Rumormongering: Morris taking 1st Team Snaps this Week? [Ed-H: False.]
I'm not sure where else to inquire about this, but I've heard a few unfounded rumblings that Shane Morris is taking the majority of the snaps this week in practice. At first, this sounds pretty ridiculous until you take into account the tweet re: Gardner's arm being in a makeshift sling earlier this week.
Mods, I plead that, if this is too incindenary, that you promptly shut down said thread instead of purchasing my one-way exit row seat to La Paz.
[Ed-Heiko: This rumor is false.]

But seriously, I don't hate this. Could be resting DG. Whatever. DG will be starting

Random tweets, some folks on campus...but nobody that would necessarily be, like, a lockdown source.

DG will start. I hope he has a great game!

Yes, let's not have Russell Bellomy does Nebraska, part deux

I dunno.... I kind of like a good horror flick.

Well that would pretty much guarantee a massacre, but I doubt it's true.

Shane Morris will get killed by our OL. DG at least has a little bit of mobility.

I keep thinking that DG back to WR is the ONLY wrinkle Borges could possibly have up his sleeve.

They'll never expect it to be run 29 times

It's how reality is today. Everyone who saw this OP, even just the title, on the Recent Post board has now read mention of the rumor that Shane might start. If not for the long weekend, that could have literally been enough to start a substantial rumor by gameday.
And for those who read the post:
Arm in sling. Morris with the majority of snaps. Gardner's "comments". It all adds up.
Maybe Shane does start.
Or maybe it's nothing.
Or maybe most comments are nothing. Maybe not even maybe.
November 28th, 2013 at 7:56 PM ^
No question DG isn't remotely close to 100% and any kind of rest he can get will be more useful than taking snaps in practice.

You think Gardner will do better? He's more scared than a mouse in a snake's cage.
November 28th, 2013 at 10:05 PM ^
And Shane would be that mouse's shit. As yippy as DG is right now, he's still a much much better option than Shane. I doubt DG has a good game. But he'll still have a much better game than Shane would IMO.
November 29th, 2013 at 1:16 AM ^
attitude, and he's a warrior. But, he has become gunshy as the season has progressed, and fails to make throws when he should. Instead, he has tended to watch the rush, instead of looking downfield. I hope he steps up into the pocket, and releases the ball on time. If he does that, we stand a chance.
If Morris plays, I think we'll be more prolific in the short passing game, where Devin has been inconsistent, and too jittery, but I really hope this is an effort to get DG in at wide out for a few plays, and get Morris some practice time.

Gardner has taken a beating and opposing defenses know they don't have to cover for long. Taking away the rest isn't rocket science.
November 28th, 2013 at 8:11 PM ^
...he's been hurt for 4 weeks now. There is a chance he doesn't finish the game, Morris has to be ready. This is a nonstory.
November 28th, 2013 at 8:14 PM ^
all over again?
A QB with no business being out there because he's too hurt to practice?

Ugh, flashbacks. I still don't know why they stuck with Henne so long in that game. 11/34, yikes. Felt bad for him. Senior, last game, can't feel arm.

If the rumors are true, them I'm kind of excited to see Shane thrown into the snake pit. Regardless if Devin is healthy or not, he has been just as big of a problem as the offensive line and running backs. Shane has tremendous upside and can probably test Ohio vertically more efficiently compared to Devin. Now if line can handle the onslaught of interior blitzes that Fickle is going to dial up...I can't even finish that sentence. We're screwed.
November 28th, 2013 at 9:00 PM ^
You can bet if this is the case, Fickell will be dialing up the blitz on every single play. I'd be shocked if Morris wasn't sacked 10 times.

AJ McCarron's first real game not just garbage time was against Auburn in 2010 after McElroy got knocked out. He took the field with Julio Jones already out due to an injury so no go to receiver. According to his dad, this was the exchange.
November 28th, 2013 at 11:06 PM ^
Wasn't he a redshirt then?
November 29th, 2013 at 1:05 AM ^
Who was that Texas QB who got put in against Bama in the MNC (I believe was a freshman/RS freshman) and promptly crapped the bed, did nothing of note at Texas after that, and transferred to a small school (SMU I think)? Gilbert or something of the like?
November 29th, 2013 at 2:17 AM ^
It's probably impossible to tell if that had anything to do with 'Bama beating his ass or if he just wasn't any good.
EDIT: And it was Garrett Gilbert, who actually wasn't horrifying against Alabama. Texas was in that game the whole way.
