Rumor: Braxton Miller transferring! To FSU! ....or maybe Duke.... wtf?

Submitted by Decatur Jack on

RUMORZ? RUMORZ.

So it looks like the bomb has dropped:

It's been no secret lately that Braxton Miller's interest in transferring out of Ohio State is certainly growing, especially with the realization that J.T. Barrett may just slide back into his starting role next spring.

And then this and this:

#FSU has been told it's on list of schools Ohio State QB Braxton Miller is interested in playing for next year.

Apparently Duke(?!?) is also in the mix. Via Duke.247sports.com and Duke's SB Nation site and FanSided.

It's all just rumorz at this point, but who cares? RUMORZ IS FUN YO

Why not Michigan?  Certainly one of the teams in the nation that could do with a QB and immediately become a serious contender, given the favorable schedule next year.  Moreover, he would be playing under a former NFL QB.  What better way to rub it in Meyer's ungrateful face than to beat him and his new favorite, Inner Circle QB?  Granted, this is rather dependent on what system Harbaugh is going to run in season 1.

they'd never release him to UM. We didn't give Ferns, a kid with zero field action, any B1G options. No way (NONE) Urban grants a release with UM as an option. I doubt he'd release him to the conference or teams they play next year. To be honest, nobody would blame him or call him "evil". It would be against their best interest.

Duke would be great for him. He'd be a guaranteed starter, easily the most talented player on the team, so the offense would revolve around him,,and he would be working with a QB guru in Cutcliffe. If Miller wants to be a QB in the NFL, Duke might be his best shot.

if transferring is legit and he's healthy, Duke wins for prepping him to be an NFL QB (if he insists on it) and it's a great degree. If really transferring, of the teams he'd be allowed to go to, Duke would be up there on or near the top. Houston, as well, if he insists on playing QB due to following his OC. Yet, I don't think he needs to go anywhere if truly healthy. Stay at osu and be what we should have done with Denard: an offensive terror lining up everywhere.

I don't think he's going anywhere. I think he'd retire before transferring but I expect to see him in a non-QB role at osu next year. Again, I have close ties to his HS and the shoulder has been an issue. I'd put it at 25% that he doesn't pay CFB again. I don't think that area will ever be "solid". You can mitigate hits by position and play style but it's going to get hit. A lot. Again, I'd go 25% that he's done playing or will be after a few games. Either way I think it's going to be at osu.

Braxton's father has been very outspoken about Braxton returning to Ohio State as recently as the past couple of weeks. Ezekiel Elliot was quoted as saying "we all know Braxton will be the starter (next year)" and that was three days ago. My guess is that the starting running back and Braxton's father are more reliable sources but I guess anything could happen. I am still betting that he returns.

EDIT: Urban said in his press conference today that he and Braxton have had discussions and he expects Braxton to return.

I would gladly take Braxton Miller as a transfer, but there's no chance that he would be released to Michigan.

If he has dreams of making it to the NFL, Duke would actually be a good spot for him. David Cutcliffe is a quarterback guru and could give Miller the tutelage he needs to get to the NFL. Otherwise, I don't see Miller as anything more than a backup QB prospect to start.

Is that Braxton competes early at QB but no way in hell beats out JT if he's healthy. At that point I'm sure Braxton moves to slot back, special teams, get some carries in a few different positions. I don't see him playing qb anywhere, he was AT BEST, an average throwing qb before blowing out his shoulder.
