Rutgers AD tries, fails to rein in student tailgate
Apparently the Rutgers AD went to a student tailgate to try to get the rowdiness under control. After mounting the stage to address the assembled students, he had second thoughts and decided to join the fun by cracking open a beer. More power to him, I say!
Eventually he came to his senses:
“I regret that any action on my part can be interpreted as promoting the use of alcohol,’’ he said. “That was certainly not my intention.’’
One would hate to promote the use of alcohol to a bunch of college kids. Think about what they might do! On the bright side, this guy is way cooler than Brandon.

now that is going full Rutgerz
September 20th, 2016 at 10:02 PM ^
Not enough public humiliation and futility yet - I would say it was about one-half RUTGERZ at best
September 20th, 2016 at 10:06 PM ^
He would have had to spike the beer on 4th down to go full Rutgers.
September 21st, 2016 at 5:59 AM ^
Never go full Rutgers.
September 20th, 2016 at 10:02 PM ^
Having an AD come out to have a beer with the students is pretty damn cool. Props to that guy.
September 20th, 2016 at 10:02 PM ^
OT because...Rutgers. Fuck Rutgers, a waste of time. Roll them by 5 TDs and move to the next game.
September 20th, 2016 at 10:04 PM ^
Getting rolled and wasting time... Sounds more like RUTGERZ

Rutgers never needs their own thread just sayin

And yet here we are.
September 20th, 2016 at 10:07 PM ^
And our new AD is busy trying to kill spiderman
September 20th, 2016 at 10:08 PM ^
Ahahaha and now they all hate him. Nice going A.D.
Regrettably, due to safety concerns, The Alley is no longer available

Everyone knows that Adults shouldn't and can't drink beer. That kind of stuff is for kids.. Not responsible adults.

September 20th, 2016 at 10:19 PM ^
I don't get why colleges think alcohol use is bad even if the student is over 21. I get not promoting alcohol abuse but they are adults.
September 20th, 2016 at 10:21 PM ^
an adult open a beer and that's a problem?
September 20th, 2016 at 10:29 PM ^
He's the face of the athletic department and a representative of the University. Could you imagine the shit storm if Warde Manuel or Mark Schlissel did this?
September 20th, 2016 at 10:37 PM ^
no I couldn't, but I'm not a pussy either. college campuses are pathetic anymore. I'll go back to my "safe space" now
September 20th, 2016 at 10:40 PM ^
Welcome to the real world. If you want a big boy job then accept the responsibility that comes with it. This isn't a new idea.
September 20th, 2016 at 11:38 PM ^
I have a big boy job. No one pretends adults don't drink a beer while tailgating.

We're not talking about drinking beer at a tailgate. That's not what he did, he got up on stage at the event and chugged one.
September 20th, 2016 at 11:58 PM ^
Not the best judgement.
September 21st, 2016 at 6:35 AM ^
Yeah, you're not supposed to chug a Sam Adams.

'Not the Best Judgement' is engraved in Latin on the Rutgers University official seal. ...

I have to agre with Mr Small Dick. Not a good look for an AD.

Meh. I still don't see the problem. Maybe it's just I still have a sense of humor.

The amount of upvotes this post got is yet another confirmation of my general dislike of the old "murica" commentariat.

Kenneth Cop!
September 20th, 2016 at 10:27 PM ^
For it to be news or a "problem" he'd have to slam some tequila out of the bottle and then finger a coed.
September 20th, 2016 at 10:41 PM ^
That'd be a problem? I guess I need to reevaluate my memories of pregaming
September 20th, 2016 at 10:51 PM ^
If he's going to do that sort of thing, he should do it in private.
We're fine though, as regular fans. Fingerbang away.
September 21st, 2016 at 8:43 AM ^
Or finger a coed and then hit a shot of tequila

The funniest thing I saw was one of the linked stories at the bottom of the page was titled "butthole eating at Lion's game", and as advertised was a SFW picture of some guys eating someone's (couldn't tell gender) but th in a parking lot while tailgating for a Lion's game.
September 20th, 2016 at 10:51 PM ^
Do you mean NSFW? Or is your office culture different from mine?

By SFW, I meant that there isn't anything explicit in the picture. Both people are clothed (that can be seen, a car is blocking).

Before this afternoon I had never had a sip of alcohol in my life. In the few hours since I've seen that video, I've drank a case of beer and done all manner of horrible things in my intoxicated state. When I sober up, probably in jail, I'll surely curse that Rutgers AD for (burp) inspiring poor, impressionable me to do all this.
September 21st, 2016 at 7:49 AM ^
I'm picturing an actual Wolverine getting wasted. It's awesome. Also, I don't think that you'd be in jail for very long. You would probably chew through the bars in a matter of minutes.

Scott Farrel on CBS radio is roasting Rutgers hard right now. Says they are a trash school and would kill himself if his kid ever wanted to go there.
September 21st, 2016 at 12:03 AM ^
But . . . but . . . they're going to make all of New York City Big Ten fans!
September 21st, 2016 at 6:46 AM ^
Yes indeed. Both fans of Rutgers promised to make it a block-by-block campaign if necessary too, as I recall. I think that at last report they were going to be done with Staten Island and moving across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge by 2078 or so.

Parents must be so proud/glad they sent their kids there.

I wish I was at that tailgate so bad, looked awesome on social media. Also, nothing wrong with going to Rutgers, but I'm biased.
