Ross is a Michigan Man, and he is totally fucking with Harbaugh.

Ross dangles the 7 million/year carrot in front of Harbaugh until San Francisco and Denver fill their coaching positions.  Meanwhile, Ross "fulfills the Rooney Rule" and "fires the coach"...blah blah blah.

As soon as all of the NFL jobs are filled, Ross calls up Harbaugh, and goes...nope...not giving you the job.

Harbaugh is then left to choosing between Michigan and Stanford.  This is when DB's 5.2 million is looking good.

i have heard this rumor spun many ways.  as i have reported before msc has been thinking that michigan should pay like we have - middle of the pack-  brandon is willing to pay market which , for the most sought after coach in quite sometime, would be to be the highest paid- that's 5.2 in college.  msc balked-  brandon and harbaugh are showing he can get close to 8 million making 5.2 middle market and acceptable ( besides more than adequately showing what his "market " value is.)

seems like a lot of conspiracy- but i know a lot of folks close to brandon and they are tight lipped, but one thing is for sure harbaugh and brandon had talked, and brandon certainly thought he had an agreement- it went south over the weekend and i have heard dozens of reasons why- none that make all that much sense except for as brandon basically said "harbaugh wants to go to the nfl".

i've also personally knew jh back in school and when he was in chicago and nothing he will decide will surprise me- he is a loose cannon and follows his own drummer- which is why while i easily see him saying no i can easily see him saying " in the end, michigan did make the most sense"

7 million salary in Florida is around 8.5-9 in other states due to taxes. Yeah he takes a hit in property but this makes the number higher even if it was 6

Read somewhere that Stanford is surpassing the 6 mil a year mark with bonuses in their offer for Harbaugh. Seems he is down to the NFL or Stanford. Who knows if DB will offer more money. I would still like to have Stoops above Harbaugh however....

My fellow Wolverines, wanted to say hey to you all.  I am new to this site and have been reading most of the post that have been on this website for the past few days.  As we all are waiting for the "answer" to who will be leading us out of the tunnel in the fall, I found myself at a place where I began to feel sad that... we have a problem.  If we can not land JH. That is pretty sad to know that he would rather risk being 2-3 yrs out of the NFL, than to man the ship in AA. Then to hear all of these reports that DB is asking Northwesterns coach if he is interested? Are you kidding me? Is that the best we can do? I hope not, I hope all of this is a smoke screen to give JH whatever he wants to come here.  To me he seems to be the only person that can make an immediate impact on this University right now.  Do you guys think that it is still a chance that JH lands in AA?

Well, Harbaugh's choice is a tough one.  He is getting NFL offers that are unprecedented with someone with his coaching experience.  An NFL job may always be there, but maybe not on these terms, even if he excels at Michigan.  He's the IT coach.  No other candidate for the Michigan job, no other Michigan coach, and very few other coaches in the history of the game have been in this position.  I can see why he may pass it up.

This is what I did to make myself feel better: Brady Hoke is our backstop.  We could do better, some would say we should do better, and we very well may do better, but I can live with him.  He loves Michigan, he coached SDSU to their best year in 40 years, he went 11-1 one year at Ball State, and when he coached at Michigan, the defensive line (his group) was dominant, going 5-3 against Ohio State.  And he is, apparenty, the worst case scenario.

I get the argument that JH possibly wants the challenge of winning in the NFL.  What I don't get is him chasing the money.  I don't know how long UM's offer is to him but if the reports of 5.2 mil/year are accurate (even if its for five years) I would think that would be more than enough to get him if it was truly his dream.  I've been very dissapointed to see now that all the good looking girls want to date him that what used to matter to him has gone out the window.

He will never have to worry about money and the risk of failing in the NFL (the majority do) as compared to the very good chance of being a legend in college footbal and at UM just doesn't make sense to me.  Can anyone paint a clear picture why the money of the Dolphins seems to be outweighing the opportunity and challenge to bring your beloved team back to the top?

I'd rather see Jim just go the NFL, then come to AA only to have him baited by the NFL at the end of every season.  I think that's why DB said (speaking of the next coach) "he has to want to come to Michigan".  It seems Harbaugh has too many wants to satisfy any length of stay in AA....which is too bad because I'm afraid he will be a far more effective college coach than pro.  I guess we should prepare ourselves for Hoke.  Let's hope he's not a joke.
