Rumored: Leach to USF, Magee staying?

Submitted by Quail2theVict0r on
It's being reported on the ESPN boards that Leach is going to be hired at USF. I would assume this means Magee is staying here. EDIT: it's not a done deal yet but supposedly it "should be" sometime today.

A local talk show host talked to a source in the USF athletic department awhile ago on the condition of anonymity, asked him directly if Leach was a possibility, and his answer was "Fuck, no," and the reason was that, from their perspective, they would be hiring exactly what they just fired.

This offseason for college football looked like it was going to be so boring. ND was "the only major program doing a coaching search" and everyone pretty much knew who the next guy was going to be before they even fired the old one. Now things are as crazy as we've ever seen.

This is more of a fucking joke than Kiffin. Fire the creator of your program because some baby cried about getting hit then you hire the guy fired for locking his players up.

Well, being a resident of Tampa, I don't hear any bellyaching because Leavitt was fired. However, it is odd they'd hire a guy who just got fired for abusing a player, when USF canned a coach for the same thing. Seems hypocritical.

Lol, that was stupid, but funny. Seriously, I was never able to get outraged over what Leached did, the way other people did. He didnt put the player in any danger and we only really heard one side of the story in the media. Leach says that James acted like a spoiled baby since joining the team, and his refusal to participate in ANY activities (not practice) was just another example. He put him in a closet, he didnt smack him around or anything like that. I think Leach got a bad wrap.

Does Craig James have a son on that team? Seriously....you fire a guy for player abuse, and you hire a guy who is the new poster child for player abuse! Well done. Somebody's gonna write a book about this and make millions!

I hear that they contacted Leach, but not that they are going to hire him. I also heard that they have contacted a dozen other coaches. I still think Holtz is the frontrunner, but who knows.
