Rushing the court

Submitted by Mitch Cumstein on

Obviously this topic has been beaten to the ground. I just wanted to suggest that if, and it is a big IF (knock on wood and do any other good luck ritual), we beat MSU next week, the students should refrain from rushing the court. I would find that quite funny.

This is actually an interesting idea. Nothing would anger Sparty more than the sight of everyone casually walking towards the exit.

I was discussing this with some other friends who are also out of state students. Whenever we are not in Michigan, we never hear anything about Michigan State. One of my friends suggested that not rushing the court would be a great way to celebrate how irrelevant they are.

I am from out-of-state, and no one really ever talks about them. Their basketball team is good, yes. But their national cachet is actually not as high as it should be, in my opinion, given how good they are at basketball. As has been said on this board, they simply are not a national brand. We are. (Although we shouldn't take that for granted- we need to get our bball and especially our football program back to perennial top-10 rankings.)

I think it would be better to just turn our backs and leave without caring about them, imo that would be read as some kind of you're not enough for us to even bother to celebrate we beat you...

If Michigan beats MSU, I'm going to find a court somewhere near me, strip to my underwear, and RUSH THE FUCKING COURT!

Maybe, but all that counts is you find a court, any court and RUSH THE FUCK OUT OF IT! I promise you, the judge will probably be a Michigan law grad if you do it in Oakland county and thus you should get off with just a misdemeanor.

go to games to have fun watching their team and cheer to express that, not as a coordinated attack on another school they are obsessed with

Agree with everything other than the claim of obsession. The only reason I would be in favor of some coordinated effort is because MSU fans have gone out of their way recently in order to provoke UM fans, and it would be nice to return the favor.

If MICH leads at halftime, we should rush the court. Unless the lady on the unicycle is there to flip bowls on her head. If she is, rush the court after she gets the 7th bowl on her head. That shit is awesome.

Storming the court after the UConn win seemed more like a spontaneous response to the storm of emotions representing this year's disappointing football, basketball and hockey seasons.

I'm not sure what each person's criteria is for "storming" a court or a field, but if anyone storms Crisler's court, I hope it's WE and not THEY: http://www.spartantailgate.com/forums/msu-red-cedar-message-board/42476…
