Rumor: Chris Singletary is no longer with the program

Submitted by Magnus on

There's a rumor floating around that recruiting coordinator Chris Singletary is no longer employed by the football program. One possibility would be that Chris Partridge takes over all the recruiting duties, or perhaps Michigan would hire someone else. For a little while, Partridge was contacting offensive recruits and Singletary was working with defensive guys.

I didn't think his status was decided until some weeks after JH was hired.  Is it possible that he was only around for a short period until they transitioned the recruiting away from the old staff?

I think the guy higher on the page has it correct.  Mattison and Singletary were the only holdovers from old staff.  You are not going to come and sweep out a guy - even if you intend to down the road - when you are way behind everyone else in the country in 2015 recruiting and this guy has all the contacts/relationships.  And maybe he wanted to see with his own eyes how Singletary did.  Rather than sweep him out for what reason ... other people's views on him?  So now we are past the extreme time crunch of 2015 recruiting and Jim has had 4 months to observe and the timing of such a move would make more sense as we are in a quieter period for recruiting before it ramps back up this summer.

for a very long time. I don't get the cynical and auto-negging responses. The vast majority of posters are appreciative, but some apparently are rubbed the wrong way by him. The man obviously loves UM football, has good football experience, and supports MGoBlog. Why the negativity?

Chris is a great guy and was a big part of the process obviously with the entire current team. Don't think it's appropriate for folks who don't know him, haven't had him work on your or your kid's behalf, and spend time with over the years to comment that he had problems or was not good for the job.

No surprise that Harbaugh moves on with his own picks.  Doesn't mean Chris isn't/wasn't good.  Means Harbaugh is the man now and is building his system as he sees fit.
