Rutgers -- Believes There is an Ongoing Beef Between Flood and Harbaugh
Rutgers' beat writers believe that there is a beef between Flood and Harbaugh. I'm sure Harbaugh couldn't care less about Flood, but apparently, the Rutgers side thinks that Harbaugh was running up the score (even though he put in all the backups with 11 minutes left in the 4th quarter). They've likened it to the Carroll/Harbaugh and Schwartz/Harbaugh spats, however, this seems to be one of those stories that are just in their minds and Harbaugh doesn't care about Flood. Michigan simply wanted to shut Rutgers down and they did so in the second half - strictly business.
Harbaugh said his decision was influenced solely by the two-point conversion chart, which seemed disingenuous considering the size of Michigan's lead and the amount of time remaining in the game. Harbaugh's true motive was later revealed by his players, who said he was incensed by trash talk from Rutgers players on the way into the locker room at halftime.
Flood was asked about the situation Sunday on his weekly postgame teleconference.
"I think if there's something Coach Harbaugh wants me to know, then he'll say it to me," Flood said. "The other stuff, I won't comment on."
In addition, Flood apparently tried to poke fun at Harbaugh by saying that the deceptive trick play that was called back was ironic because John Harbaugh lost to the Pats due to a trick play. Apparently, Flood gets to take credit for the Pats somehow (because a few Rutgers' former players are on the Pats?? Uhh, have they heard about Tom Brady??)...
Flood was asked about a play late in the first half when Michigan tight end Jake Butt appeared to substitute out of the game, but instead lined up along the sideline. No Rutgers defender noticed Butt and he was wide-open for a pass from Jake Rudock for a big gain. But the play was called back and Michigan was assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for "intent to deceive."
Asked about the play after the game, Flood made an interesting reference.
"I didn't think it was legal," Flood said. "I thought the officials did a good job officiating the play and to some degree, maybe some irony with what happened with his brother in the playoffs last year with New England and Baltimore, maybe."
Jim Harbaugh's brother, John, is the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. The New England Patriots, who happen to have a strong Rutgers pipeline, used an unusual — but legal — formation to confound the elder Harbaugh brother in last season's NFL playoffs. The play had absolutely nothing to do with the Rutgers-Michigan game, so it was interesting that Flood decided to mention an embarrassing moment for one Harbaugh brother moments after losing to the other brother's team by 33 points.

BTN tried so hard to make a rivalry between them and Penn State.
And then they played the games.

A beef with Rutgers is a two dollar steak.

How is Flood going to exact revenge from his perch as wr coach at Idaho next year?
Amazed that dude still has a job with all the hijinks at his school.

Simple answer. No money and the AD has no power. The President is also basically an interim President who was hired to oversee the merger of UMDNJ (New Jersey's Medical School) with Rutgers. It was a Chris Christie cost-cutting maneuver to close UMDNJ and give all of its assets to Rutgers.
Anyway, bottom line is no one in Rutgers' administration has any power to do anything, nor do they want to do anything. They are just waiting it all out and hoping for the best.

I think it's more of the fact that they cannot afford the next coach, i.e., someone who will cost more than the $1 mil that Flood gets.
Also the $1.4 mil buyout for Flood was apparently backstopped by an individual donor - Jeff Towers - a guy that Flood tried to hire as the Recruiting Coordinator, until his NCAA compliance department told him that he probably can't.

I thought that merger was accomplished a couple of years ago... didn't then-UMDNJ have all kinds of compliance issues and were basically regulated/fined/jailed out of business?

they're all rivals. That Rutgers-OSU rivalry sure is intense, same with the Rutgers-Wisconsin rivalry; Rutgers-MSU; Rutgers-PSU; Rutgers-Nebraska; and of course Rutgers-Michigan... All the top teams in the B1G want a piece of Rutgers!
/s... in case it wasn't obvious

The Rutgers Athletic Department is a mess. They need a new athletic director, football, and basketball coaches to start if they want any kind of success or credibility.

Or they're just RUTGERZ.

The whole story was LOL so I had to share it. I'm putting them in the "wanna-be little brother" category. They want to be our little brother, but they're not related!

Kyle Flood is probably the last coach on this planet that should be calling out another coach. His team sucks a fat turd, and his personal ethics are questionable at best. You got your ass handed to you by 33 points. Sit the fuck down and learn your place in this world. You can't and won't ever even sniff the level of success that Harbaugh has had and will continue to have.

...I had to listen to a trio of Rutgerz fans talk smack about M in the lounge of the hotel I was staying at in western NY.
It's amazing how they win one game over one of the worst M teams in a long time and all the humanoids out there think they're somebody.
Harbaugh gave Flood and Co. a richly deserved beating. Long may he continue!

Flood should have sent those comments from his personal email, so they couldn't be FOIAed, and also put a line in the text explaining his line of reasoning for using his personal email for the communication.

Is Flood going to still be at Rutgers after this season is over?
This is probably a non-issue wrapped in a non-issue.

Like Harbaugh won't have a little burr in his saddle blanket next year. As long as Flood is coach Rutgers is in for an ass kicking. Over competitive guys never use motivation like this right?
November 8th, 2015 at 7:55 PM ^
Don't think Harbaugh won't use this next year, though. Even when Flood is fired.
You don't talk about family. Those are fighting words.

That's from yesterday, but I think it doesn't really make sense. The proceeds will be donated to the school, but it doesn't seem like it's contingent on the fact that Flood gets fired.
Seems like they should go the route of Miami - hire a bunch of planes to fly overhead with "Fire Flood!" during every game.
