fine by me. miller won't be lasting very long from the onslaught of our defensive line anyway. thinking about pip, poggi, charlton, hurst and co. all on the same line makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I'm not saying you're wrong because I don't know what kind of OL Urban prefers for his system but from his past two classes and his one 2014 OL commit they are all 300+ lbs save for Evan Lisle, Jacoby Boren (who will probably never see the field), and the aforementioned O'Connor.  He hasn't brought near the numbers or quality of our OL in the past few classes but the ones they have snagged have been pretty damn big.  Regardless, Poggi, Pee Wee, Taco, Hurst, Henry, Mario, Godin, Strobel. Wormley, and our gaggle of big and speedy LB'ers should have their way with them.  I can't wait to see the battles between these teams in the years to come.

But I think most osu fans would like two more lineman in this class. I really like UM's oline class and I really like our dline class. Should be some nice battles in the future. Sore subject but Jacoby will be our starting center next year (2014). All reports are that he is physical, nasty, and performing well. Sorry about grammar, typing on ski lift.

Well as of now they have 16 offers out with 4 commits: 3 elsewhere and 1 to Ohio. So if they continue that trend then they will bring in 4 guys but their other offers are to top tier guys like Prince, Cole, Smith, Brown etc. Basically they have a lot of competition remaining to fill up their class with Bama, ND, Us and other SEC/Southern schools

it's way, way too early for these kinds of comments to make sense.

based on our 2014 defensive line haul so far, this logic would project us to get zero commitments.  same with our defensive back haul, quarterback haul, wide receiver haul, and on and on.

i expect osu to get some good 2014 o-linemen.

OL Damian Prince -
OL Kc McDermott - Miami lean
OL Braden Smith - Probably stays in Texas/Oklahoma/Kansas area
OL Mason Cole - ND or Michigan
OL Marcelys Jones - Ohio
OL Orlando Brown - Ohio has a decent shot
OL Natrell Curtis - Likely to stay West or Nebraska
OL Donell Stanley - Ohio not in top 4
OL Alex Bars - Probably Michigan
OL Sam Mustipher -
OL Andy Bauer - SEC probably
OL Jamarco Jones - Ohio has a decent shot
OL Quenton Nelson -
OL Roderick Johnson -
OL Denzel Ward - Michigan

That's impeccable reasoning I mean we have no chances at any qbs right? Who did Cornwell say would be in his top group if an offer came? Oh that's right Michigan. That is the worst comparison you could possibly make. Borges is out evaluating the top qbs ob the country and waiting to give an offer when he feels right. Ohio has sent offers to the top Olinemen in the country and have been rebuked thus far.

okay, i think i'll give up after this, but here's my last shot.  here are just a few reasons why, more than a year before signing day, it's way too early to start the "OSU won't get good 2014 o-linemen" stuff:

(1)  they already have a very good OL commitment, and you, yourself, say that they are in the mix for others.

(2)  the state of ohio has some excellent 2014 OL prospects who OSU hasn't offered yet.  guys like nathaniel devers, kyle trout, and nick richardson all seem like they'd be good gets for anyone.  if OSU offers now, the kids might commit right away.  it sometimes makes sense to offer your long shots first and then come back for the low-hanging fruit, if necessary, later.

(3)  these kids still have a lot of high school football to play.  we don't even really know who's good yet.

(4)  offensive linemen are among the hardest prospects to project, so it's one position where good scouting and development can get you through not landing a bunch of superstar recruits.

(5)  OSU will be recruiting offensive linemen with a very attractive looking depth chart.  meyer and his staff are obviously good recruiters.  i know that they haven't been killing it with offensive line recruiting so far, but small sample sizes are small.

i could go on, but if that's necessary, it wouldn't do me any good anyway.

to Michigan. That is why the coaches told Hunt and Skipper they were done?

/baseless speculation.  Wouldn't mind another OL if we can pick up D. Green and maybe another playmaker (WR?).

I still don't get how OSU has so much room for scholarships this year...I kept on hearing that it would be a small class by normal standards and now I see they have 22 commits with more possibly to come?  SEC, meet B1G.

They're in decent shape to pick up Cameron Hunt or Dan Skipper.  Maybe an OL defection allows them to pick up both.  Urban seems to be doing pretty well recruiting, so I doubt this loss will hurt them too much.

If it is O'Connor, was he expected to be on the two deep next year?

I don't think so. I believe the only offensive lineman they're losing to graduation is Reid Fragel, and Fragel was a tackle.  O'Connor is more of a guard.  He wasn't on the two-deep in 2012, so I wouldn't expect him to be now...but that's just a guess based on logic, not inside info.

Just doing a quick search it looks like they'll have 4 seniors starting next year and one junior, but the depth behind them will be young. They'll have 1 other junior backup and 4 rs freshmen backups if it's OConner who's leaving. As of now that would mean for 2014 they'd have 2 senior OL and 3 RS sophomores, with 1 RS sophomore backup, and 2 RS freshmen backups, plus whoever they take in the 2014 class.

Every time I click on a link to another school's fansite I thank God for MGoBlog.  Their forums always look like they're living in 1996.  I realize that this is the most trafficked fansite (think I heard that once), but geez we're way ahead of the game.
