It's being reported on the ESPN boards that Leach is going to be hired at USF. I would assume this means Magee is staying here.
EDIT: it's not a done deal yet but supposedly it "should be" sometime today.
A local talk show host talked to a source in the USF athletic department awhile ago on the condition of anonymity, asked him directly if Leach was a possibility, and his answer was "Fuck, no," and the reason was that, from their perspective, they would be hiring exactly what they just fired.
And he would play in a stadium that has a pirate ship in it!
USF started a football program in '97. They have so little history they could even change their name to the USF Buccaneers. Cover up the NFL logos on the field, change your colors and hire the Pirate. I love it!
This offseason for college football looked like it was going to be so boring. ND was "the only major program doing a coaching search" and everyone pretty much knew who the next guy was going to be before they even fired the old one. Now things are as crazy as we've ever seen.
Not that I loved Rich Rod less, but that I loved Michigan more.
This is more of a fucking joke than Kiffin. Fire the creator of your program because some baby cried about getting hit then you hire the guy fired for locking his players up.
It would be hard to be more ridiculous.
Seriously. Not to mention Texas Tech willingly hired fucking BOB KNIGHT. That administration is run by a bunch of rednecks.
Yes, I would definitely stay away from the winningest coach in the history of the game if he was available...
Think Tubbs is kicking himself right now?
Give up a walkon lb in and keep our OC? It won't have a major impact on us but I'm not sure what USF has to gain.
"If they ever catch me, they can have 'em."
Lol, that was stupid, but funny.
Seriously, I was never able to get outraged over what Leached did, the way other people did. He didnt put the player in any danger and we only really heard one side of the story in the media. Leach says that James acted like a spoiled baby since joining the team, and his refusal to participate in ANY activities (not practice) was just another example. He put him in a closet, he didnt smack him around or anything like that. I think Leach got a bad wrap.
Does Craig James have a son on that team?
Seriously....you fire a guy for player abuse, and you hire a guy who is the new poster child for player abuse! Well done. Somebody's gonna write a book about this and make millions!
"My doctor recently told me that jogging could add years to my life. I think he was right. I feel ten years older already."
Where did you see this rumor?
Try and separate a man from his soul, you only strengthen his and lose your own
was USF was in serious negotiations with Skip Holtz. No mention of Mike Leach anywhere.
I hear that they contacted Leach, but not that they are going to hire him. I also heard that they have contacted a dozen other coaches. I still think Holtz is the frontrunner, but who knows.
Holtz tweeted this morning that he's "back at work today", implying he was going to be working at ECU for the foreseeable future. http://blogs.tampabay.com/usf/
I also heard that they've contacted Leach, but I haven't found anything indicating they are anywhere close to hiring them.

They sure aren't keeping anyone in the dark with this hire.
Mike leach with florida talent is just scary "Guns up"
We will have our vengeance- Michigan football 2010
To punish his players he can just throw them in the barracks of the pirate ship. Leach is the perfect fit.
Hail to the Victors!
USF fires Leavitt...and will reportedly hire Leach (cue laugh track).
Hoke bitches...Hoke.
This seems to be the most credible story that I've heard. And I have been following the USF coaching situation.

and another note: Joe Shad apparrently tweeted that Holtz is USF's #1 choice followed by Magee. So if the Holtz agreement doesnt get struck by friday, that would suck.
Well, it's a step up for USF. If I'm a football player, I'd much rather chill out in a closet than get bitch slapped in front of my teammates. Sweet.
