I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF YOU SONNY
Wow. Them is some bold words you got there.
If you are right the shitstorm will be unprecedented.
I might need to come back in a week and print this post as proof that our MGoInsiders had the scoop a week ahead of time.
"Ted Ginn's dad getting paid for years to funnel recruits ..."...
Oh, that is just too good. Too good to be true.
but never has a big-time program had the FBI and IRS digging around like this.
Isn't that exactly what's going on with Auburn right now? I thought the FBI was investigating the alleged links between the school and illegal gambling money.
I recall reading somewhere about the FBI investigating political corruption in Alabama State. Some of the guys being investigated also happen to be Auburn boosters. Who also happen to own casinos. Who allegedly have fixed slot machines which were allegedly used to payoff political folks and hook up football players with cash.
Pretty crazy if true, but needs to be taken with enourmous grain of salt until the FBI actualy bags one of them.
My god. If those rumors are true Auburn (who's already on probation) is staring a loss of accredidation in the face. You can't have people on your Board involved in stuff like this.
I do love a scandal. A real scandal, not the bullshit we got caught up in over stretching.
I just took the time to read that TigerDroppings article for the first and thtat is some awesome stuff. That'll be movie one day if it proves to be true. And if it is true, Auburn doesn't have to worry about the death penalty, because their school will be reduced to a community college. The thing that immediately set of warning sirens for me was where the Colonial Bank Board of Directors is almost identical to the Board of Trustees for Auburn. Woooowee
Well, the FBI digging into Ed Martin certainly presented problems for us. Being able to subpoena really makes a difference.
There isn't enough popcorn in the world to enjoy that.
I'm confident you'd figure something out.
And a really big laser.
when I read this.
Holy crap if true.
Raback and BKFinest bow to your predictions. If you are right, you shall be showered with useless upvotes.
If you're wrong, though...
then you're just a guy on the internet making predictions, like the rest of us.
Ok, I understand Raback with the Demar Dorsey scoop and the legendary ensuing posbang. But wasn't BKFinest the dude who guaranteed Zettel was blue? How does he continue to get Raback cred?
there was NO WAY OSU could get Kyle Madsen without girls, drugs and money
OSU reports so many secondary violations. It made their compliance department look like they were doing a good job and kept the NCAA from finding out what was really going on in Columbus.
If the thing about Ginn Sr. getting paid is true I feel sorry for all the Glenville kids who went to OSU. I wonder if this would effect their eligibility to play at OSU? Then again, if all this is true I expect the hammer to fall pretty hard and most of them to want to get out anyway.
if Ginn were paid, unless the Newton precedent does not hold. Recall that Newton's Dad was found to have soliticed bids for his son's services, but Cam was not touched because they couldn't prove that he knew Dad was soliciting bids.
it was never proven that his dad took any money from Auburn. It's easily assumed by a person with a 3rd grade education, but it was never proven. All that was proven is that Cam's Dad asked Miss (or Miss St, I can't remember) for money to send Cam there. The school said no, and Cam ended up at Auburn, but it hasn't (yet) come out that any money changed hands.
If it did and Cam was found innocent, then fine, but the coaches would be in serious trouble.
Also, Ginn Sr. is a HS coach and this cannot be legal for him or OSU.
Here bully, bully. Look at this red cape over here while I stick it to you!
They are about to get bent over and fucked mercilessly.
... I'm calling BS. I just can't believe that something so pervasive has been kept quiet this well. With the IRS and FBI involved, someone would have leaked the details a whole lot earlier.
Clarrett threw out some bombshell's but OSU did a great job of painting him as some crazy kid saying things to get revenge.
Hawk and Mangold had $3000 cash stolen from their apartment. It's pretty common for most college kids to have 3K in cash lying around in their apartment, right?
Troy Smith was suspended for taking money from a booster.
OSU has had a few players kicked off the team for drugs - I think one was a punter who was dealing but then somehow got back on the team, I could be wrong. Another was a highly regarded running back.
When tatgate broke, Pittman tweeted/texted that players had been getting hooked up there for years.
I don't necessarily think it's been quiet so much as OSU has done a heckuva deflecting investigations.
I think tosu is screwed because they didn't promote Tressel to AD like YSU. If he had complete control of the department he could have covered this mess up right like he did at that school. I'm new to this board so this may have been posted but check out this article if you haven't:
I live in the shadow of tosu and have to deal with the delusional fans of the Luckeyes. I STILL don't think they realize how bad this is going to be in the end. Hopefully some of their recruits (Dunn, please!!) are smarter than the fans and realize it's time to get out of Dodge.
When it comes to lows for tsio to sink to, I think they're in the Tyson Zone for me. If you told me Tressel and Pryror each did a line off a girl's ass to seal his recruitment, I'd buy it.
This would pretty much make my summer, if not the next several years.
that would have to warrant a quazi death sentance wouldn't it? Major stuff there.
I don't believe the NCAA will actually impose the death penalty on OSU, but just one more point of comparison, other than SMU:
In 2000, Morehouse's part-time soccer coach, Augustine Konneh, signed two Nigerian-born players to play for the Maroon Tigers even though they'd played professionally for the Atlanta Ruckus of the A-League two years earlier. Konneh had lobbied to get soccer elevated from intramural to varsity status in 1998. They also played a few games before they actually enrolled at the school. Even though the school's then-athletic director got word that the two players might have been ineligible, they were allowed to play in 2001 as well. Although Konneh was replaced as coach in 2001, numerous other violations—including a player being allowed to compete without proper paperwork—led Morehouse to cancel the 2003 season. In November 2003, the NCAA barred Morehouse from fielding a soccer team again until 2006. It also slapped Morehouse with five years' probation—tied for the longest probation ever. USA Today called it the harshest penalty ever handed down to a collegiate program. The NCAA came down particularly hard on Morehouse due to a lack of institutional control; for a time the athletic department didn't know the soccer program even existed. While this was Morehouse's first major infractions case ever, the NCAA felt compelled to impose the death penalty due to what it called "a complete failure" to keep the program in compliance. Soccer at Morehouse has since reverted to intramural status; school officials had planned to shutter varsity soccer for an indefinite period even before the NCAA acted.
It's not really that far off of some of the rumors about what's been happening at OSU. The biggest difference is that I don't think I've heard anyone claim that the OSU athletic director knew what was going on. But who knows what will come out next?
I find that amazing that the Athletic Department didn't know the team existed. They only seven other sports to watch over.
Morehouse AD: [to his wife] "Hey sweetie, what are you are your friends up to tonight?"
AD's Wife: "Oh we're going to go out and see a soccer game"
Morehouse AD: "Oh cool. What team?"
AD's Wife: "The Morehouse Maroon Tigers!!"
Morehouse AD: "Nice..nice.....wait a second...."
Guys, I have a confession.
Jim Tressel himself offered me sex during my recruiting visit. When I explained to him that I wasn't gay (not that there's anything wrong with that), he then offered me money... to have sex with him.
I probably should have come out with this earlier, but it is just difficult to talk about. I hope you understand.
.....which will result from this shitstorm, if true, will be visible from Tower Plaza, and it will be beautiful.
if that's all true (heck if even some of that is true), ohio state is going to get obliterated. Any one of those (with maybe the exception of players selling drugs) is a major major violation on its own
if this is true, i'm going to take that copy of SI, wrap it up and give it to my friend as my wedding gift to him in 2 weeks (he's walking in to the victors. I'd venture to guess that it will be his favorite gift)
Everybody pays their players, deals drugs, pimps out the coeds, and has the local powerhouse high school coach on the payroll. Oh, and murders people too. No biggie.
Wow!!! nice work I love it!!! I have been hearing the same thing but i did not want to say anything until someone else spoke on it!!
Opra should make this one of her "Coolest things ever"!
If half of that is true wow, just wow. I do, howeva, hope they only get neutered and not put down. It would really suck not to play them. We don't need another death penalty like SMU. That would blow.
I'll believe all of this when I see it. I know it's going to get ugly, but I have heard nothing of players dealing drugs. Just because Eddie Rife was indicted for doing such things doesn't mean players were. Explain exactly what "pay for play" means in this instance. Does this mean cash handshakes or they were receiving money on the regular like SMU players? I'm not discrediting you, I just have my doubts that all of this will be pulled out in this "scandal."
Just need to see it to believe it. It's like you parents telling you as a child you will be going to Disneyland at some point during the year but then not telling you when or with who. I'm just sitting back and being cautiously optimistic.
Should I start the OSU fan feedback in advance?
- Yawn. It happens at every school.
- Tressel wanted to protect his players. He has very high morals. Stop attacking him.
The last ones the best.
Also we should have a T-Shirt that says " I got recruited by Ohio State and all I got was this crummy T-Shirt".
I think that would be better as a bumper sticker. "I got recruited by Ohio State and all I got was this crummy car."
