Rumormongering: Morris taking 1st Team Snaps this Week? [Ed-H: False.]

Submitted by JamesBondHerpesMeds on

I'm not sure where else to inquire about this, but I've heard a few unfounded rumblings that Shane Morris is taking the majority of the snaps this week in practice. At first, this sounds pretty ridiculous until you take into account the tweet re: Gardner's arm being in a makeshift sling earlier this week.

Mods, I plead that, if this is too incindenary, that you promptly shut down said thread instead of purchasing my one-way exit row seat to La Paz.

[Ed-Heiko: This rumor is false.]

Al Borges' plan all along. Shane is actually Peyton Manning and he has been saved for the ohio state game, which will be a blow out but also make Peyton too tired to play Sunday, meaning the broncos will lose and the offensive coordinator will take the blame for it, obviously for letting his QB play a college game the day before, meaning the spot is open, Borges (looking like a genius for getting a hall of fame caliber QB to play for him and beat a rival) takes the job he always wanted. Also, I heard Shane Morris is thinking of transferring with Glenn Robinson iii and McGary to man united. Or this could all be nothing...

It's how reality is today.  Everyone who saw this OP, even just the title, on the Recent Post board has now read mention of the rumor that Shane might start.  If not for the long weekend, that could have literally been enough to start a substantial rumor by gameday.

And for those who read the post:

Arm in sling.  Morris with the majority of snaps.  Gardner's "comments".  It all adds up.

Maybe Shane does start.

Or maybe it's nothing.

Or maybe most comments are nothing.  Maybe not even maybe.

attitude, and he's a warrior.  But, he has become gunshy as the season has progressed, and fails to make throws when he should.  Instead, he has tended to watch the rush, instead of looking downfield.  I hope he steps up into the pocket, and releases the ball on time.  If he does that, we stand a chance.

If Morris plays, I think we'll be more prolific in the short passing game, where Devin has been inconsistent, and too jittery, but I really hope this is an effort to get DG in at wide out for a few plays, and get Morris some practice time.

If the rumors are true, them I'm kind of excited to see Shane thrown into the snake pit.  Regardless if Devin is healthy or not, he has been just as big of a problem as the offensive line and running backs.  Shane has tremendous upside and can probably test Ohio vertically more efficiently compared to Devin.  Now if line can handle the onslaught of interior blitzes that Fickle is going to dial up...I can't even finish that sentence.  We're screwed.

If the rumors are true, then I'm actually horrified. If Shane is thrown into the fire for this kind of game, and it ends up going really badly, it could be something that destroys his confidence for the rest of his career here.

You can bet if this is the case, Fickell will be dialing up the blitz on every single play. I'd be shocked if Morris wasn't sacked 10 times.

AJ McCarron's first real game not just garbage time was against Auburn in 2010 after McElroy got knocked out. He took the field with Julio Jones already out due to an injury so no go to receiver. According to his dad, this was the exchange.

"We do our same routine," Tony McCarron said. "We walk from the stadium back to the complex every night. So we're walking down the middle of the road and I put my arm around him and I said, 'Man, that was a tough, tough spot to be thrown into.'

"He looked at me and looked around and saw no one was standing there and he said, 'Dad, that was the best damn 51 seconds of my life.'

That is how you know a guy really wants to be a QB.
