S Demar Dorsey Visiting??
This "OMG Shirtless" recruit is mentioned as a visitor in a thread topic on the Scout premium board. I don't know when he's supposed to be visiting, but from everything I can find on the web, he is not very firmly committed to Florida. I suppose Matt Elam's recent commit to FL may have Dorsey looking around?
Here are his details:

Position: S
Year: Class of 2010
High School: Boyd H. Anderson HS (Lauderdale Lakes, FL)

Pos Rank: Rivals #18, Scout #26, and ESPN #2
Found on the web:
He was supposed to visit Tenn before the Kiffin defection is now looking elsewhere, maybe FSU. Gatorsports Blog
Offers:

Florida State
Tennessee
North Carolina
Rutgers
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Miami (FL)
Looks like he could be a great visitor. It appears the staff has identified a weakness in our safety depth. It's nice to see that they noticed.
Go Blue!!

This guy would be a great addition to the "Dreadlock Mafia". Get him up for a visit, he will feel right at home.
January 15th, 2010 at 9:45 AM ^
What if there was an all dreadlock team... which Michigan men would be on that?
a quick google search provided this list of top 50 dreads in NFL (2008)

Has Bob Sanders #1 and Stephen Jackson #2

Dorsey is DRob's cousin per TomVh:

So either a recruiting connection or a free trip to see some family?
January 16th, 2010 at 1:31 PM ^
Either way it's good to get him on campus and hopefully he enjoys the game tomorrow. Plus Denard has to be recruiting him as hard as anyone.

"It appears the staff has identified a weakness in our safety depth."
That's the understatement of the year.
It doesn't take Knute Rockne to identify this as a weakness...

I was unaware he was labeled "the most-renowned coach."
His biography at the College Football Hall of Fame (South Bend, IN) calls him "American football's most-renowned coach." He was a native Norwegian, and was trained as a chemist at Notre Dame. He is credited with popularizing the use of the forward pass.

take some special recruiting to get this guy jazzed about the frozen tundra right about now. It is a disadvantage to have national signing day in the winter when you are in a cold, cold place. Maybe he watched UM smash IU last night? The fact that he could start as early as this year would be pretty enticing, though. I can't wait 'till this program is back on top of the Big Ten. Recruiting will be SO MUCH EASIER.

After seeing his picture, Dorsey was definitely the guy at the game last night. He was getting a a lot of attention, and appeared to be enjoying himself.
There was also a smokin' hot blonde girl around him towards the beginning. I'm not sure if she came up from Florida with him, or if she was his "taking care of him" for the night.

Lane Kiffin sent her over
January 15th, 2010 at 10:34 AM ^
I sure hope she was a Tri-Delt so he could make the most of his visit...

I give his forty time four fakes out of five. But seriously he would a great get if we could land him. BTW, magnificent dreads.
January 15th, 2010 at 9:58 AM ^
I read somewhere that he might have been the fastest player at the Under Armor Game.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:17 AM ^
that 40 time is pretty damn close to his actual speed, it might actually be a true 40 time (a la josh furman)
January 15th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
...and was clocked at anywhere between 10.53 and 11.09 in the 100m as a junior, so I would say the forty time listed is definitely possible. Link:

Dorsey is supposed to be visiting this weekend, apparently him and Gardner became friends at UAAB, and he was impressed with all the recognition Gardner got from the Michigan fans. It would be awesome if we could land Dorsey, he is a true center fielder at safety and it could allow us to bring a lot of blitzes and play closer to the line with another safety.
I hear he is related to someone on the Michigan team, maybe Tom would know.
January 15th, 2010 at 9:48 AM ^
do you recall how Dorsey looked at the UAAB?
January 15th, 2010 at 9:54 AM ^
I didn't see the game, but from what I have read he impressed. A lot of people were questioning whether he was just an athlete, or if he had a true position, and those questions were answered as he apparently looked good in practice at safety.

Dorsey is #7 in black
January 15th, 2010 at 11:10 AM ^
I'll refrain from the obvious joke re: PR... but dude, that hit on Dyer was nuts.
January 15th, 2010 at 11:43 AM ^
Starting at 3:52 for anyone wondering (definitely a sweet hit)
January 15th, 2010 at 12:01 PM ^
It would be 100% perfect if while he was doing it he yelled out some sort of pro-wrestleresque catchphrase.
"Dorsey SUUUUUUUUUUUPLLLLLLLLEX!
January 15th, 2010 at 1:24 PM ^
To take on a guy running downhill like that, shows the kid is not afraid to mix it up.... I like him already.... We need speedy guys with attitudes..... Oh yeah, and dreads too....
January 16th, 2010 at 9:17 AM ^
Is this his last visit?
January 15th, 2010 at 9:56 AM ^
to our very own Denard Robinson.
January 15th, 2010 at 9:50 AM ^
is the staff going to go for? damn. Is that 4? Vinopal, Johnson, Parker, and then Dorsey
January 15th, 2010 at 9:54 AM ^
I thought, with some of those guys, there was the option of moving them to CB if the need arises, or at least to try them out there as well. I might be remembering wrong.
January 15th, 2010 at 9:56 AM ^
You forgot about Marvin Robinson and Rashad Knight.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:02 AM ^
I believe the plan is to convert them to LB.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:07 AM ^
I don't think Rashad Knight has the size to be a LB and I'm pretty sure that I read that Marvin said he is being brought in as a free safety.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:15 AM ^
Well, I got your sarcasm, aaaa.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:39 AM ^
I didn't detect it...I'm pretty sure Robinson has about a 50/50 shot at being LB/safety.
January 15th, 2010 at 12:11 PM ^
I didn't sense any sarcasm either. Mouton, Stevie Brown, Mike Jones, and Brandon Smith were all safety prospects coming out of hs that we eventually switched to LB.
January 15th, 2010 at 2:14 PM ^
Rich Rod recruited absolutely none of those guys, save MAYBE Brandon Smith (but not likely). Rich Rod HAS been recruiting Marvin though and has specifically said he's recruiting him for free safety.
January 15th, 2010 at 2:24 PM ^
RR didn't recruit Mike Jones?
January 15th, 2010 at 5:25 PM ^
I was just making the point that converting safeties to LB is not such a crazy unheard of concept.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:35 AM ^
Slot receivers. We're going to field an entire formation of Ninjas. Instead of Wildcat, teams will have to defense against the Ninja Offense. May even experiment with the Ninja Defense too.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:16 AM ^
get 1 of the 3 dorsey, parker, or knight. I would like parker and dorsey the most. Parker at SS and Dorsey at FS, redshirt Marvin and let him play linebacker next year at either Spinner or OLB
January 15th, 2010 at 9:58 AM ^
You can NEVER have too much of a good thing.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:21 AM ^
As many as they can get.
January 15th, 2010 at 11:30 AM ^
technically furman is listed as a Safety by Scout! 7 Safeties? yes please!
January 15th, 2010 at 12:19 PM ^
How many safeties do we need for depth? That is just about four deep at FS and SS.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:00 AM ^
Mystery OL recruit and Demar Dorsey are confirmed as visitors apparently.
January 15th, 2010 at 12:21 PM ^
Crisp?
Woops, guess I missed the post about him not being interested?
January 15th, 2010 at 11:45 AM ^
Don't think the OL recruit is coming in this weekend.
January 15th, 2010 at 11:56 AM ^
Yes, your right my apologies. I think he may have cancelled his visit?
January 15th, 2010 at 12:01 PM ^
Or rescheduled it.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:17 AM ^
who this mystery OL recruit is. I wonder if he doesn't decide for Michigan if we'll find out anyway.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:39 AM ^
I'll tell you, either way, after it's over.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:47 AM ^
The mystery should be over.
"Right this way, Mr. Henderson. These are your floor seats for the Michigan - UConn game."
January 15th, 2010 at 12:00 PM ^
Why the secrecy?
