Rumor: SI set to release latest Buckeye findings on 5/31

Submitted by 1464 on

Columbus radio reports that SI will launch their newest round of missiles at OSU a week from today.  In true Buckeye fashion, the radio personality said that SI was 'saluvating' over the article.  I guess the guy covering the story is a Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist.

It will probably be some of the stuff that we covered on here last week.  But apparently there is new dirt on Tressel going back to his YSU days.  It's about both Tressel and players, and there is a pretty thorough history of this 'thing', whatever it is.  Popcorn sales in Michigan are peaking right about now...

I actually own a Lexus and have never in my life had any bumper sticker on any car I've ever had.  But I do have vanity plates related to UM (Virginia plates) and a UM rim around the plates.  I WOULD TOTALLY BUY THAT STICKER if Brian sold it.  What a great way to rub it into OSU fans.

It's not like SI drops a bomb on Columbus. Nooo, way better -- there are these leaks, tSIO fans are going to have sleepless nights knowing what is coming for a week.  Whereas we UM fans wake up each morning to see who the latest 4* commit is to UM, those wearing the scarlet & gray wake up every day fearing what news is coming out to doom their team.

Whatever pain we endured for the last four years... well, payback's a beeeyatch, ain't it?

Please make it so where that program just burns to the ground. I will love to host a BBQ on OSU's campus as it burns to the ground and i see all the recruits from ohio wear Michigan apparell. Who's with me?!

I'm hanging in one of the libraries wearing one of my favorite Maize n Blue shirts.  I've seen a few other brave souls donning their Michigan gear in the last few days.  Talk about a ray of hope in an endless, terrible black sky.

On another note, when I got to the bus stop today (with shirt on), I was greeted by a frat brah wearing a shirt that said "Where Amazing Happens" and an arrow pointing down.  Gosh, these people sure value education.

This reporter supposedly dug up enough hard evidence in two trips to Columbus that an entire new investigation would be spawned.  Information that not only had OSU not reported but that the NCAA nor OSU knew of.  "Going far back" as in information that the NCAA had not found in 4 previous investigations into Tressel run programs... I guess I'll believe it when I see it. Not saying is impossible just...hard to believe.  Again, not that there are infractions, that isn't hard to believe, but that he could find significant ones unknown and/or unreported by OSU in that timeframe.  If OSU didn't know about them, then his information search would be that much more difficult, dealing with private business, landlords etc.  Again, it's not impossible, I just don't know what he could have come up with.  The two mouthbreathers on 97.1 and their tease of this information aside, I wonder what it could be.

The way everything seems to be going down, Tressel is gonna be the scapegoat for this whole ordeal.  I wouldn't be surprised if OSU keeps him around for the season to get out all the dirt, and let him fall on his sword for the entire mess.  I'm hoping there will be some pretty severe penalties to let Michigan clean up recruiting wise over the next 2 years, but I'm starting to get the feeling that OSU itself may get off light on this thing.

A woman from Ohio I work with has a sister who works for OSU academically and also knows a couple people in the athletic dept.  She told me she'd get the "straight story" during a visit in March.  Came back saying Tress was the fall guy for higher-ups, which in the context of tatgate sounded like a load of "poor Tress" crap to me and I dismissed it.  Recent events make me wonder if they're onto something.  This kind of mess reeks of boosters gone wild and trustees turning a blind eye, if even half-true.  Wow.

Farnn,

I believe that, along with the mess of the Jim O'Brien situation is the only reason Tressel is still employed. The longer he's there, the more OSU can blame on him, and in a desparate attempt to keep his job, Tressel will accept responsibility and distract the investigation from what really goes on in the athletic department at tOSU.

Wasn't George Dohrmann the same writer who wrote about college players being paid? I think Santonio Holmes was mentioned in that article.

Raise your hand if you would like to see Tressel perform seppuku at midfield of the Big House this November while the Blue Angels fly above and U-M and the NCAA laughs heartily while wringing their hands. Also fireworks.
