Saban offers grayshirt to Bama commit 5 days before NSD.

Looks like Saban is almost as shady as Harbaugh. /S

Shall we sit back and wait for the media onslaught, decrying Nicky's recruiting practices? http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2016/01/oneonta_linebacker_riley_col… **EDIT: comments noted as not liking my attempt at mocking the mockers with my previous title and what I thought was obvious sarcasm

We have for years decried it. I think Brian counts as media, especially since he probably gets more views than half of the reporters you are alluding to

There is certainly a spectrum of Deal Size, not just Big Deal and No Big Deal, and this falls along that spectrum. I think you'd have to agree though:

No Big Deal ---- pulling scholarship 3 weeks before NSD ---- pulling scholarship 3 days before NSD --- Big Deal

I agree that there are ranges along the spectrum but do you seriously think that three weeks is sufficient time to pull a scholarship?  I'm not referring to any specific situation.....just a generalization.  I think that three months might be sufficient, three weeks is not.  I don't know that a recruit can fully vet enough potentially viable schools in that short period of time.

Remember that these kids should actually be in school.  They don't have any traditional breaks in the last three weeks (no Spring Break, no Summer Break, no Christmas break.....).  Can they seriously visit Michigan, Alabama and Stanford in three weeks?  With very little prior notice?

Clearly three days is not a sufficient amount of time.....but I don't think that three weeks (in the dead of winter) is much better.  The more that this is discussed, the more I think that an early signing period makes sense.  If both sides aren't on board at that time, then all bets are off until NSD.

Michigan pulling a kid's offer is only done through a well-defined process, that is merit-based and completely transparent, even when the kids say they hadn't hear from the staff in months. So that is "No Big Deal".

Saban pulling on offer is part of a diabolical agenda aimed at reducing a recruit's life to a commodity that can be discarded on a whim, and doing it in a way that will destroy the kid's chances of future success. So that is a "Big Deal".

Timing of pulled offers is just a pesky nuisance and in no way impacts the above conclusions.

Are you a rival troll. Harbaugh, Partridge, and the administration have been quite clear that they run a meritocracy and are transparent with recruits about the work required on the field and in the classroom. Saban is shady. We already knew that.

This title is the double whammy in shittiness.

I predict "pulls a Harbaugh" will join the likes of "oakland is still in play" and "Harbaugh hates recruiting" as oft repeated annoying posts that were never clever but become grating.

The "/s" is dinggleberry on top of the turd sunday.

He's a decent inside linebacker prospect, but he's not as athletic as I would expect from an Alabama OLB. This probably means that Alabama has received some good news about one or two of their other linebacker targets... They just keep reloading.

Ten months ago I told him, "Here's my prediction. Alabama is goint to win the National Championship next year. The following year, they're going to lose to Michigan in the National Championship game."

Half way there.

Harbaugh by design make his recruiting a media event as best he can. I'm certain that is part of his camp tour and signing day extravaganza. Because of this I think it is quite fair to also have media criticize his recruiting more than they might most other coaches or programs. We can't have it both ways. But I'm OK with this and I'm pretty sure Harbaugh is also. He's doing his thing well and will continue. I don't see a purpose in whining about it. I like the card we've been dealt.

Please don't use any form of the verb "Harbaugh" for this kind of crap.

Do we really want this to catch on and become a phrase down the line?
