It has officially begun.
It has officially begun.
is underestimating the amount of TFLs this season.
Well, he's not wrong.
No, Walter, you're not wrong
Watchu talkin' 'bout Willis?
2nd to only the Idaho Vandals, or potatoes, or whatever they are
It's just too bad there isn't anything a UM player could say this week without sounding like a total idiot
I say post this everywhere so the offense can see it. It's a jerky comment and I hope it lights some kind of fire under them.
Why? The OL will just let the papers get behind them and tackle the RB's in the locker room
Damn that's funny. And sad. But mostly funny.
Yeah! That shazier is just being a big old meanie!
1999, 2000 (in ohio), 2003, 2011... also a couple close games in there.
This will not be one of them
"given up a thousand tackles for loss this season." It's fewer than 200.
At least, I hope so...
"Fewer" than 200. Great. Second worst in all of FBS. Behind Idaho. I think some hyperbole on his part is acceptable given the sad reality of the situation.
At least, I hope so...
even if its true?
Well he's probably been watching the film. I don't really think this is meant to "fan the flames" of war, he's just noted that we are having problems with our line, and said it in a way nicer than many of us would say it.
If there are more negative plays or points for the Michigan O.
Now there's a solid prop bet. We're averaging 9.2 a game for the season, and 11.7 for the last 4 games. So call it ten. Does Michigan score more or less than 10 this game?
Meh, can't really argue with what's basically true. That OSU front seven must be licking its chops after watching film on us since the ND game.
We have a putrid, horrific offensive line. Its given up more sacks and TFL than I care to count. What else is there to say?
I think it's entirely possible we could give up 25+ TFLs in the game. Probably about 15 runs and 10 sacks? Would that be enough for a single game record of tackles for loss given?
But you "run a gantlet."
This latter phrase is so widely misused that it is becoming accepted to talk about running a gauntlet.
Thank you Section 1.
Well, Shazier is off by a bit because the actual total is 102. But that is not unexpected since he recorded 20 solo tackles last week and might still be a bit loopy. Don't worry, your guy Peppers has already started providing us with bulletin board material, just like Kalis, Pipkins and a few other guys that hadn't played a snap of college football when they started spewing "there will be blood, etc. etc.".
I bet Ryan Shazier will only have like 18 tackles this Saturday, so TAKE THAT!
...my Taylor Lewan as FB play comes in handy. Shazier can then try to shed a grumpy 302 pounder with a 5 yard running head start.
Al Borges has more hair than Shazier.
That's really all I got...
Our coaches would kick Ohio's coaches asses in a hotdog eating contest. But like in a my dad could kick you dads ass when we were little, kind of way... Or we could go for the "My AD has sold more pizzas than your AD...."
Thanks for these! Adding them to my repertoire.
Your life does not exist.
A fact isa fact is a fact.
Pretty mild as far as trash talk goes. Still probably better to say nothing at all.
True dat as they say in the "all powerful" SEC. The players learn to respect the rivalry eventually...other than Hart of course, and we all know how that turned out for him...
Other than the aforementioned example, it is pretty rare for either of our senior leaders to step out of line and start talking smack. The younger guys gotta learn that at a minimum, talking smack is just bad juju. Bad juju in our case wakes up the gods that brought Biakaba-still-trying-to-forget-him.
Funny how you didn't mention those two.
Why does this come to mind........
Yawn. He needs to learn proper trash talk technique from Terry Glenn or David Boston.
Seems like Fitz picked up where Hart left off...well at least as far as Sparty goes....ooops...forgot about Brandon and the whole sky-writing thing. Didn't turn out the way he planned I guess.
For Buckeye trash-talk he can get a lesson from Desmond or Woodson
tear down UM's banner.
This from a guy that has convicted Felons on his hteam
From a guy who had a future murderer on his team.
So is this person a "future murderer" becuase he actually played for Ohio State, killed someone and was convicted or are you just throwing a little gorilla dust with your argument?
Forgive me: which players on Michigan's team are convicted felons? And, really, you don't want to get into a contest of who has had dumber players over the years. You won't win. We don't have a Maurice Clarett national flameout over here. Granted, our closet's got skeletons (Larry Harrison, for one), but come on now.
Also: Is Kirk Herbstreit a "Fake Buckeye," or is Terrelle Pryor a douche who thinks "everybody murders" and (took) 350 mile test drives in different cars on the reg? I'm curious as to your opinion on that intramural spat.
Don't you have your own blogs? Eleven Warriors is quite good; you should hang out there.
Frank Clark, 2nd Degree home invasion. Punishment? 1 game suspension.
Frank Clark has no felony in his record. So who is the convicted felon?
He has stayed clean for a year, and had his record expunged because his case was diverted into "youthful offender" status. He'll still show up in the NCIC, and always will.
I checked my posts and never questioned who has "dumber athletes" But since you brought it up, I would quote Michael Corleone from the Godfather 2 when he said; "we are all part of the same hypocrisy."
Herbie has a job to do and I have no problem with him trying to be impartial, even though a lot of "Walmart Buckeyes" expect him to be a complete homer. I feel sorry for him with the crap he had to go through in Columbus. As for Pryor, I respect his skill as an athlete but think he is a narcissistic moron. But both are Buckeyes and always will be.
UM does have its skeletons too, as you pointed out.
I do post at 11W under the same name and we do have a couple of handfuls of Wolverines that post regularly there. We understand that all real progress is based on the constructive use of disagreement, especially when football rivalries are thrown in to the mix
That quote was taken wildly out of context. Fitz wasn't trying to continue the "little brother" meme at all, he was explaining why he felt Spartans were so riled up by it. Don't let that interfere with your trolling though.
That isn't what the press accounts said, but thanks for clearing that up.
BTW, I am hardly trolling. We have plenty of UM posters at 11W that post regularly too.
But he's also not afraid to share his opinions during a time when his team is riding high while our team is flailing. To the uninitiated, this may come across as a little harsh. But despite the horrible school he's chosen to root for, he's actually a pretty good guy. Just don't ask him his opinion on Hoke if you're a Hokeamaniac.
He's got a funny way of not trolling, considering he's done nothing but troll in this thread
Thanks HH....see you back on the "Dark Side" at 11W
Besides....I had to endure the Cooper years...turnabout is fair play
but shazier has lost an eyebrow for each TFL
That is when his alopecia hit full force. Imagine being bald your whole life....that is why he is so tough....sorta like a "boy named Sue" thing
or a story that was the case. i did find this image though, but admit i am not aware if alopecia comes and goes, or not
There is an interview on 11W from not too long ago in which Shazier talked about being hairless virtually his whole life. If you google the site for Shazier Kindergarten you should find it.
i believe you and suspected that was the case, just couldn't find anything confirming.
sorry for being an internet a++hole.
Thanks for that. I actually don't think Shazier is very sensitive about it at all anymore. Growing up? Well, that was probably a different story.
Hope young Ryan makes it big on Sundays because he is one scary looking human. Is he I'll in the picture.
watching Michigan ( and its ALOT)..I dont recall a more inept offense...If theres one out there the last 3-4 decades I dont recall it..the year Bo was 6-6 wasnt to far off but that was understandable considering the injuries that year..and they still managed to end up in the Holiday Bowl playing the Nations #1 and eventual National Champ BYU..Michigan almost pulled that game out...That offense struggled all year but NOTHING like this team
At least Michigan had a fairly competent running game in 2008. Off the top of my head, Minor averaged 5.2 ypc and McGuffie 4.1.
Another great RR hire, turned his back on contact. Embarrassing.
He was a recruit, not a RR hire.
a Lloyd Carr recruit not a Rich Rod recruit.
What? Are you drunk?
Oops, intended for napa above. Must be your avatar...
2013 YTD Stats: http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/112313aab.html
Year one of Rich Rod was worse than this year offensively by almost every measure but individual rushing yards per carry. (Bonus: Zolton, the Space Emporer of Space, was the yards per carry rushing leader ...)
Here was our line (left to right) in 2008:
Ortmann, RS Jr
McAvoy, RS Jr
Molk, RS Fr
Mooseman, RS Jr
Schilling, RS So
As I recall they had like 0 starting experience and averaged 290lbs (all were under 300). Threet, Sheridan, and many others on offense had no game experience either.
It is safe to say we have seen worse in the near past, and it was 2008. It was just year one with a new coaching staff after a mass exodus, not year three ...
Schilling was the starter at RT in 2007 as a redshirt freshman, but your larger point still stands.
C'mon mannn it's only like 900... get it right
It would have been much simpler for me if he had said, "I bet Michigan has allowed 419 TFL yards and an average of 9.3 TFLs per game" so I could just shrug my shoulders at the actual numbers and walk away.
for positive yardage.
Are you 3?
Obvious troll is obvious. Why he hasn't been hammered into oblivion I don't know. Anyone who posts anything resembling MLive should be banned. Where are you BiSB when we need you?
That we dont respond to that. Yes, it was a true statement by Ryan. But we dont have anything to stand on to trash talk. I think trash talk is one of the best parts of college football, but only when the two teams can actually back it up. We dont have that credit right now.
We have only given up 100+ tfl, to say 1000 tfl's is bulletboard material and non factual. Unless they get 900 on Saturday.
Hmmmm...What an interesting writing style you have! Such clever nicknames! I'll bet you've already worn a hole on the back of your "Walmart Wolverine" hoodie from patting yourself on the back.
A Buckeye troll arguing with another new troll to the board. Please continue, it's magical.
Step away from your parents computer, or until they teach you spell check.
Stop saying things about his hair/eyebrows, thats it a classless move due to the fact that he has a medical condition.
Tell that to Kevin Garnett
I bet you taste like Honey Nut Cherrios.
Who gives a shit he's a buckeye. This is hate week and supposedly the biggest rivalry in sports. Don't be so soft
M fans are, in general, soft. Sure, it's a terrible thing that Shazier has that, but it's not like it's life threatening, so fuck the guy.
Terrible? It's hair loss.
There are other issues with it, but they don't affect everyone.
I really don't think that sort of language directed towards a student-athlete is appropiate. These are merely college kids playing a game.
I can't believe I have fewer MGoPoiints than you. And I fear the difference in our MGoPoints won't be too far off from the point differential Saturday.
But still, and I say this with the greatest of respect and acknowledgement of your team's fine accomplishments this season, the tradition of The Game, and validity of your LBs comments regarding our offense's difficulty achieving positive yardage:
And when you play Michigan State, I hope you both fucking lose.
I hope Sparty and Brutus have their lips stitched to each other's freakishly swollen cartoon anuses in an acromegalic homage to Human Centipede. And then I hope their coprocephalic heads burst in a vile shower of shit and brains, covering fans in prion-laden filth during the halftime show.
I sincerely hope that the NCAA grows balls on Friday and finds so many recruiting violations that your coach suddenly remembers what a lousy father/husband he has been again.
I genuinely await the 60 Minutes story about how your vile buckeye Uniformz and helmets are manufactured in Indonesian sweat shops by 6 year olds who regularly die so that your ugly fricking helmets can sport a red stripe that is 30% larger because your meathead team can't get up for any game without dressing up, now that the gold pants jewelry accessories are off limits.
Lest you think I am a total asshole and without positivity, I light a candle and pray that that one fat, bald, buckeye fan who spray paints his head silver every week stops using the excuse of the effect of the paint fumes on his literal chrome dome to justify his graduating from Ohio summa cum laude and gets a real job besides cruising craig's list Cleveland for underage tail.
That said, good luck on Sunday and choke on a bucket of dicks!
And gimme more negative MGoPoints! I eat 'em for breakfast and crap Special Edition Buckeye Helmets!
This is phenomenal. Didn't you post something like this last year too? Ha. Phenomenal because I'm laughing at you, not with you, I should add. But still funny.
Ah, it's a laugh all the same. I'll take it.
Make me raise an eyebrow.
"According to cfbstats.com, Michigan has been tackled for a loss 102 times this season, second-worst in all of the FBS. The Wolverines lead just Idaho in the category, trailing even historically bad teams like Florida International."
Fuck Shazier and fuck Ohio.
Should be a piece of cake from his perspective.
"this is defnitely a championship caliber football team that will win in the "Big House" against Ohio State".... Devin Gardner to some Detroit radio station back in June 2013.
Hoke is going to be pissed at him for adding "State" at the end....
Oh geez. I forgot about that quote. Buckeye fans are gonna be all over that once M gets blown out on Saturday.
Not half as scandalous as Ohio still having a football program after decades of cheating.
How does the 1993 Final Four banner look? How many athletes took independent study courses from John Hagen?
The 1993 banner isn't there, and we paid a 10 year price. You pieces of institutional garbage circled the wagons, over and over again, and were allowed to basically benefit from it because the NCAA is completely ridiculous. But its rules? You agreed to abide by them. You haven't, and it's given you a competitive advantage. Bragging about it as a cherry on top? Bringing Tressel back IN 2012? So OSU. So you guys keep doing you, while the world laughs at you and shakes its head. You are like the shameless, slutty, white trash cousin in the typical Ohio family.
You just got owned dood.
He was drunk at the time. Pretty sure what he meant to say was....uhhh.....errrr.....fuck it. I've got nothing intelligent to retort with. This is what happens when you become completely apathetic as a fan. Kind of takes all of the fun out of Hate Week.
fuck is this guarantee you speak of? Unless you dont understand the difference between that and a prediction....fucking truck drivers I swear to god. Don't you have a cooler to poop in somewhere?
Unless Michigan pulls off their biggest upset in this series since the Cooper era, Shazier will be able to say, "I told you so." What makes rivalry games so great is that winners can brag all they want. Unfortunately, Sparty and Brutus have earned the right to say whatever they want until someone, anyone stops the bleeding.
And trust me: just writing this makes me want to vomit.
Every time I see the ESPN special about the rivalry, I want to scream when they get to the 95 game and Biakabatuka. We didn't see it coming and got our a**es handed to us.
Cooper just never got it when he was a coach, but he does now as a long time Columbus resident
And I definitely saw it coming. Not Biakabatuka running for 300 + yards but the idea that Michigan could beat OSU that year. We weren't a great team in 95, but we weren't awful either and the talent between the two teams was pretty comparable. Same with 93, same with 96 (although that one seemed like more of a longshot because the game was in Columbus and Brian Griese hadn't started all year prior to playing OSU).
But this isn't 1995 or even 2005. Michigan is simply not holding its end of the bargain right now in the Rivalry. This will be the 5th time in the last 7 years that I feel Michigan has ZERO shot going into The Game; the previous four times (2007-2010), my concerns were largely validated based on these atrocious scores:
14-3, 42-7, 21-10, 37-7
2007 was the only one of those games where Michigan was in OSU's zip code in terms of talent and a threat to pull the upset, but we were doomed from the start because of injuries to Henne and Hart that rendered them useless until the bowl game vs. Florida. The other 3 games had disaster written all over them going in and did not fail to disappoint.
I really thought after the last 2 years that this rivalry was going to get back on track again, that Michigan would bring something to the table and we'd get some more classics going on a regular basis. But this 7-4 team we've been watching can't hold a candle to the 8-4 teams from the mid 90's that gave OSU fits. Those teams would crack at times on defense or be inconsistent offensively, but they didn't suffer from having a specific unit on the field that just screamed "FAIL" like this team does. The three worst position units I ever saw at Michigan were the 2008 QBs, the 2010 DBs and the 2013 OL. The 2008 and 2010 seasons ended pretty horribly, and I don't see 2013 ending much better.
Oh yeah, and the Lions have resorted to being the Lions again.
My undergrad roomie (Ross MBA) and I went to a party hosted by one of his B School classmates that year. It was easily the most painful experience that I have ever had on game day. Surrounded by Wolverines, Biakabatuka running wild, hearing "hail to the victors" again and again. I took more abuse that day than Borges has taken on the MGo board to date.
Freakin' Cooper never got it
False. Only 753 TFL. Stupid Buckeye can't even count!
it only feels like a 1000
The offense has regressed to the point where MGoPosters no longer have the drive to whip up witty comebacks. The trash talk has become reality. And yet there are still those among us who want this nihilism to continue.
Everyone used up their witty remarks in the avatar thread.
Would be benched running behind this line.
about replays and he thinks it actually is 1000 tackles for loss! He's thinking, "Damn, why does Michigan keep running that play against Michigan State? They played like 4 times this year, with all the tape we've been watching, and the plays never work!"
Who is this Kali's you speak of? A weird alien version of Kalis - our current RG.
It hurts. It hurts like hell.
But that quote will be on a strategically placed Athletic Department bulletin board exactly one year from now. And Ohio will regret it.
Keep the faith, brothers and sisters. If not 2013, then 2014.
Payback is a bitch. And next year, she'll be an OLD as dirt one, itching for revenge.
Next year, a more seasoned line. A more powerful running game. A QB whose head has not been repeatedly ripped from his neck throughout the season.
All these things make a world of difference.
Forever Blue! Blue Forever!
Could be either, but the technical distinction is usually that a "gauntlet" is the medieval glove that knights or whoever threw down on the ground as a challenge for combat. The "gantlet" refers to the double row of dudes between whom someone had to run while being pummeled by the aforesaid dudes.
So I'd go with Mr Shazier throwing down the gauntlet, although I'm satisfied he was ignorant of so doing and ignorant of the distinction --- just altogether ignorant, actually.
