path before OSU, but his path after and Boo-Boo's after Michigan are too similar.
Considerable success was the expectation. But, after the two blunders against Notre Dame, he was chastised by fans like few players at Michigan. Boubacar simply became "Boo-boo."
I thought we called him that before he was getting burned on the field...not because people were "booing" him.
I was saying Boo-urns.
