RVB Interview
I had a chance to talk with Ryan Van Bergen for our new site over at whitehotsports.com. This is the first edition of an offseason interview series with former Michigan players. RVB touches on his recruitment, Carr, Borges, Nussmeier, Hoke, his expectations moving forward and more. LINK here.

Ryan Van Bergen along with a few other guys have held down the DE positions pretty well, but now is the time for a guy to be a game changer. I'm looking at you Taco !

Jblaze doesn't have to explain why. It is a free country. Having said that, given what a great read the article was, and how unoffensive it was, it does make one curious why the neg vote. Also, the "voting details" tab Brian provides almost invites such scrutiny.

He is right that this is the equivalent year to when Hoke came in to coach Michigan. He entered when it was going to be RR's fourth year and it is his fourth year now so maybe we can see the leap like we did his senior season. It's going to take more than nine wins to be in the hunt for a Big Ten Championship though. Great interview and thanks for doing it for us.

I wonder if the defense is going to be bringing in anyone who is emotional and able to make plays ? hmmmmmmmmm

May I make a suggestion on a future person to interview?
Bennie Joppru. I'm confident he will do it. His commentary on twitter during games are classic.

This was a great interview, and an enjoyable read. I find his take on Borges very interesting, and I tend to agree. RVB's comments on Carr and the rabid Michigan fan base, along with his observations on Borges getting a raw deal with the challenged interior offensive line, were on the mark. I really wish Borges was given another year, but it was probably a necessary move on the part of Hoke.

Thanks a ton for the positive input, everybody! As I said we'll have a lot more interviews to come over the offseason plus all kinds of other content as well. You can follow me at @tkumich for links to the Michigan-specific pieces and @whitehot_sports for all of our site's content.
Also any suggestions for future interviews are much appreciated and questions, too.

RVB will always have a special spot in my Michigan fandom for his interview during the spring game his senior year. Hoke had just arrived and he was asked about all the former players showing up vs previous years. Instead of taking the bait and having it be a Hoke vs. RR comparison he asked where all the former players had been. That he (RVB) and the others had been wearing the winged helmet/Maize & Blue the whole time.

While I wish he were in the NFL, it's great to see an athlete who excelled on the field and who has also made good use of his academic opportunities.
