Rumor: Michigan and Vols in Gator Bowl
A Tennessee paper is reporting (citing to TheWolverine.com) that Michigan and the Vols have accepted invites to the Gator. Woohoo. New Year's Day Bowl Game (if true).

Everyone realize how huge this game is? Richrod,Dee Hart,Program not being down another 3 years, all riding on this game. Christ, right before kick off, pour a BIG, strong, drink and hang on.

I have a friend who works for Gator Bowl Association....SEC is furious the Gator Bowl didnt take Miss St. I've already booked a flight. The fact is, they are looking for a Title Sponser for next year and ALL they care about is T.V. ratings.
December 5th, 2010 at 10:19 AM ^
It's not TN's fault that Mississippi St. is a historic joke of a second tier program in the poorest state in the Union.
You'd think a Benjamin-driven organization like the SEC would realize this.

What is the opposite of "charm" that would be appropriate for this post? Third time is a fail?

I didn't even know Tennessee was bowl eligible until I read this...has to be a good sign!
December 4th, 2010 at 8:22 PM ^
...Chris Low says that the way things are shaking out, Tennessee does indeed look like it's the leader for the Gator.
With Auburn headed to the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game, that means Arkansas is likely ticketed to the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The Capital One Bowl gets the first choice out of the SEC after the BCS selections are made and is expected to take Alabama. The AT&AT Cotton Bowl wants LSU.
If Florida does indeed go to the Outback, pushing South Carolina to the Chick-fil-A, that means Tennessee would probably wind up in the Gator Bowl, Mississippi State in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl, Georgia in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl and Kentucky in the BBVA Compass Bowl.

How can Florida (7-5) pass USC (9-4)?
December 5th, 2010 at 1:04 AM ^
Because it is all about the Benjamins
December 6th, 2010 at 2:43 PM ^
Isn't there are rule that they have to be within one game? Maybe it's one loss, but that would be pretty shitty for teams that play in the championship game.
December 4th, 2010 at 8:25 PM ^
I would love to see a Michigan-Tennessee matchup. Michigan could kick their a--es and put them in their place just like Woodson did to Peyton Manning. He and Fulmer whined like b-tches when Woodson was picked over Manning. I loved it.
December 4th, 2010 at 8:27 PM ^
Then they got thrashed by Nebraska and costs us half of a NC.
December 5th, 2010 at 10:20 AM ^
...Peyton choking in the Orange Bowl and crying like a little girl on national TV.
December 4th, 2010 at 10:21 PM ^
Honest question, because I don't recall. I remember Fulmer, but not Peyton.

December 5th, 2010 at 3:17 AM ^
No, Peyton has always been pretty cool about it. I'm sure he's different behind closed doors though.

I want revenge for the Citrus Bowl.
December 4th, 2010 at 8:46 PM ^
some revenge would be sweet. As much as that would be pretty cool to play them again, still wouldn't mind a Urban vs Rich Rod game.
December 4th, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
I was at that game. Painful loss indeed.
December 4th, 2010 at 8:51 PM ^
was the most painful part of that game. A tight end outrunning your safety is never a good sign. That UM team was LC's worst squad by a fair margin.
December 5th, 2010 at 10:28 AM ^
agrees wholeheartedly.
December 4th, 2010 at 8:27 PM ^
December 4th, 2010 at 8:55 PM ^
but what's funny is how I was ragged when I posted we would play a middle of the pack SEC team ... and not the loser of either the SEC or Big12 title game.
UT gives us fans the revenge factor we want. Nothing to gain in playing Florida ... since they're still stinging from Lloyd's last game !
Go Blue !
December 4th, 2010 at 9:57 PM ^
Better lower that expectation - we were 7th in the B10 !!! You think we'd play the Big 12 title game loser ??? Whoa ... I think your Iphone must have typed this by itself.
Start looking at the middle of the pack teams in the PAC10 and SEC conferences ... this would include Arizona, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi State. I personally believe it will be an SEC team.
I "ragged" you because you wrote a douchey comment insinuating that someone's phone must have typed their comment because their expectations were too high. Yet, you clearly still do not understand how bowl selections work. You are dishonest here because:
- The loser of the Big 12 title game (Oklahoma or Nebraska) could still end up in the Insight Bowl. Michigan was, and still is, in contention for that bowl. Nothing has changed, you are still wrong
- Nothing was said of Michigan playing the SEC title game loser in the original post. You are revising history to make it look like your assumption was more correct than it was
- Michigan cannot play a mid-level Pac 10 team as you stated in that post, because there is only one Big 10-Pac 10 tie-in: the Rose Bowl. Again, learn how bowls work before you question someone's knowledge of the subject
- Your original post was douchey for no reason, as is this one. Be nice to others and others will be nice to you

Yes, Dee Hart was just updated on Rivals to be committed to "Michigan, the team playing in the Gator Bowl."

I'm going to my FIRST UM bowl game. YeeeeeeeHAAWWWWW!
I have family just over an hour from Gainesville, so flight, tickets, and car rental is all I need. Will also be taking my 19-year-old daughter to HER first bowl game. Merry Christmas to me.
