Runyan Sr says Runyan Jr is staying.

Submitted by BlueFab5 on

John Runyan Sr. was on a Philly sports station last night, Michigan and his son's commitment were briefly brought up.  Senior said he was staying with Michigan.

Good call, BostonWolverine.  Runyan Sr knows that the University of Michigan is still, despite David Brandon's special "brand" of arrogance and bumbling incompetence, one of the top schools and top football programs in the NCAA.  He knows that a housecleaning will happen in November.

Whoever Michigan decides to hire, Runyan Jr will be in good hands.

I have a better likelihood than Funk to be the OL coach next year.  And my resume reads "IT guy and bartender."  And I never submitted my resume to the Michigan athletic department.  Still.  I have better odds.

EDIT: In response to the child abuse comment.

My thought here would be that, depending on the bar and its clientele, he would have rather a lot of experience with requiring good pad level. If that's the case, I think we could probably arrange this somehow through the blog's newfound prominence. The IT portion simply means this will be a forward team as far as integrating technology into the sport, I assume.

A question...do you believe past players who have their sons coming or thinking of coming to Michigan to play football have a different viewpoint on our current coaching situation? Maybe a bit less support, being a little more quiet, etc.?

Always easier when you aren't a parent.

The answer to this question is most definitely a yes.  Past players are some of the only left in the house still supporting Hoke.  Additionally, his dedication to the livelihood of his team (regardless of wins, losses, and perceived development) is exactly the kind of dedication a parent should want for their child.

If you are a parent and you want your child to be on a winning football team a different opinion is warranted, but what parents cares most about the success of the team, rather than the success of their child?

Tell you what - if and when Hoke and crew get taken out of their current roles each and every one has a job with me if they want it.  I've spent virtually my entire adult life either selling stuff or managing people to sell stuff and say you want about their ability to coach - THOSE DUDES ARE CLOSERS!

I mean it's easy to sell kids on going to Michigan when the team is good and the players are obviously getting better each year.  But those cats are selling Michigan and the team sucks and just about everybody seems to regress in their development.  Now that's a salesman who can make that deal a reality.

These guys are just in the wrong line of work.
