Rumor: Chris Singletary is no longer with the program

Submitted by Magnus on

There's a rumor floating around that recruiting coordinator Chris Singletary is no longer employed by the football program. One possibility would be that Chris Partridge takes over all the recruiting duties, or perhaps Michigan would hire someone else. For a little while, Partridge was contacting offensive recruits and Singletary was working with defensive guys.

We've already seen what happens when guys who have not been in the college (i.e. recruiting) game have to start from scratch. While trying to salvage the 2015 class it would have been detrimental to cut out the primary POC for the recruits...

Its also possible Harbaugh was letting him audition for the job. Its also possible this isn't happening and its just a rumor, we'll have to wait and see

If Harbaugh was using the time to let Singletary audition, while also save any chance of pulling together a class, I could see him not being content with missing out on guys like Chris Clark or Roquan Smith. If Harbaugh really does demand excellence, maybe he looked back on his recruiting coordinator and thought things could've been handled differently.

Another post by Magnus, the most uninformed poster in all of the Mgocommunity. Better downvote asap. Could this guy get any worse amirite

Well, that is just not true, I am the most uninformed poster in the Mgocommunity.

Also, aside from Brian's previews, the thing I most enjoy reading before the season is the touch the banner player countdown

What level of insight and connections do you have Magnus? Other prominent posters on here have stated that they are coaches, athletic administrators, teachers in HS who know kids personally, recruiting reporters recognized by mainstream media.

What are your qualifications? What kind of sources are you privvy to?

Is film evaluation a hobby of yours or did you perform a similar task for a football staff at some point?

No snark intended....

Based on your other comments toward/about me, I'm leery of wasting too much time with an answer.

However, I have been coaching high school football for a fairly long time.

I don't think "sources" really have anything to do with this, as it has been a rumor brought up on various message boards elsewhere. I simply started the thread because somebody in another thread said "Why isn't there a post about it yet?" and I completed the task for him.

Obviously, as a football coach, watching film is a frequent task. Plus I have been running a website that follows recruiting for several years.

As a fellow coach I look forward to your technical contributions on threads started by SpaceCoyote and Seth. Those guys do a good job of describing assignments, techniques, coverages, disguising plays, allignments, and all that other technical stuff that coaches know.

Thank you for meeting expectations. Instead of being 99% sure, I'm now 100% sure that your "no snark intended" comment previously was a lie.

Rivals mods have basically confirmed without confirming.

Several posters on The Fort have commented on Singletary having a large sense of entitlement.  I don't have any knowledge of that firsthand, but if it's true, I'm sure that hasn't exactly endeared him to JH.

If Singletary's shortcomings are true, I am sure he was let go.  Harbaugh seems like the guy that doesn't suffer fools long and has little patience for  anything less than excellence.

The timing would seem to make sense about now with the closing of the academic year.

If true, best of luck. Hopefully he lands on his feet somewhere.

Singletary was the constant through 3 coaching changes. There's a reason why he was kept on all these years. He helped to hold down the program through all the changes. Many parents and recruits speak VERY highly of him (especially in the Detroit area). As much as well all love the Harbaugh hire, hopefully this is not a case of Harbaugh just being an asshole behind the scenes. Not that one man is any more important to the program than others, but let's hope Harbaugh sees/knows Singletary's value to the program.
