RVB Question

Submitted by CincinnatiWolverine on
I haven't really seen this mentioned on here when I've been on here the last few days, but it seems liks RVB was not on the field a whole lot during the ND game. Is he battling an injury, struggling in the new defensive scheme, or is he really out there most of the snaps and I was just not seeing him? I had to watch it on a pretty small TV last week, so it was a little hard to see who was who unless they showed a closeup shot, but I thought I saw Sagesse or Patterson in there quite a bit and not as much of Van Bergen. I'm just wondering if anyone else noticed this as well and knew anything about it.

Here's the deal: DE: Good player DT: Serviceable at best I will always defer to the expertise of the coaching staff, but I question the decision to play him at DT. I guess thats why they make millions and I live off welfare, wait, I mean graduate student salary.

Van Bergen is overmatched at defensive tackle. He's too tall to gain good leverage and he's too "thin" to be playing inside. He'd be better off playing strongside DE (Graham's position), which perhaps he'll play next year. I think next year we could see Sagesse slide over to Van Bergen's spot and have #53 over where Graham was.
